SF writer Alfred Bester was a genius in creating a character that ante-dated the Hulk in terms of strength while getting away with such a character at the height of the Comics Code Authority's crackdown against "the walking dead"
The OG idea of flesh-eating zombies was actually supposed to make them ghouls... but Mr. R. didn't believe anyone would know what a ghoul was, so he called his "living dead" monsters "zombies" because people knew zombies were the "living dead" types... thus having pop-culture forever calling things that are TECHNICALLY "ghouls" what they are called today... Grundy is indeed given wood-like resistance against the ring because of the swamp matter entering his body, but his "plant-like" abilities come from the Baron of York injecting him with chlorophyll. This is also the reason given for Grundy not only being resistant to the power of the green ring but feeding of it, implying that it is the chlorophyll's doing. This is incredibly ironic given that chlorophyll absorbs all the visible spectrum BUT the green part, hence why it appears so green.
Correct Grundy and doomsday are forces of nature at this point neither good nor evil they just are. Though they cause mass destruction they do it on pure instinct with no actual coherent thoughts behind it.

Not long after there was some kind of waste spill and it mutated the bodies in to one huge guy. I can't for the life of me remember what the rest of the comic was
Grundy is a good character and i never knew he was zombie but i feel as though he should of had at least a decent intellect because now i view him as zombie Hulk which isn't too bad.
VILLAINOUS character of Swamp Thing?! What?! Also, the OG Green Lantern's weakness was wood. Considering Grundy is partially made of plants and WOOD, his ring cannot do much about it. That is the real explanation.
The actual bad guy is the swamp that keeps respawning Grundy. I mean, his body is obviously not important to his existence at all, and that very swamp keeps respawning him in different forms. That sounds more like a necromancer who keeps sending an undead super-being they create, and later making a new one when the old one gets taken down.

I feel like they really should make Solomon Grundy the main antagonist of a Batman live action movie at some point. Batman could just keep running into situations where the big mutant zombie man either is, was, or will be, and unveil that in each of these places the mobsters are part of his old gang, and he has a vendetta. Batman then is left wondering whether he should even bother trying to stop Grundy, but knows that failing to do so would mean lives will be taken, even if they are the lives of criminals. By the end he might even help Grundy find peace in who he once was, putting him in Arkham Asylum to relearn who he is and who he wants to be in spite of his zombified brain.
Honestly I want him to show up in Young Justice as a member of The Light, in his more intelligent persona. Use that story from the comics where he tries to take over Red Tornado's body so we Never Dies again, or just use that as inspiration

maybe only the first incarnation was cyrus gold. i mean there were other corpses in the swamp and there isn't really a standout reason why only gold would be affected by the swamps effect. maybe grundy is in fact an amalgam of all the corpses and each incarnation draws on slightly different characteristics because of that. could also be that cyrus gold was simply the strongest influence because he was the freshest corpse when the first incarnation happened.
In the Arkham City: Order of the World #3, it's more or less implied to be the case. Grundy holds of memories from insane people that died in Gotham. This ties in with the canon established in the '90s Starman run in which he has different personalities. Gold's corpse was the original Grundy from the '40s, but we know that Grundy can respawn regardless of what happens to his body. It's a safe bet that Gold's original corpse is long gone.

Besides, Marvelous Videos is a cool and informative channel. So, for them it would be a great idea to give many people more cool content, and for us it would be a fine way to find out more interesting info.
@@deathcold_longplaysua4846 for someone who doesn't have much access, you seem to have a lot of access
Oh well, next time I won't bother trying to help
Did he have any interaction with the black lantern rings? I never got a round to reading Blackest Night or even know if the black lantern corps is still a thing after.
I would like to see Constantine's take on grundy..maybe some insight into his creation
I want a movie where it's The Joker pairing up with Grundy. But all the adds for the movie are showing a cat and mouse game between the Justice League, or even just BM and SM, and the Joker. Never once do they show Grundy in the adds but on the final add they show SM getting tossed through a building or the earth and he's just a bloody mess. Build the hype for those who know who Grundy is and make fans of the movies start guessing if it's a bigger threat.
If I had to describe Grundy, he would be an evil Avatar of The Green, created and enhanced by his own Will.
Now I want to see Grundy take a Lantern Ring.
I could of sworn Grundy was a agent of the Grey not the green.
maybe only the first incarnation was cyrus gold. i mean there were other corpses in the swamp and there isn't really a standout reason why only gold would be affected by the swamps effect. maybe grundy is in fact an amalgam of all the corpses and each incarnation draws on slightly different characteristics because of that. could also be that cyrus gold was simply the strongest influence because he was the freshest corpse when the first incarnation happened.
WHAT IF THE CHEMICAL ELEMENTS FROM THE LAZARUS PIT GOT SMUGGLED OVER THE SWAMP CREATING SWAMP THING AND SOLOMON GRUNDY .... JAMES GUNN DO SCREW THIS UP I GOT FAITH IN YOU DCU
Heated "alterations?" Do you mean altercations? Also, I'm not sure I've ever heard zombie hoardes described as "unanimous." Do you have any idea what these "big" words you keep using actually mean?
He was born on a Monday, everybody hates Mondays 🤷🏿♂
The one Hero Solemn Grundy should not fight is John Constantine.
Yeah John wins and then gets drunk and laid. Lol 😆
I want a live action mob movie about a mafioso named "Saul" Grunde. He keeps trying to correct the pronunciation to Grundy but gets cut off due to a lack of respect. Twist comes when he screws up for the last time and the mob kills him and dumps his body in the swamp. The last thing he hears is his real name. "So long Solomon!" Cut to black and cue the rhyme.
Since Solomon Grundy was first introduced in the 1940s I don't think that he is a response to the modern zombie craze.
Imagine how bad it would be if joker was the one threw into the swamp xD I wonder how screwed we would all be
Not gonna lie, I was getting some God of War vibes, as if listening to Mimir talk about Baldr while watching this vidio...
Some random hero: I woke up violent.
Grundy: That was a Tuesday for me
I wonder how Solomon Grundy would fare against The Nameless One from Planescape : Torment ...
He has the Kenny McCormick gene going on
Born on Monday, meeting supergirl on Tuesday, making supergirl preggo on wedesday😶🌫️
Is it possible that somehow a mixture of The Lazirus Pit fell into the mud that Gold's body was thrown into and caused him to return as a ZOMBIE?!
If Grundy is basically made up fromplant matter, that would mean that Poison Ivy could control him in any reincarnation without losing this control like Grodd did
Where are you getting those skeleton images from?
"heated alterations " lmao
This channel must be Intentionally including mistakes for engagement? Sometimes it's typo's or out of place words, sometimes it's calling swamp thing a dc "villain" , in a video already talking about DC.
By far, scariest menace in DC history. Not even the Joker fucks with Grundy.
i cant tell what would be worse, fighting soloman grundy or scp - 079 able both are always coming back to life, deadly, un stoppable. if i had to say id say grundy as u can run from him.
Man thing >
