- John Fogerty performs "Proud Mary" live at the Farm Aid concert in Tinley Park, Illinois on October 4, 1997. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

I go back to 1969, me a 14 yo kid when first heard CCR, fell in love with them, to me the best group ever in existence. I planted a good musical seed on my son, this coming June we'll be watching John Fogerty's concert in Madrid, God permiting it.
Very cool to see people keeping real music alive by introducing their children to "classic rock" or what I like to refer to it as "forever rock n roll". I'm 44 and I can thank my mom for my love of music.

True Story...My Mom had a Boyfriend that worked on the River...I was about 3 or 4, Mother and we lived in a second story apartment. When he would come back from being on the river for 30 days I would sing him this song as he got out of his car, from the second story window. He remained my friend until he passed.
John Fogerty was a brilliant composer, singer and guitarist. His live concerts were superb. Credence Clearwater Revival would have never made it without him. PROUD MARY is a classic, but UP AROUND THE BEND would bring crowds to their feet.

He puts on a great show. If you haven't seen him live you should. He's very active on stage and he still sounds great!!👍

I just saw him Las Vegas last month. He opened with this including a three piece horn section. 70 years old and the man still has it. He was better than the two times I saw CCR in the 60's.

I used to cover this song on guitar, it's a great song!
He was the master of the simple and catchy rock riff and economical solo. I heard on a documentary Prince saying this was the first guitar song he learned. And the riff was what me me learn to play the guitar all those years ago.
