      Hi , that's strange. Normaly it should start with no problem. You can acces the error menu and see what is stored.

    Borsec!!
    What kind of oil do you use? Fully synthetic, or half synthetic? 15w-50 or 10w-40?

    Is it one oil for the whole bike. Engine/transmission etc

    • @McMike
      @McMike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you drain it in 2 places and you fill it from the top - oil reservoir .

  • @SanderWierstraStudie
    @SanderWierstraStudie ปีที่แล้ว +1

    why do u do 2 drain bolts? is it the same oil for engine and transmission?

    • @McMike
      @McMike  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      do you own this bike ? If yes, please take a look at the manual.
      This one has an oil reservoir in the frame. That's why you have 2 drain places.
      One is for the reservoir and one is for the engine.

    Do u check oil warm or cold? I have 3/4th full on dipstick cold but warm its over max.

    • @McMike
      @McMike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cold. Remove the stick, clean it...then just put it in and measure.
      If 3/4. Is ok.
      Warm is normal to be more or less

    • @Krachtkamp
      @Krachtkamp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@McMike ok because manual said warm, i always did cold too. Now i took a little out. Now after shuttimg engine off after ride and wait 2 min its exactly at max. Is this fine?

    • @McMike
      @McMike  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Krachtkamp yep...it's ok.
      I do it cold so that the oil is settled...
      If it's not on minimum...than is ok.😎

    Hi mate, I've changed the oil on my Aprilia pegaso 650 from 1998 and the engine gets hot, just under the red zone, constantly(apart from riding on motorway at 70 mph). Please explain the procedure of "bleeding the oil filter" as I assume this could be the problem.

    • @McMike
      @McMike  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The '98 has the Rotax engine. You don't have to do the same procedure. Read the manual and see what engine oil did you use. The temp may be from the coolant/antifreeze..

    • @McMike
      @McMike  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For bleeding you must have a screw on top of oil filter cap. At 05-09 models after you put 1.6L you need to undo it just a little and then start the engine. When oil comes out from that screw you tighten it and then stop the engine and fill up to 2.7 L of oil. But the 98 model don't has a Minarelli, it has a Rotax as the Bmw f650 from '90-'04.

      @@McMike thanks for reply, is funny thst it starts getting hot after the oil has been changed, I suspected the thermostat too, but this was working well before and the fact that on the motorway keeps the temperature down to 80 Celsius degrees, makes me beoieve the cooling system does the job. Can this engine develop an airlock in lubricating system?

    • @McMike
      @McMike  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I can see on YT. your oil change should be as mine, you just don't have to bleed it. But I see that you have to run the engine for a few minutes and then add the rest of oil. What oil did you used? The same as before? If you have something clean to colect the oil, drain it and then repeat the oil change.
      Manual: cvieth.bplaced.net/Aprilia_Pegaso_Owners_Manual.pdf - Changing the engine Oil (p.41) : Pour about 1600ml of engine oil through the filling opening (14), see p. 68(LUBRICANT TABLE). Tighten the plug/dipstick (1). Start the engine, see p. 30 (STARTING) and let it idle for about one minute, in order to ensure the filling up of the engine oil circuit. Unscrew and extract the plug/dipstick. Pour other 600ml of oil through the filling opening (14). Check the oil level,

      @@McMike I don't know what oil has been used before as thus was the first oil chanhe since I own the bike, but I did not followed the procedure as you described it above. I'll drain it and refill it.
