With all these books Ian wants to read with you, you guys should do a joint challenge of "husband and wife read the exact same books for a month" where your monthly tbr HAS TO be the exact same! It would be sooo interesting to see your perspectives on each book
go into the night circus expecting it to be slow and atmospheric, it's not a fast read, but it's such a beautiful story and i hope u love it!!!! i gave it 5 stars!
This was a book club pick the year it came out. NOT MY GENRE so, yes, I was not a fan. HOWEVER, it was eerily atmospheric. Like “take your third eye to the movies” atmospheric
I will say reading the night circus, in the beginning I was a bit confused, but once you realize what it’s about and pick up on the atmosphere it makes for a really good re-read, definitely super close to a five star read for me!!!
The Night Circus is my favorite book of all time, but it is definitely not for everyone, in my opinion; you cannot force yourself into it. You have to be in the mood for the book to transport you because it is very descriptive and atmospheric, and if you force yourself, then you try to understand it, which is never fun. Just go with the flow when you pick it up.
The writing in the Night Circus is absolutely stunning! I think you'll enjoy it. Also maybe a readathon video to challenge yourself to read as many books on your fall TBR as possible? Also PLEASE include spoilers if you do a whole Throne of Glass vlog!
Ian is right on with The Prince Of Tides. A must read. Maybe you can do a video about the book and watch the movie and comment on both. I thought the movie was good. I also agree about Dracula. That should be the introduction to vampire stories. My favorite movie version of Dracula is from 1979 and starred Frank Langella. I am an older viewer so that was my first Dracula movie. I am also a brand new subscriber and look forward to new videos!
I'm your classic man-reader and I borrowed & read my daughter's copy of the Night Circus and it was highly enjoyable. I never would have read it if my daughter hadn't asked me to check it out. Usually stick with the hard SFFH. I gave it 4 stars
Yess! The opening lines of Dracula are so iconic. It’s also less creepy because it feels so contained in time, not sure if that makes any sense. Great buddy read choice! Another one you might like even a lil’ better is The Phantom of the Opera. 🎭
such a wholesome video💘 the night circus & dracula are on my fall tbr too!! video ideas: letting your dog pick the books for the week (out of your tbr), spooky readathon, buddy reading vlog, building a blanket fort + reading cozy books :)
Seriously you two are the cutest book worm couple ever lol , Buddy reading fairy tale together is just goals. One of my fav king books too, That’s a great fall tbr collection , enjoy!
The night circus is AMAZING!! It’s beautifully written and atmospheric and feels like a dream. It also has an amazing rivals to lovers subplot!!! A lot of people don’t like it bc it’s slow but I think that the pacing made it so much better bc we could linger in beautiful moments and settings more❤. PLSSSS read it!!!
I’ve read The Night Circus twice a few years ago and it’s definitely worth a read ! It’s a historical fiction/ magical realism story love story. From what I remember the writing is lovely so I would say take your time while reading to appreciate it. Story wise I would say it gives the same vibes as the Caraval trilogy ! It’s a modern classic for a reason. I hope you enjoy it ! ❤
This was so fun to watch! I feel like there’s a good variety in the stack. I really hope you love The Night Circus because the fall is the perfect atmosphere to consume the story. I’d love to see a buddy reading collab with Ian, your POV on this channel, with Ian’s on his. It could be a fun time ☺️ Happy reading 🍂👻
Night Circus is one of my top 5 books. I love it, the writing is so beautiful! With the descriptions, I felt like I was completely immersed in the story
GIRRRRLLLL READ ASSISTANT TO THE VILLAIN I FINISHED LAST MONTH AND I THINK ABOUT IT DAILY! it’s a great fall read it’s cozy, lighthearted has chemistry and THE PLOT TWISTS! I CANT EVEN EXPRESS IT 🙏
the videos both of you do together are so fun to watch! Definitely do a buddy read and also a cozy fall reading blog of what you're reading in that TBR. Hidden Pictures and TOG are both really good! Caraval was fun to read as well! :)
ahhh i’m so excited for you!!! caraval is so good! and i’m so excited for you to continue the truly devious series! it’s so so good, i finished the trilogy and the other two books in a week last fall, they were so good! 🧡
I loved Caraval! I just read that whole trilogy and just did reading vlogs on each book for my channel. I feel like besides normal reading vlogs, doing more challenges would be fun to watch. I've been thinking about doing a spin the wheel or even having my husband make a "scavenger hunt" to make me find the next book I'll read. Otherwise, the classic "reading x pages a day", "prompt jar chooses my next read", or even "read my tbr with me for a week" are always good videos.
Added "Hidden Pictures" (@2:07) & "The Prince of Tides" (6:38) to my TBR. They sound good. 🙂 @2:30 - "The Night Circus" is a book that's also been on my TBR too long, and I'd like to read it this fall. 🌃🎪 @6:18 - Dracula is also on my fall TBR. 🙂 @8:10 - "The Only One Left" is also on my fall TBR. 🙂 I'm so happy to find out we'll be reading a lot of the same books this fall, Ashlynn! 🙂
