Byzantium was the Roman Empire so they did control Croatia
@@daitengainey1439 No it wasn’t, it was the eastern half of the Empire which was created following the 395 partition. Croatia went from Western Roman, to Avar, to Slavic, and to Hungarian control in the time of the Byzantine empire.
@@owenofhb8319 dude the Eastern half of the Empire was the remnant part of the Roman Empire which owned every piece of land around the Mediterranean Sea before the time of the Eastern part was the only thing when it was just the Roman Empire alone as one single territory in before 330 AD The nation of Croatia was part of the Empire The land was part of the Empire including Hungary but every land every nation that exists around the Mediterranean Sea now was part of the Roman Empire
@@daitengainey1439 I’m not gonna argue with you about Byzantium being Rome, but they never had the borders shown in the image. The King of Croatia might have recognized the Byzantine emperor as his de Jure liege, but in all effectiveness this had no effect
@@owenofhb8319 yes true I not going to lie the Byzantine did not have it when the western part of the Roman Empire collapsed but the Eastern Roman Empire did in a way have land when they were part of the Roman Empire the west and the east as one
