    Love hearing your thought process for a full painting. There’s so much knowledge and wisdom in this. I didn’t know you’ve been painting for 8 years. Seems like you’ve been painting for decades. You definitely show how watercolor can be mastered in a short time if you put in the work to learn. Thank you for sharing your time with us. ❤

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you Jacqueline 🙏😊 I think 8 years is a really long time haha 😂
      I could see mastery coming after a few years only, too
      With that, I feel like I have a little more to go to get there truly and fully (which is good news, because there's a future result of mine that if I see today - will blow me away!)

    Thank you so much for this! I've been trying to follow "the right process" for watercolor and came to the same conclusion about doing what works for the painting and for me. It is really nice to have you confirm that it's ok to do it differently!

    ‘Notice your own painting”. Yes. It’s so easy to get lost in how you’re painting, as compared to the reference, that you can’t see the good work you’re in the process of doing. It’s refreshing to hear a teacher encouraging self expression. Rare on you-tube. Also, thanks for saying that you don’t know why for some things. Art should be a combo of thinking and feeling, but can’t always be rationalized.

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for the kind words 🙏😊
      I try to show it as-it-is as much as possible (:
      Art is often put into concepts, ideas, techniques and more. But these will always be partial, poor representations of reality, which is much grainier and messier.

  • @joebeamish

    Thanks for this. Do you also like to use gouache?

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I barely use gouache (: Only for small highlights here and there
      (using Designer's Gouache by Winsor & Newton). In this one though, I don't think I have.
      I do use a lot of watercolors that are more on the opaque side.

      The large bamboo one at the start is indeed a Michael Solovyev brush! I have used Baohong paper before and liked it a lot. Here’s is a painting I really like done on their rough paper:
