  • Garlic is undoubtedly one of the most powerful medicinal herbs. Here I share a few ways that you can use Garlic to obtain really great health. I forgot to mention that you can also use the oil for ear-ache, (providing the ear drum has not burst.)
If you are interested in using Garlic as a herbal medicine, have a look at my "Introduction to Herbal Medicine" course. danusirishherbgarden.com/prod...
I also offer the Wise Woman Way course which follows the Celtic Wheel of the Year and celebrates the Irish festivals. danusirishherbgarden.com/wise...
My books, The Weed Handbooks are available from the shop on the website and are available as hard copy or digital.

I grate garlic every morning into a bowl with olive oil, turmeric, black pepper, pink salt and a good amount of dried cilantro. I add a couple big dollops of Greek yogurt and mix that all together. Then I add a big scoop of collagen and top it with kimchi. I'm 60 years old and feel like I'm 25 and guessed to be no more than 40 by most people. And I never get sick😁

Garlic Relish: One whole bulb garlic, peeled and chopped. One bunch of parsley (the kind you like), chopped up with the garlic (after the garlic has already been chopped), put in bowl, cover with green olive oil, touch of apple cider vinegar, and a dash of salt. Enjoy on bread, crackers, or spoon.

For a cold I make garlic tea: one crushed clove of garlic in a mug, the juice of half a lemon, and honey to taste. Pour hot water over it and let it steep. It works like a charm and you barely taste the garlic. You can strain out the garlic, but I like to eat ut. :)

🧄💖🧄💖 This is fabulous ! I have NOT had COVID and have not been vaccinated and I believe it's due to the two FRESH cloves of garlic I chop up and eat with my dinner nightly. I am 53 with children and so healthy and believe it's due to being a life long garlic eater and lots of sunshine and fresh air. Drink lots of water and some lemon does help ease the stench of garlic. So much peace, love, and light 🌅💖🌅💖🌅

Apart from all the other health benefits, i also notice that it helps build collagen, makes the skin and eyes clear and bright.
BUT COULD YOU PLEASE GIVE ME TIPS ON WHAT TO TAKE WITH THE GARLIC TO REMOVE OR REDUCE THE ODIOUS SMELL ?

Hi again! I just chop up a few cloves up into tiny pieces, let them sit a while and then down them with a pint of water...my 'pills' for the day :) But...that's not for everyone, and creating what you have is far more pleasant and saves time in the long run so when I've completed my studies for the day (naturopathic nutrition) I'm going to make a start.

In my family there was garlic soup for dinner every day as a starter. It's a traditional Spanish dish. When I had Covid it was the only food I could tolerate, and it really helped so much,it lowered my temperature and made me feel well. And it's so tasty! Surprisingly, the taste is mild, not strong at all.
    I loved your videos❤

    • @Maricruzgarrido.
      @Maricruzgarrido. ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@peacewins3281 this is how we make it in Spain:
      (Per person):
2 cups of water ( because it'll evaporate when you boil it later)
      5 garlic cloves
      1 fresh green pepper
1 dried sweet pepper or a piece of sweet, fresh red pepper instead.
      Stale bread ( baguette type)
If celiac,(like me),you can use gluten-free noodles instead
      Extra-virgin olive oil
      Salt.
      Optionally, an egg.
Peel the garlic cloves and cut them into thin slices. When the water boils, add the garlic and the peppers ( we don't cut the peppers,so they can be served on a different plate afterwards). Boil for about 15/20 minutes, (medium fire).
Meanwhile, cut the bread into thin slices, like a handful of slices per person. When the garlic is cooked, add the slices, called "sopas", pour some olive oil and add the salt. Boil it all for 5 more minutes.
Optionally, you can crack an egg into the soup in the last five minutes too and stir so that it dissolves . That makes the soup thicker and more nourishing.
Garlic soup is an essential part of traditional Spanish houses like mine. It has many variations, some.people add onion too, also leek. Others add artichokes. But the essential ingredient is garlic: 5 or 6 cloves per person, It has countless properties. And the taste is so mild. Even people who don't like garlic, love it.
I hope you like it ❤️🌿

Garlic. What can I say? YUM is the first thing! My mom grew tired of me getting sore throats growing up, so in the late 70’s, she discovered the benefits of garlic and started giving me pills in the form of oil. I burped them at school which was embarrassing. She then found garlic oil with parsley. Still burped them. The upside? NO sore throats!! Since then (I was about 14) I’ve rarely had an cold type illness in over 40 years! I chop it raw and put it on toast, put it in stir fries, made garlic oil and pesto. My youngest once sniffed me and said “you always smell like mommy”. I laughed and said “what do I smell like??” She said “garlic!” Omg, that was so funny and we all still joke about it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and ideas for usage Terry! Oh and give us a tour of your new flooring when you are finished? I’m happy you are on the better side of your project ☺️

Not only does the garlic keep all winter, but the oil is delicious. I find that periodically my body craves garlic. I don't always know why, but I trust the impulse and eat more. It significantly lowers my blood pressure and it really helps with infections and asthma.

