As an Asian who lives in an area that doesn’t have a big Asian population, I appreciate these easy to make dishes. Familiar home tastes that I don’t need the Asian market for 😭💕
this reminds me of my parents' crab soup (one of my favourites!). they also use surimi (I prefer that to actual crab in the soup, actually) but also add some thinly julienned bamboo (bamboo shoots?) and/or canned white asparagus :D man this woke some cravings I totally forgot... looks great anyways!!
I recommend that you add the slurry first. Once the soup thickens up, turn off the fire. Slowly stir the soup in a single direction. Drizzle in the egg white. You will see nice long airy piece of egg white.
I made this soup last night and I'm having it again and it's so delicious. Very easy and affordable too! I made some fire noodles with some mozz cheese and fried eggs on top and eating it with some honey wings from Jewel Osco(popular in mid west-Chi area). :)
I’d like to try, but whenever I made an egg corn soup I always put the starch in 1st then only put the eggs, it will give you a nice long thin texture great combination with the crabmeat
ive never been this early but I really really love ur channel!! i've learnt so much more about different korean cuisine since i started watching your channel and have been able to bring this cuisine into my own kitchen so thank you sm for these videos!!
I've made this so many times. But I use chicken stock only, if I'm in a pinch I use better than buillion paste. If I want real chicken I use 2-3 bone in chicken thighs, skim the fat from the top if you use chicken thighs. I also add enoki mushrooms. But I love this soup for even lunch
The amazing recipe 😍is fine....but I am just curious about the vessel Dan-yul .. u kept tat transparent glass kinda thing on direct flame... wats the material ?
Not sure if this is a dumb question or not but does korean bronze wear do anything or is it just for presentation? By do anything I do not mean tricks obviously. Don't laugh too hard at me.
I’m sorry, I have a question! When you use “ sesame oil,” is it plain or toasted sesame oil? I LOVE toasted sesame oil. It’s potent and so just a few drops. I do not think plain sesame oil has much different flavor than any oil....but you do not say in your recipes which you use. Help! I want it to be just like you teach. You would laugh, my future neighbor, when I arrive at H Mart with my screen shots of your ingredients quite often. I think those people in customer service think, “ Oh no. Here comes that old white lady with her iPad photos.” 😂😂 (They are endlessly patient and helpful, really. Sometimes I end up with two or three clerks passing my phone back and forth in animated conversation trying to figure out what I’m looking for. Sometimes they argue with each other! lol I don’t have any idea what they are saying, but I’ve never been sent home with the wrong thing! It should be a video! Hahaha) xobookworm
Haha! Ah I love this comment, and your interactions at H-Mart. I think they secretly enjoy those interactions. Anyhow, for Korean cooking, we are always using TOASTED sesame oil - for all of our recipes

Never thought I’d see someone cutting up eggs white...bravo!

If I ever eat the 2x spicy noodles again, I'll be sure to make this on the side. It looks amazing!
I tried eating 2x spicy noodles. I failed miserably. 🥺
I'm drooling

I’d like to try, but whenever I made an egg corn soup I always put the starch in 1st then only put the eggs, it will give you a nice long thin texture great combination with the crabmeat

I love watching your videos you are a lovely couple...stay safe and healthy tc.
Can you do Congees?
If you add asparagus to this soup, you have Sup Mang Cua. It is what my Vietnamese friend would make on special occasions. ❤️
Super delicious 🤤, will try brother
I well try this suop
I've never been here this early!! This looks great! Yummmmmm!
Your channel has really inspired me to cook. Thank you for your wonderful content! ❤️
Beautiful! And it was relatively easy too. I love it! I need to find the measuring spoon thing you use. I hate the ones I have lol
Thanks…sooo delicious
Dashima isn’t super common where I live-would nori sheets be a good substitute?
Can I use real canned crab instead?? and how much more or less (hello from NYC)
Does anyone know the brand of the mala tteokbokki? Would love to try it.
3:14 - 3:19 - Dan-yul, you're double-jointed in your thumbs! So am I! 😀
“You will need 6tbsp water. That’s one~”
Me: one~.. 😌
“-And six.”
Me: and t- wait what? 😳😐
😂😂😂
Is the egg white mandatory ?
I've made this so many times. But I use chicken stock only, if I'm in a pinch I use better than buillion paste. If I want real chicken I use 2-3 bone in chicken thighs, skim the fat from the top if you use chicken thighs. I also add enoki mushrooms. But I love this soup for even lunch

Its a special glass pot - I forget the name of the brand (it may be French?)
Anything I can substitute if I can't find concentrated chicken stock?
Knorr gluten free chicken stock pots work brilliantly, I always use them, in all grocery shops in UK not sure about US though
What to do with the leftover yolk?
If it were me maybe i will brine it in soy sauce overnight for tomorrow breakfast
Excellent 😊👍😋
Fresh crab, at a Costco???
"Duck cookie sauce" 🤣
Thanks neighbour
Smashing the like button
I wish they sold crab like that in India
Ooooo yum

but, but... you have to put in the corn starch before the egg... to make the silky egg strands of an egg drop soup.
heh yes if you like it that way, that's true! Good tip ;-)
Is this real crab or surimi?
Haha too many sensitive topics!! Cool down with the good soup 🍲
That soup seems like it's missing something. I'm going to make it anyway.
Omg I have all the ingredients
❤

Looks slimy to me. Needs more color!!
If you make Rose Tteokbokki it's also not as spicy