I adore Caraval! I had to dnf the night circus, I had the worst time understand what was actually going on. I am on the last book of A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Silver Flames and am so beyond in love with Sarah J Maas and plan to start Throne of Glass after that! I cant wait to see what you think of all the books Ian picked out for you! Happy reading!!!!
Y’all should totally do a buddy reading video of all the buddy reads that Ian is mentioning! I would love to see it!! Ian picked so many good books! Absolutely loved Hidden Pictures it’s one of my favorite thrillers!!!
throne of glass reading vlog!!!! I just finished assassin's blade and am moving into throne of glass myself; I'd LOVE to "buddy read" with you!🥰❤️ loved this video!
I recently discovered your channel and quickly fell in love! I've been binging your old videos and was so excited when I saw this posted! Your smile is so contagious and your videos always put me in a better mood! God bless you and much love! 💗
The Night Circus has been my favourite book since its release. I definitely noticed it's not for everyone. It's a book to get swept into, go along for the ride. I can see how it can be confusing at first, but it is just so magical and perfect. Every time I finish it, I get so homesick towards it. I just want to go back into the world. Erin's second book, The Starless Sea, is also perfection. She doesn't publish often. But when she does, it's amazing.
Ashlynn!! I adore The Night Circus!! Also, the audiobook is narrated by the same man who does the Harry Potter audios, and it's AMAZING!! Perfect for a hot plot walk maybe??
QR links to both of your channels will go up on my Book Recommendations wall outside of my classroom. I teach high school English, and I love adding recommendation channels for my students!
I wasn’t expecting too much with the night circus (I put it off too) but it became one of my favorite books, I know it’s probably not for everyone, but it’s incredibly atmospheric and beautifully written, how the story is told is almost as important as the story itself. You have a good stack here, excited for videos to come!
So excited you’re reading Throne of Glass, Hidden Pictures, The Only One Left, and Caraval! They’re all favorites of mine so I can’t wait to hear all your thoughts on them.
@1:27 - Stephen King's "Fairy Tale" is also on my fall TBR, as well as King's "The Shining" (@9:30). I've got the ebooks & audiobooks for these on loan from the library and will be immersion reading them over the next two weeks. 🙂
Firstly if you haven’t already, you should pick Ian’s tbr too 😜 Your buddy read could be a video all of its own. ❤️ Do a 24 hour spooky readathon for the thriller/horror types! Maybe do a throne of glass vlog where you do the first few books spread out similar to your Harry Potter video 😘
Oh my god I love the night circus it is a beautiful book it is a slower pace book but it is so worth it the writing is gorgeous and this also goes for her other book the starless sea I would just go into them with an open mind I love them both and hope you like it too
Ahhhhh 😅yes yes yes 👏 girl woohoo ya gonna start throne of glass ahhhhh I’m so excited to see ya jump into that universe!!!! Thank you Ian …you the man!!!!
Yay! Once Upon A Broken Heart and the Caraval series are two of my all time favorite books/series Especially Once Upon A Broken Heart. I hope you enjoy them!
Love this!! I’ve been meaning to read The Night Circus for a long time too. Dracula is also on my fall TBR, and I picked up Fairy Tale from a little free library recently so maybe I’ll get to that one too! Hidden Pictures is perfect for fall! 🍂🎃🍁
I buddy read The Night Circus with my husband a few years ago, and we both had the same thoughts. The writing and magic elements were great; very atmospheric and unique. As others have mentioned, it is a slow-paced book, but that didn’t bother me (especially during the fall season). However, we both felt the ending was rushed, which was unfortunate since the book took its time beautifully building the story and its characters.
I would make a video series of you reading the books your husband picks your fall tbr, that way it correlates to this video and also shows these books. Loved this video of you guys though, you're so cute together.

That really helps!! Thank you SOOO much!!🫶🏼
It fiel like magic.
Ash’s Harry Potter vlog is what made me (a 35 who never ever read or watched HP) read Harry Potter. Blew through all the books in one month
Same here. It really encouraged me to pick them up!

I just posted something so similar. It's a book to get swept into, just go along with it. It has been my favourite since its release in 2011.
OMG! A buddy read with the significant other video, yay!!!! All for it. Great selection to choose from and hope you enjoy your reads!
I was hoping he would pick assistant to the villain! Night circus was good, as someone mentioned below, it is slower but I enjoyed it.
Night Cirus is beautifully written and magical, I gave it 4.5 stars. Felt like a kid again
The writing in the Night Circus is absolutely stunning! I think you'll enjoy it.

So cute!! I love that Ian picked books that were a good blend of y'all's preferences!!
He did so good!!!
"I have no videos planned for these books"
Girl, you obviously do! Buddy reading with your husband is a video I'm sure we would all like to see! ❤

I'm amazed on what Ian selects for Asylynn to read (and what he reads), being as they are both Christians, it's nice to see.

I enjoyed the Night Circus. The prose is beautiful, but it was different for me. It took me a couple of chapters to get really invested, but I did enjoy it. The romance was really good. 💕
