In order to expand on your comment I must add that ( in standard tuning) there are actually two pairs of notes that are the same. There are two G’s and two D’s. Also for a beginner who might not understand this, these pairs are an octave apart. I do not think of the them as the same note. Nor do I think that these notes being the same necessarily makes the banjo “easier “ to play. Of course, that’s just my opinion.
@@aceofspades1658 I am not a banjo player by any means but I did mess with one for a while and could make it sound halfway decent and it was a junk banjo. I’m just saying that when you look at someone playing a banjo it looks like it would be extremely difficult to learn but it’s not as hard as it looks.
@@Commentleaver-c6x Since it's so easy and not that difficult, then perhaps you should post some videos of your three finger roll skills...we'll be waiting.
@@russellmartin171 i don’t have a banjo or I would. Again I’m not saying it’s easy, but it’s not has hard as it looks and sounds. :someone who is musically inclined can pick it up fairly quickly.
@ Yes, I am aware of the Petersens and listen to them occasionally. While “Backwoods” is strictly Bluegrass, the Petersens are what is called “Americana”. I don’t consider them to be Bluegrass. I wish they were more so.
There are a few videos that I wish I could give a double thumbs up to. This would definitely be one! What an awesome cover of a great song! Music at its finest.
Been watching you guys for a while and you guys are great musicians. Sarah's banjo playing is so smooth and clear, I can hear Ron Stewart's playing in yours. Really enjoying the music and I love the second banjo breaks and all the riffs, looking forward to hearing more and hope to see you guys somewhere soon, see a show and jam some. Great cover of a great Jerry Reed song
Y'all are great. I really appreciate your music. How's about a rendition of Prisoner of the Highway by Ronnie Millsap. Your sound would be great on that.
Come to Groton Massachusetts. Groton Hill Music Center. I put in a request to them to book your band. I'll wear my green "Backwoods Bluegrass Band" hat if you come.
Sarah I would love you do some videos on teaching some of your style of playing banjo you’re so smooth love your playing if possible I’m waiting on the first one
Jerry Reed would be proud.
Snowman ya mean
You dad-burn right.
In the late 60s, we picked up Jerry at the airport for a show in our small town. I carried his guitar in for the show. I was probably 9 years old.
She makes banjo picking look so easy, great harmony you guys are the bomb!
It’s not easy but it’s also not as hard as it looks. You really are only dealing with 4 strings since 2 of them are tuned the same.
