The original vehicle Voltron was the one toy I always wanted but could never afford. I would stare at it in the toy store window for as long as I could. When SOC came out, I got three. Great story. Thanks for sharing your heartfelt story.

I remember when I got Voltron for Christmas, that made my Christmas. I had gotten the die cast Lion Voltron. I remembered back when the Vehicle Voltron which was referred to as the Car Voltron to some fans came on TV, I couldn't get into it at first. As I got older, I developed a new appreciation for this Voltron. I own the series on DVD. I seen the same VV figure on Amazon , hoping for the day I can save enough money to buy it, & add it to my collection.
Stories like these are why collecting is fun.
@KatosKollection Right, do have the cheap knock off recolored version the Vehicle Voltron figure which was called LSA Combo. I know I'ma have to kick out som dough if I wanted to get legitimate one. Hopefully one day I can get it.

Growing up in the Philippines means watching Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Grendizer, Daimos etc. So Voltron Lions and Vehicles was a given. Got my Golion and Dairugger a while back. Awesome review. Appreciate the story of your 1st Dairugger toy. You did pronounce Soul of Chogokin correctly

Great vid! I’m an 80’s kids too and I am collecting toys that reminiscent of my past childhood too. Got the Voltron by Blitway and Voltron Dairuger SOL. And just recently purchased at Amazon Gaiking and Dairyu Maryu GX100. I also pre-ordered Mazinger Z 50th Anniversary can’t wait for that next year. More power to your channel bud! 🔥🔥🔥

I also asked my mom for Voltron when I was a kid and she bought the vehicle one. I was disappointed at first, but that disappointment did not last long. I did see some of the vehicle Voltron cartoon and the figure was very accurate to that show. The 1980s lion Voltron toy was very ugly. I ended up preferring the vehicle version to the lion version and still do to this day.

Great review, now I want one! I liked your story about your grandpa; that bonding stays with you for life. For my grandpa and myself, it was Looney Tunes, Far Side comics and jigsaw puzzles.
I have a similar “missed opportunity ask” re: Voltron, as well. I seem to remember asking for the vehicle team that combined from separate vehicles (might’ve been Matchbox?), and got a smaller diecast version that was a single non-transforming robot. … And the dance with modern toy makers cashing in on middle aged nostalgia continues. 😐

I'm desperately fighting the urge to get the lion force set but $ is a bit tight for that right now

Man, thanks for sharing your feelings about this figure. I really love Transformers collectors and how much collecting means to us. My stepfather was a Jehovah's witness, which sucked because I lost every holiday when mom married him. My mother would sneak toys to me on their anniversary, to make up for losing Christmas. I also got the vehicle version of Voltron because I didn't know that there was more than one and didn't mention the lions. She loved the mini bots and bought me any she thought were cute. When she passed away last year, I found her collection of my toys she kept. So I'm building a display to show her favorite bots next to the Masterpiece version.
So much of this hobby is therapeutic. Even watching your video and feeling happy that another person at my age, 46, has had similar experiences.

Are you in on the upcoming Voltron GoLion? I have both and they are centerpieces in my collection. I wouldn’t mind Bandai giving MO Transformers a try after handling their VF-1S Macross figure.

The vehicle Voltron was always my favorite as a kid... just seemed cooler to me. I would pretend to be that Voltron as a kid instead of doing my homework. Wasn't there a 3rd Voltron that was made up of 3 humanoid robots?

I actually watched the original cartoon that got dwarfed by the lions.
I remember seeing pictures for a 3rd Voltron toy that seemed to be robots that oddly stacked their body parts atop themselves. But never seen anything ever come of it.
Yeah, I think that one is called Voltron 2. It's a weird one 🤣
I guess I know I'm old when I remember something I haven't given thought to in 35 years.
