Dr. Lamine Koivogui and his team were sent to investigate a mysterious, deadly disease spreading through Guinea in March 2014. Almost immediately, something went very wrong. In this exclusive video produced by PBS's FRONTLINE, in association with The New York Times, Dr. Koivogui tells how they discovered the disease was Ebola.

Sadly if Khalil had a viral hemorrhagic fever especially Ebola which is what he had and he started to hemorrhage which is what happened even if he received the best possible medical treatment appropriate for treating viral hemorrhagic fevers like Ebola his chances of survival were slim to none medical experts believe that Ebola patients who do not begin to hemorrhage have a much more positive prognosis and a much higher chance of surviving Ebola although long term health complications are possible in patients who survive Ebola even after they recover from the virus whereas Ebola patients who do begin to hemorrhage generally are considered to be entering the terminal phase of Ebola, patients who begin to hemorrhage after being infected with Ebola are unlikely to survive even if they receive immediate intensive emergency supportive medical treatment appropriate for treating Ebola those patients are unlikely to survive once they begin to hemorrhage
