1) Reliable and time tested engine (Its based on Honda's 150 CC engine. Its an bored out version) 2) Around 14.5 Nm of torque sets in early as 2400 RPM. In other 160's CC bike, this torque comes in only above 6000 RPM..So this torque is usable torque in city rides..Would leave other 160's way behind during zero to 60 Kmph.. 3) Low service costs and also low maintenance.. 3) Lot better in comfort 4) Practicality and Hero's reliability.. 5) After 3rd or 4th service, this can ensure continuity of service as its an simple engine to maintain..In any long drive and if in no authorized hero service land, you can expect for any road side mechanic's to fix issues for you. 6) As its carborated, no problems with FI failures or FI pump failures..Carburetors are literally failure free when compared to FI. FI pump life depends on purity of the fuel. 7) Less complex engine to maintain...Image what would be the state if external air or liquid cooler fails...bike does not move an inch (because cooling system siege to work as liquid or oil coolant would not circulate and thus engine head can go for a toss in such scenario's )...no hassle in this regard with this bike. Well I am from Shimla. We regularly go to These Hatu peak - kufri - Narkanda sites on weekends. I have Two bikes 160 and 180 One has been customised into Dirt Bike. I go on fresh snow during snowy season but not on snow frozen from days turned into ICE. And Even my 160 is better to cover all these destinations. What I have felt is that your bike needs to be heavy the best way is to have someone seated with you because your bike will fluctuate a lot on these rocky patchy off roads. And Engine even 160 is ok but Better the power Engine more the control power and Grip which is good. Around Shimla till Narkanda or even Sarahan Valley (Rampur) 180 is Good. But as soon after that when you enter Distt. Kinnaur you need a powerful Engine. Any bike can carry a single person. But for two and that Grip. You need anything up than 160. When you will resch kinnaur you can drive honda activa there towns are well maintained but to reach that town is a real job specially if season is snowy or it rained last night. Even last nights rain can make roads hard to drive next day ahead of Sarahan to kinnaur. And Snow can ruin your whole trip even if you are on 4 wheels. Your car or jeep will skate on snow like zero grip on the road. If you have ever done roller skating you can understand. But THING IS EVEN 160 IS GOOD ARPUND SHIMLA. BUT YOU NEED A "GOOD WEIGHT IN YOUR BIKE" #"BETTER EXTRA GRIP TYRES" #"SOUND DISC BREAKS. #DRUM BREAKS WONT DO. #ATLEAST SINGLE DISC IS MUST. #ALWAYS DRIVE ON A NORMAL SPEED MOUNTANEOUS RACKS ARE NOT FOR SPEED THRILLS. THEY ARE NATURE TRIPS AND DEMAND SENSITIVE DRIVING. SOMETIMES YOU MAY GO KILOMETERS WITH A GOOD ROAD AND THEN A SUDDEN BUMP IN THE ROAD WHICH CAN BE FATAL REALLY REALLY FATAL SO GO ON A NORMAL SPEED SO YOU CAN CONTROL ALL BLUNDERS ON ROAD. I THINK OTHER THINGS ARE THERE THOSE MATTERS MOST IN TOUGH TERRAIN BIKINGS. YEAH ENGINE POWER ALSO MATTERS BUT LOT OTHER THINGS MATTERS. 160 ENGINE WORKS FOR SHIMLA AND AROUND. 200 cc is capable & enough for city + highway Proud to be Pulsar rs 200 3years ownership No problems till now A good Sportztourer 200cc machine full fill my all need.
At what RPM NS 200 does 100KMPH? Hero xtreme was almost redlining at that speed. I don't think xtreme could sustain 100KMPH for a long time if ridden continuously at that speed.

If you are a hard core tourer than you should must considered 400 cc but if you are a weekend tourer than 200 or 250 cc is enough even more than enough.

मैंने हीरो ग्लेमर 125 cc पर असम में ही कई रोड ट्रिप 500+km किए हैं। 50/60 की स्पीड पर 75+माइलेज मिलती है। सात साल हो चुका है और 50,000 km दौड़ा चुका हूं। कहीं कोई दिक्कत नहीं आई। 2000 km पर इंजन आयल बदलता हूँ खुद और एयर फ़िल्टर साफ करता हूं। अब पहली बार टायर बदलने की सोच रहा हूँ।

Sir how long can this be ridden continuously, at a speed of around 70kmph. Do we have to take 10mins breaks after every hour, or it can go longer without overheating. The usual engine heat is fully acceptable, it's the engine damaging overheating that concerns
I have done many rides with many groups and i can say, Bajaj pulsar 200 NS AS & RS, Duke 200 gives better results on highway compared to any other 200cc bikes. Even in city they give a decent milage and performance. But there's no comparison with Dominar on highway. Dominar's power is too good for cruising.

i ride my NS200 on weekends on Chandigarh - Shimla highway. 200 cc is good for plane highways. But it is less comfortable in off road conditions.handling and braking is confident on highways .
My NS200 gives best highway acceleration , best top speed (like d400) , 40kmpl mileage ( for 6th gear ) , 35kmpl mileage in city & best headlight with 60/55watt halogen lamp . So choose a proper motorcycle even in 200cc category . HERO XTREME 200R just a powerful commuter motorcycle not a sports bike like NS200
