What is your ultimate dream car? Have you gotten a chance to drive it?

I'd actually love a drive of this car. My wife hired a Series II coupe for my 25th birthday and I really enjoyed that although the car was pretty tired and it was hard to find gears in a pretty worn gearbox. A combination of V12 and manual gearbox really is a recipe for success in my book, particularly in a car that isn't too heavy.

I've owned both my dream cars . You'll be surprised how humble they were .
      Triumph spitfire 1500 .
And Ford Zodiac Mk4 3.0 v6 Essex executive auto .
As I worked for Austin Rover I was lucky to experience many Jaguars but never owned one . Worked on and driven and enjoyed customers cars . Driven E types and xjs's and xj's from one end of the country to the other .
And always thoroughly enjoyed them . I was also being paid ( bonus !) .. Often drove back in a diesel Maestro van .
      Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤

Adam , you may be a 30yr old car guy but you're extremely knowledgeable when it comes to jaguars. You own a bunch of them . You look after more of them for other people . You also have a TH-cam channel which shows your passion and skill .
You're also totally genuine and a gentleman . That's why this chap was more than happy to let you loose with his gorgeous E type .

As a child (too many years ago) my nose would stay glued to a Jaguar dealership window every time I went out for a walk with my parents and passed by. Maybe I had the spirit of an old man but I was in love with the Jaguar XJ; 20 years ago I was able to make that love come true when I was able to buy a Daimler Double Six SIII... and this love story continues today...

It's very obvious from all your videos that you'll take at least as good a care of someone's car as the owner would. If you wore your hat backwards, fixed everything with a hammer and did lots of burnouts then you'd present a different picture! I suspect there will be a lot of E types in your future. Great video, thanks.

That is what is so nice about enthusiasts, they want others to share the enjoyment they feel.
I think what you were trying to explain about the gear shift is the travel distance from gear to gear?
I recall it being a very long pull from 1st to 2nd.

Adam, this is a great video! Thank you for sharing. Your enthusiasm shone through your face and it was clear how thrilled you were to drive this wonderful machine. I, too, am lucky enough to own and regularly drive a V12 E Type and it is also my dream car. I have done all the upgrades needed to drive as far as I wish without any problems and simply smile and enjoy the driving pleasure that you showed so well.
I'd be happy to let you enjoy my car anytime! I hope to tour Europe, extensively, someday and will be certain to make a stop in Sweden.

I had my XJC Series 2 with me to work the other day and my colleagues - specially the ladys - where so exited about this car and fell in love instantly. So I let them drive it around the block, one by one. Just for the grin on their faces. And so did the owner of the e-type to you, Adam. Sharing such cars ist very satisfying for the owner, too.

Technically it’s maybe not a “hero” V12 E-type because of all the upgrades from the 70s standard spec so it’s not surprising that it wasn’t disappointing.
It’s great that you got to enjoy someone else’s perfect car when your channel started with and still features a beloved no-frills everyday Leyland era XJ6 with a constant trickle of jobs to do on it !

If you want a good original S3 convertible my neighbor Tom is selling his in gloss black in and out. $50k. It doesn't have your dream engine or a 5 speed and you have to ship it over to Sweden but it's a starting off point. Personally; I don't like the S3, too long and the front grille is weird. So I'm happy with my S1 1/2.

Hi Adam - I have subscribed to your channel and was looking at your earlier videos and came across this one.
Like you I always admired the Etypes, particularly the Series 3 which are a bit more masculine than the girlie earlier versions. In 1982 when I was 27 I was able to but a Series 3 convertible very much like the one you test drove - my feelings are very much as yours were - and some 40 years later they still the same as I still have that car though it is now in for a full restoration.
6 weeks ago I bought a 76 XJC V12 and the first thing that struck me was how similar the cars felt to drive when I had the hardtop on the Etype despite their different front suspension systems. The XJC has had some little tweaks do the engine where the Etype is standard with its carbs - the Etype is definitely quicker but then it is a few hundred kg lighter.
Yes that feeling that you get when you first drive a Series 3 Etype stays with you for a long long time.

This is # 2 dream car. Yes I drove one of these back in 71 when it was at the showroom in North St.Louis,Mo. My #1 dream car is a Lola MKIII B. I don't think that I will ever get a chance to drive one. Been dreaming about it since 1969. I would do a few things differently on this Jag but it's still fabulous. Don't crash it.

Great stuff Adam - I think we all share your ear to ear grin! My Xj-S V12 has the AJ6 inlet manifold and throttle mods as you describe for this car as well as a modified ECU and exhaust system to match. As you say the great thing about the engine modifications is that nothing is changed externally and everything looks as if it was factory original. Needless to say the performance is somewhat enhanced and I enjoy plenty of ear to grins. here´s to more of same! Best regards.

I'm sure l heard a funny noise coming from the engine ......l think you'd better give the owner a call and tell him you have to give this beauty a very extended test drive !!! You can actually still get "Standard " FHC 's for relatively affordable money and Series 2 2+2 's are relative bargains . A really good car sold for £25 k a couple of months back. ..... Keep the dream alive !

I always thought Jaguar made a mistake by not putting a loder dual exhaust system on its V12 models so they would sound like a Ferrari. The Jag exhaust systems on the V12's was too muffled and restrained for me -- far too quiet, almost like driving an electric car. That said, there is nothing better than the sound of a 6 cylinder XK engine with dual exhausts and glass pack mufflers.

    • @nicwilson89

That is a nice car, and generally I don't like modded cars but these are the right ones to do. The manual transforms an E-type, I drove a few auto (XK engine) 2+2s and there was a massive difference between the auto and the manual. I really didn't care for the auto. Are there many E-Types in Sweden? Since so many went to the USA, they seem to be rare in other countries. We tried to get 60 in our NSW, Australia based Jag club for the 60 year anniversary last year and I seem to recall we got about 50. Apparently there are about 100 in the club, although some of them don't get out very much. You'll have to find a series 1 or 2 to compare it to now. I have a series 1 and love it, although I've never driven a series 3 to compare. Mine is a LHD USA import, which is pretty common out here. Only mods are a more powerful cooling fan to cope with Australian climate, electronic ignition and a smaller steering wheel so my knees fit. I also changed the diff ratio to 3.07, same as the non USA cars, which is much better.
