    In elementary school, I was chosen to be an angel, in a Christmas play. When a white little girl had enrolled in our school play, the teacher who was in charge of the play, took me out of being an angel and replaced me with the white girl! She said that the white girl looks more like an angel, therefore would make a prettier angel!!

Some Teachers even used to treat us bad in school and it was obvious why they did that. Even one of my friends had dark dad and white mom and when the teacher found that out she told her she never knew her mom was white and then she treated her a bit better than before we were shocked when she asked her that. It doesn’t matter where your from but about what’s in your heart if you have a pretty face but a disgusting heart I can no longer see that pretty face but your ugly heart. So many little black girls feel this way. We are often told we are not good enough or beautiful. Growing up I didn’t see a representation of myself on tv, ads, books etc.
    People would say things like “you’re pretty for a black girl”, or “you’re pretty for dark skin girl”. I would be teased about my skin complexion and features, which gave me a complex at such a young age. Especially being teased by my peers in school, it is very important to speak love into your children.

    I wish ppl would stop saying that "someone told that child she's ugly" bc the reality is how many popular demand black dolls, t.v. characters/children actors are on the media that represent little black girls with locks, natural braids/cornrows, or commercial advertisements, etc etc with darker brown complexions shown real love and adoration? on a regular basis? So, it may not be that she was told by any one in particular in her surroundings, but the lack of hearing and seeing it on a daily or regular basis that little brown girls are adored. Children can see what's going on in this world, they just do not always know how to express it or express it in the best possible way of their purest little hearts in their honesty what concerns them.

      @dperry1 It's not just that (which I agree), these girls are seeing their counterpart (black males) literally worshiping and praising white women, light skin and just about anything that is not dark chocolate. Look at all of these videos all over the net of black men saying that they are not attracted to dark skin women. Look at how often rich and successful black men marry and choose lighter or pale skin as wives, even if he's dark chocolate himself. Look at all of the vitriol they speak about darker complexioned black girls. The signals are indirectly and directly being sent to darker black girls that they are not beautiful, valued or wanted. Babies are more perceptive than we think!

    • @Mamihood
      @Mamihood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      ThePltsweet you want her to mom to confront society??? More than likely it’s what she sees in our culture. I am speaking from personal experience. I thought I was ugly as a child and I looked like a cute baby doll. When I think back no one said it to me although someone may have said it to Arianna. It also may be that she has observed life and noticed things that made her feel this way.

    • @ThePltsweet
      @ThePltsweet 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Mamihood I don't think children can believe they're ugly solely by looking at images in media. Children can be cruel and most of us were bullied and teased growing up. As such I dint think I was beautiful enough growing up being skinny. Plus only when i grew up did i realize that all my light skinned friends used to get more attention, though as a kid I never processed it because kids have such innocence.
      My point is it may not be media or adults telling her but kids in school or the neighborhood. And therefore the mum needs to at least find out.

    • @iismyalias
      @iismyalias 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @ThePltsweet From personal experience, I can vouch for the correctness of your first sentence. The basic ideas about my looks on a personal level didn't come from the media. Nor didn't I look at a Barbie or any doll and think I was supposed to look like that. My ideas that I was wanting in looks came from the people around me and was reinforced by mainly classmates (usually the black ones who assumed it as some kind of privilege) through middle and high school. Once internalized, it is difficult to shake but I managed to do it after many years on my own. That's why I'm glad this little ray of sunshine got intervention early in her life. This will stay with her that Shabria the rapper (a ray of sunshine herself) stepped in. I wish more people would do the same. It really does take a community to rear a child.

She is obviously an important figure in their lives and it truly is an amazing feeling when you meet someone you admire and they're just as gracious, kind, and humble as you hoped they'd be in real life. This little girl is adorable and incredibly beautiful. The person who put the idea in her head that she's ugly, they're the ugly ones on the inside. Internal ugliness is a terrible thing and it can spread like a disease, but I'm glad that this little girl has such strong and compassionate women in her life looking out for her. Lol you need help. Someone hurt you? Get therapy and stop blaming white women and black men. There’s a reason he left you and it’s not the color of your skin. If that were the case he would’ve never even been with you. Unless he was just bored and horny and you were easy. People are going to be with whoever they want to be with. Want a man to stick around? Get him to MARRY YOU. If he won’t MARRY YOU then do NOT have a baby with him. And before anyone replies “people get divorced! Marriage doesn’t keep a man” im aware. But in general if a man doesn’t love you enough to marry you then he’s not serious about you and won’t be there for you or your child. And “pregnancy isn’t always planned” birth control is a thing. USE IT. The failure rate is so low of you use it properly.