Garlic crushers are very handy. Just put cloves in, squeeze the handle, and...mashed garlic! Just get a good solid one. Plastic ones can have handles that bend while the garlic stays whole.
A friend of mine just places it on the board and crushes it with the side of her knife.

Absolutely love this video! Garlic is my favorite culinary and medicinal herb, keeping us well-fed and healthy. What would food be without garlic? And what would we do without garlic to keep us healthy? I also make a fermented honey garlic. Fill a small jar with whole cloves and then fill the jar with raw honey. After some time it will start to ferment and bubble with healthy probiotics. What could be better for the immune system than raw honey, garlic, and probiotics? It makes a great immune booster and the raw cloves and honey (the honey becomes very thin after fermenting; that is normal) are great in salad dressings. So sorry to hear about the leak. Anything that disrupts our home is most stressful as our home is our refuge. Peace be with you friend.

Great video! Garlic is so easy to grow with success, everyone ought to learn how to grow it. Even a 3' x 5' bed will grow a useful amount, since you can store it. There's plenty of detailed advice on TH-cam!

For earaches, a garlic clove can be chopped and browned in a few drops of pure mustard oil (I suppose you could also use olive oil). Once the oil is at body temperature, a couple of drops in the ear can do the trick. Also, a large clove of garlic placed in the ear pinna, not in the ear canal, before going to sleep at night can be used for the same.
This is a home remedy used in our part of the world. You may like to consult your doctor.

Perfect timing, I got slammed by a chest cold this week. (just in time for Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend.) I hadn't thought about a tincture, one thing I was going to do is whole cloves in a jar of honey to eat daily. I made myself some elderberry syrup and have been drinking lots of herbal tea with honey.
So happy to see you back, I hope your home is back in order soon!

The Gypsy way is to put the leaves of wild into a child shoes until you can smell it on his breath. There was a child in Lepton village Huddersfield during the war he always had a bad chest and this was recommended by a woman from a passing Gypsy village of caravans and it worked the boy was cured.

Dear Terry, I find very interesting your recipes with garlic, something that I love and use every day. I am from Greece and we have two recipes with garlic that we use frequently. The first is, σκορδαλιά , and I don't know what it, 's called in English. You take potatoes and you boil them and then you add garlic, olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. You mix it all and you have a great dip for fish. Also, we have τζατζίκι, another Greek name, for yogurt, cucumber, and garlic. You grind them and add the yogurt with salt pepper, and olive oil. This is a recipe for meat. Forgive my mistakes and thank you .Bye.Αντίο.

Wonderful to see you Terri. And the adorable dogs. Another great video. Thank you! Yes, I believe garlic is just amazing. I use it in cooking all the time. In the summer put it raw over my salad. I used to eat it raw even when I was a child. Just love it. Although can’t eat too much raw now, as my stomach doesn’t really agree with it much. Also, my mum used to give it to us for an earache, put a clove inside the ear, obviously, carefully, not a big clove and not too far inside. Anyway, yes, garlic is in my opinion number one food used as medicine. Actually, I remember from childhood being named “the Russian penicillin”.
Looking forward to your next video, Terri.❤️

Wow!!! Great practical and helpful info in this video, I personally use garlic raw and massively improved my health with it over the past few years! I wouldn't have thought about making tinctures as you've shown here and know from my knowledge of Olive Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar that these will be very beneficial too! Also didn't know about the ancient way of taking garlic, however that makes good logical sense too as I had pain relief medication administered in the same way in hospital a few years ago. Thank you for this great video and I wish you the best of health, wealth and happiness! :)

I was taking garlic oil high potency capsules. When I ran out I decided I can't afford to buy them any more as so expensive. After a week I came down feeling quit rough with a headache. So I chopped up some shop bought garlic and put in cider vinegar in a jar. I have been taking it on a teaspoon (garlic and the apple cider) every day but it is starting to smell after 4 days. Do you know how long it can last in the fridge ? It also upsets my stomach a little.
