First, the author of this video I do not think understand the death metal genre. It is not trench coats and platform boots... LOL. Second, the first song you play is Metalica... not even close to death metal. I got one of these guitars. Out of the box, one tuner was broken, one string was broken and the nut broke shortly after I put new strings on it. I got ahold of Glarry and they flat out refused to do anything. After going in circles with them, I gave up. I will never buy a Glarry product because they simply will not honor their warranty. KNowing I was stuck with a broken guitar on arrival, I replaced the strings with beefier strings and tuned it - it pulled the tremolo/bridge up because it is terrible and the springs don't have enough tension. I had to by replacement springs that were stronger just to pull the tremolo back where it belongs and it is still not ight! I could not find a replacement nut for it after buying every single one on amazon. NOT ONE would fit!!!! Now, I have a nut that I have had to shove a piece of plastic under to get it to work... now the strings are too high!!! I have done everything with this guitar now to get it right. I replaced the tuners, replaced the pickups (stock were horrible for metal), and tuned the bridge, adjusted the truss rod, adjusted the springs, adjusted everything. The guitar still does not play right. Strings are too high no matter what you do. If you lower anything you get terrible string buzz. The only thing that can save this guitar is installing a fixed bridge and getting someone to custom make a nut for it. I like the style, but with the hassle and the money I have spent, I could have bought the real ESP that this is a copy of. www.amazon.com/ESP-LTD-F10-Electric-Guitar/dp/B004TH4I0S/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=esp+guitar&qid=1612316771&sr=8-5
That's really funny because Joe use to play, with the gain cranked to 10 a few years ago. He's turned it down a little since then but that's not to say, he plays clean exclusively. On the contrary. I don't think he plays without some sort of gain to alter the signal.

After seeing your video, I bought one of these and upgraded it with all black hardware: floyd rose special trem, schaller locking tuners and alnico 5 humbuckers at the neck, center (single dual coil) and bridge. I also shielded the cavities with copper tape and military grade shielding paint. I made several adjustments and now this thing plays like a guitar at 10 times the price.
Yep! A Mexican Fender or good Epiphone Les Paul will do the trick with a good amp. Hell my Epiphone LP sounds awesome through my Orange Mirco Terror amp plugged into a used Fender 4×12 cabinet. Great demo and tuneup. -put a vega trem on there with a big brass block, then change that nut to an oversize aluminum, graphite or brass nut. Now route and change the pickups to 3 guitarmory humbucker pickups. add stainless steel frets. add high ratio tuners. drop tune it to A# or other tuning. use a calculated set of kalium or stringjoy strings. now play metal in a studio through a real metal amp like a monomyth, Fortin, EVH 5150 III amp or madison divinity. I am a musician and I was a avid metal fan back here in SWE during the late 90s.I saw Entombed a bunch of times live. Entombed used to run everything from vintage SGs, Les Pauls and even a strat here and there. So the sunburst is more appropriate than you think. Stay safe my dude
I actually bought this guitar as my first guitar years ago in 2008 when the company went by the name Lawson. Glarry has actually down graded it quite a bit from what it used to be. Mine came with an Overlord Of Music Floyd Rose bridge and the 5 way switch does split the humbuckers. Other than that the body is shaped slightly different and better IMO at the bottom. Everything else about them is identical. Overall I have always loved it, it plays great after a set up, and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything. If nothing else they make for an awesome mod guitar.
I own the Burning Fire guitar and bass, both with the sunburst paintjob. On the bass, I replaced the bridge with a black Hipshot, and black open-gear tuners. I replaced the strings on both instruments. I'm more of a bass player than a guitar player, but I absolutely love them both. My Glarry is my favorite bass, despite owning Ibanez basses, one of them originally valuing around $1,400.
"We want to hear some Entombed or At The Gates" - well, I don't, I'm mostly here for the Scottish accent, but carry on ;) But, that "Bonamassa" insult, that's too much, take it back! That could possibly be the worst insult anybody has thrown at me!
I always appreciate these videos, epiphone/Gibson is a good example of how a $400 piece of equipment than the $1000 equivalent. It would be nice to also see some amp head/combos reviews done in the same way.
The fact that you can buy any guitar for £77, everyone along the way is making enough money to stay in business and it's not a complete pile of 💩 is impressive
Honestly, all it needs is better pups, a VegaTrem (need to route for it?), locking tuners (or nut), and I'm ready to start headbangin' and composing/tracking new projects. Just buy a couple of these cheapos and swap up these aformentioned parts every time the nickel frets erode away -- cheaper than a refret (I've worn down a few and it's a sad reality). My estimate is close to: - $75 for Gotoh locking tuners - $100 for Dragonfire HSH pup set (Crusaders) - $280 for Vegatrem - $110 for Glarry Guitar TOTAL $570 (I rounded up a tad for shipping, but you might STILL need to add a few more bucks to the total) If I starting over again in life with mere pennies in my pocket and living in a vehicle/tiny-room... this is what I would do. The VegaTrem would be the most expensive addition, but that part is still a cheaper way to get whammy action in solo-ing. Until that day comes, I'm happy with my Charvel So-Cal ... ... that is until the frets wear down some more.
Great demonstration. I would've loved that guitar when I was starting out in the late '70s. The guitar I had cost me over 2X as much and was 1/2 as good. It was a Hohner strat copy.

I love my ESPs, and honestly this is obviously a cheap knock-off. I do agree the shape is rather niche, but is actually pretty comfortable to play. the whole reason I went with it was because it was totally metal, but not as extreme as a Warlock or generic as an Ibanez. great video!
