If the previous owner can still see the AirPods location, it is still tied to their Apple ID. The previous owner is the ONLY one who can remove the AirPods from their Apple ID (Find My Settings > Remove Device // Bluetooth > Forget This Device - I believe they have to be connected to the AirPods though). Since AirPods can only be associated with one Apple ID, this issue will not be resolved until the previous owner removes it themselves. If you only Factory Reset it, they will still be linked to their Apple ID and can track its location through Find My. Apple Support does not have the ability to remove it either. Sorry if there was confusion in the video, but unfortunately this is the only solution.
Shoot okay that’s good information I found these AirPods at a parking lot and I’ve had them for like 4 months and been been using them, but it keeps saying the original owner is getting sent my location. So I’ve easily watched 15+ videos on how to do this but you’re the first with this information explaining my problem. I appreciate it
These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
i say just enjoy them until the owner comes to your house, lol. i can't locate the owner of ones i found in the mud. but i mean they work and i reset them. i honestly wish i could return them but there is not way.
What if the previous owner didn't remove the device from their iPhone. When I try to connect the airpods to my find my app it's says either its mismatched or I have to finish setting up my airpods
I've been getting the "AirPods are moving with you" notification for months now. I removed them from my devices with my other Apple ID's, but they still worn pair with my current one even after resetting.

It is not possible to cancel iCloud except from the old owner's account, and by formatting it, it will work with the new owner, but the Find Me features will not work completely, and the old owner can still track your location.

does that notification mean they are tracking us with “find my” app ???? do you know?? so every time that notification comes out on my phone, that means he is seeing my location that moment right ?
this kept happening to me too. you have to forget the device in bluetooth settings AND remove it from Find My for this to work. I was finally able to give away my old Airpods.

We’re not sure why you’re seeing that message, this is from Apples site directly: “If you can't remove the device or item from an Apple ID, you should reset it… When you reset your device or item, it won't provide its location information to the previous owner. However, you still won't be able to associate the device or item with a different Apple ID.”
Yea I was having same problem I manage to get good open box deal for AirPods Pro max unfortunately the person didn’t log out. Do you think if I take it to Apple they can remove it?
Something is wrong with this in the software, because simply pairing them with another person's device gives them ownership of them in Find My. I've verified this because my kids' have borrowed our AirPods and it both changes the name and it gives them ownership in Find My. Super irritating... As an aside, my Max will no longer pair with any of my apple devices, even after a reset. Not sure if these two topics are related, but it didn't happen until I loaned them to my kid.
i sold my pros to someone online, i forgot to remove my id when they were in my possession, when i sent them out is when i removed them from find my and icloud. the person who bought them says he cant connect them because theyre still connected to my apple id. help.
I hate that it's so easy to reset them, imagine someone stole your AirPods which are not cheap AT ALL, they have the luxury of just hold down a button for 15sec and it's theirs.
The Apple ID must be removed by the previous owner in order to prevent them from tracking the device. Factory resetting will not solve this issue unfortunately.
