- Traditional bowhunting is all about getting close. Finding sign, setting up properly, getting chances at a close shot, and ultimately making that shot. Here's an educational video on how I did it during Virginia's early doe season. #bowhunting #whitetail #deerhunting #howto

Nice video. Great tips. Hard work rewarded. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Those bobcats were awesome, my temptation to get into a recurve gets hard every season to resist 😂
Awesome video! I’m just under ya in NC, got my first compound bow public land deer last weekend and did this exact method on packing out. Maybe will try traditional once I gain more experience!
thanks and congratulations on your bowhunting success as well
Great video, awesome job!!!
Awesome hunt and thank you for sharing. I love the bottomland Eichler recurve.
thanks!
What pack was the one you used to haul meat out? Looked perfect for a whitetail.
Maybe show us a short video on the pack you like to use. Thanks
it's this pack alnk.to/7fpY3iJ. And yes I'll do a video specifically on it as well.
Question. So you pack all your gear out to then go back with another pack to haul meat? Could the meat bags not be secured to the other pack to cut down on the back and forth? Great content.
Yes, I did that case as the Treehouse 38 that I was hunting with is nice for organizing gear, but it's not really built to be a meat hauler. I was only maybe a 10 min walk to the truck, so not a big deal to go back and get a pack specifically designed to carry meat. Yes, I could have secured the meat bags to the other pack if I really had to. I could also have just hunted with the meat hauler pack to begin with, which is what I would do if I was hunting really far away from a vehicle.
Great video and congratulations!! Help me out though, how is it that red lights aren’t seen as easily by deer? I find that to sound more like a marketing ploy. Yes, deers eyes can’t see red or orange as well, but surely they can still see the brightness of an illuminating headlamp….it doesn’t make sense to me.
Thanks, glad you liked the video. In regards to red light, it's just how the rods and cones in their eyes are built, and especially in low light they have a hard time detecting red. One of the reasons you'll see a lot of wildlife research being done under a red light is that it doesn't impact their natural behaviors the same as a white light. I'm sure they detect some level, but in my experience using a red light definitely spooks far less game than a white light. If you Google it you'll see a lot of studies on the subject.
@@DamonBungard growing up and reading all the deer biology in Deer & Deer Hunting I’m pretty well versed in their eyes and how they see, I guess I just didn’t think the shade or tone would matter any aside from the obvious light source that’s walking through the woods. I guess I’ll try it and see if I notice any difference too. Thanks for the reply!!
Awesome video brother!!!
thank you
Great video
Thanks for the detailed video. I enjoyed watching it!
thank you
Congratulations, nice job. I like the bit about the greener acorns. They say you learn something new every day. Here’s more proof. 👍👍
thank you, glad there was some educational in it for you
this looks so much like indiana! where are you hunting here?
Virginia
First time viewer here. Like your content a lot. Concise and to the point.

Very nice hunt. I can see your a good woodsman and hunter. Thanks for sharing.
glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the nice compliment
@@DamonBungard Most of these hunters think they are a big movie producer. What with all the cameras microphones close ups and background film. Just show shots and recovery. Thanks again.
Super insightful!
thanks bud, hope the fish are biting out there in Montana!
Good video. Subbed
thanks, appreciated
