For myself, solo, with sword-axe/sword-mace and the double ambush quickness variant, I get more healing, more cc, 2 x big nuke, and spread quickness here there and everywhere. Double ambush on sword I feel to be quite compelling... but you're in a different league to myself, so I might just be filling in my own gaps. What works for me really might not be applicable to yourself... For large packs of mobs, spear/spear I also feel to be quite compelling... silly numbers... You can tune around double ambush. On condi dagger-dagger/dagger-torch is interesting. You can even do the never-ending rapid fire with longbow/longbow... I'm currently running zerker/diviner/commander, and demolisher would work, for solo I don't really need the boon duration. I'll need to try this out, cheers for the tip. Looks very interesting.
I enjoyed spear for general open world, but it seemed to really fall off in damage for bigger stuff like champions. It just didn't seem worth it overall. Also, don't forget that mace/mace has the cooldown reset if you land all of the skills. So when comparing to sword/mace, count all of the CC, healing, barrier, and boons twice! I find I can get enough quickness with this weapon pairing that it's a DPS loss to take Let Loose over Ferocious Symbiosis. So, in practice, damage and sustain are both better than running sword/mace with Let Loose.
