    I fixed two of these recently and have some suggestions. The board has two layers of plastic tape over the board. The under layer has cutouts at the button positions to hold the floating contactors in place and then there is a second layer that covers everything like a membrane to hold the buttons in place and seal out water. If you peal back the top layer in the corner where the turn buttons are you can remove the button, clean the underside and clean the circuit board pads. Once they are clean you can put the button back in place and push the plastic layer back down. The build up can happen on the center of the button and pad as well as at the four contact points on the corners of the buttons. The button center and center pad are the most common point of concern. On another foot pedal I cut the copper on the board to create seperate pads so I could installed low profile momentary switches soldered directly to the circuit board in the same location as the original position and then modified the connectivity with wire. In this case I had to modify the underside of the nylon button pusher that get moved by the foot pad cam as they needed to be thinned to compensate for the thickness of the buttons. In this case the original buttons and pads were not recoverable and I was trying to prove I could rebuild the unit with my own design. I have a few other idea that I would like to try which would eliminate the switches on the board and mount switches directly under the foot pad.

    This video really helped me I had 3 of them one was parts no circuit board no cord but all plastic pieces. Other 2 one no left other no speed .. took them all apart used out of parts one 4 finger plastic piece.. mine only had 3.. no left. That was fixed now. Other one I had a crack on circuit board speed. Gorilla glued it down. And used dielectric grease fixed it. Now got 2 working. . Looked on ebay 350 American . Thanks for the video cheers

    Thanks for sharing, I got mine to work after following your video. I also seen someone post to cut a business card to put under the 4 button area of the circuit board to raise for wear. works great. Thanks again :)

    Thanks! Same issue with mine - doesn't turn left. . 2004 so I understand why they don't have parts anymore. Going to do the same fix

    Thank you! I agree it's unethical Minn Kota would stop selling the older foot controllers.

    Hi there. I realize you posted this 4 years ago but hopefully you still see this. I have exact same foot pedal and board. My trolling motor won't turn right. I opened everything up, and started with ringing everything out with multimeter. The very top button, when I push it down (and it does click normally), I do NOT have continuity between green and red according to your video around 2:09 (and schematics). So that makes sense that my unit won't turn right when pedal is assembled. However, backing up a bit, I had used a knift to cut the little plastic out on the button just below it (left button) because I thought I saw some corrosion and assumed that was the bad switch/contactor. It wasn't. But after I cut the plastic out, the little metal tab under the plastic that pushes down popped up and broke off (again, on the 2nd button from top). You mentioned in your video, how you put packing tape and/or glue under to get your backup board working again? I don't understand how you achieved that? I'm not longer able to press down (and hear a click) on the 3rd button that I cut the plastic out of.... so now my unit won't turn left either because that was the left button. So I now have 2 problems. Unit won't turn right (original problem) and the little button clicks down and feels fine (but no continuity) coming off wires going to actual motor, and unit won't turn left, because I broke off the little metal tab that clicks down to make contact between the 2 circuits on the board. I still have the little metal tab, which has the 4 tiny points that stick out slightly that were connected to the board. But I see no way to re affix it to the board and it will "click" down onto the board, causing my unit to turn left (like it used to). Hopefully you know what I'm trying to say but I don't understand how you got that switch on back up board clicking down again to make contact on the board across 2 circuits. I also don't understand how the "right" button at top is clicking down just fine but no continuity out of the 2 wires mentioned above. I'm afraid to cut that one open too and ruin that little metal tab too. Any ideas??? Thanks so much!!

    I need your help! My foot pedal gas been laying in my boat for 12 years with leaves in the bottom that plugged the drain so it was underwater for months at a time. I opened it & it cleaned up like new! It "appears" everything remained sealed. Do you know the best way to clean those little holes ib the plus so I can test the pedal?

    Is this for the autopilot model.....found one but it is a cordless model and still works well. Curious about the autopilot on these....if you troll straight and wind blows does it still adjust to keep the same line without needing to adjust ? Waiting to hear back from Minn Kota. Thanks

    So do you have any idea why or a fix for the footpedal turning left and right is slow? Went out for the first time and noticed it was slow, so used my "spare" pedal that has alredy been repaired by motor clinic and the turning works fine. Any idea what the glitch could be? Guess I'll used my spare as fishing tomorrow and take it apart on a off day.

      probably for the same reason, I think the corrosion of the buttons not making good connection

      @bossrockin Thanks, will be hittting the lakes tomorrow and take #1 foot controller apart in the next couple of days.

      Will check it out. I've had thus MK PD55 for 6 years and ever since I had my first problems with the foot pedal I take extra care to keep it dry and clean but #hit happens so I always carry a spare one.

      Well after I took my #1 footpedal apart and checked and cleaned it all out, (I have two motors and footpedals) it turned left and right at the correct speed at home. After a few hours out on the lake I noticed that it had started to turn slower again. Hooked up my spare, #2 pedal and the
      motor rotates, turns, at the correct speed. When I got home I hooked tried both pedals on my spare motor and the same results happened with both pedals. The control board was replaced by Motor Clinic only three seasons ago,and all the control board contact "blisters" are intact. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what's going wrong.

    so mine will turn both right and left however will only run turning right. When i press for the motor to run going straight or left it clicks like it is recieving power however the prop doesnt spin. A few times i have gotten it to work by shaking the main coil chord that goes into the motor head. Could this be a loose connection or is it motherboard/foot pedal issue?

    Any advice on a foot pedal that turns fine but won’t engage the propellor I think it’s in the slide?

    • @bossrockin
      @bossrockin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the board with me at the moment. it is up north. but from what I see on the video there are 2 other buttons on the board. I think one is for prop on and one is for momentary prop on. see if one of those buttons is corroded. If it is the slide I don't know how to fix that.

    I have the same unit. It wouldn't turn right but would turn to the left. I watched the above video and put a little piece of cardboard between the board and the base plate and now I'm back in business.
