I love how the song starts very low and creepy, and then turns into a more electronic, dynamic banger, while still being creepy. It creates a genuinely tense atmosphere. Especially when you visit Bad Grief for the first time, the quiet start of the song made me feel like I'm about to be attacked by all those people, only to realize Bad Grief is actually pretty chill, and now, after 8 days in the Bachelor route, he's honestly one of my favorite side characters. I love his attitude and design and just everything about him
P1 Grief felt way more like a true arms dealer and overall more dangerous than P2 Grief. In P1 he already had an army rifle and bullets as well. All the weapons are in mint condition. In P2 Grief never gets the rifle/rifle ammo and he only sells the shotgun (ammo as well)/revolver at a later date...
I completely agree. In the first one it felt like he'd cut my throat if I tried to screw him over. In the second one - perhaps just because we were playing as Artemy, who was reframed as his close friend - he hardly felt threatening at all. I wonder if that perspective will change as we meet him for the first time as Dankovsky or Clara.
In Artemiy's scenario in the classic HD version, he was slightly nicer to him than the bachelor because of his father and on the account of Artemiy being a murderer as well. Then you get to the changeling's scenario and it's all: "nope, grief is still very evil". I kinda hope that in the other scenarios of P2 you get to see that different side of him again. I love him. He's one of my favourite characters.
@@chocolatMouse Excellent point! He is a bit kinder to Artemy in both games, but for different reasons. I am also hoping you get to see the ruthless side of him a bit more - the Changeling questline with him is great.
I think that may be a character difference, In P1 Grief wants you to THINK he's not all that bad and doesn't believe in violence and all that. But in Claras route you learn that he's lying, he's truly a ruthless killer who takes great pleasure in sadistic violence. In 2, Grief actually is a softer guy, he truly doesn't want blood to be spilled in his name. I think it goes in line with his character, he wants you to think he's the big mean boss but he isnt really.
@@LittleWeevil I've been wondering about that recently (because you get the information from his reflection) and while I used to think the reflections just told you what they think; I think it's in fact that characters inner voice/thoughts. So Grief is thinking to himself how he's not a bad guy and never wanted blood shed (which I think is true) and it also mentions how his soul is trembling. I think that's because Bad Grief in P2 DOES do bad things; but it's only so he can continue being the underground kingpin. Just because he doesn't want blood shed, probably doesn't mean he wouldn't do something ruthless in front of his men to prove that he's the badass he's trying to come off as.
This and Notkin's theme are two of my favorite tracks from the game. Ruben's theme is pretty great too. What is it with the warehouse district getting some of the best tracks?
I was a little disappointed to not hear this track or at least a remixed track much like P2's Andrei Kabak Remix at Grief's warehouse in Pathologic 2. I guess the warehouse wasn't big enough/not enough key characters visited the warehouse to justify having a remix for it.
I think the way Pathologic 2 was focused on constructing a different mood contributed to this decision. I myself would have loved a theme for each character but we didn't get that, sadly, likely due to the budgetary constraints IPL were/are suffering from. Although this time around Lara and Georgiy at least have their own themes. Though not as distinct as Grief's tune in this one.
