Mostly leverage and brute force. If you can get one, a plastic car trim remover tool can be useful. They're like small plastic crowbars that are designed for this sort of thing. It's also worth checking which cap you're removing, too, because some of them are held in place with grub screws. Mostly the ones on the rotary switches. Good luck!

How do you get the pot caps off! I pull at these things and they're solid. Do they just pull off?
