Typical American summer, hot, humid, bad storms and time to be lazy!

My family got a pool so we've been swimming a lot, and I've been preparing to move up to the advanced beginner level at my ballet class next month!

My studio's intensive was last week, but it's been lots of work and college preparation this summer!

I walk for 2 hours with my fur baby Zico early in the morning, Pilates and functional training and ballet class. Practicing some variations too. After that I’m horizontal watching Netflix 🇵🇹🇧🇷🩰

Dancer or non dancer, time off to relax and unwind, make memories and experience new things is so important to living a fulfilled life x

I relate to that so much. That as soon as you give yourself a break it feels like it's wrong and you have to work. But trying to calm yourself down and giving yourself time to breathe is the best option❤

Thank you for sharing your feelings about having time off. I can 100% relate… it’s really hard to enjoy some time off with the fear of losing technique or getting out of shape always in the back of the mind. But it’s important to let the body rest of course. Also beautiful video as always!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Hey Hannah, thank you so much for taking the time to record your Italian holiday! What a beautiful area!
You asked people to comment whether they also have trouble taking a break or switching off?
I think this is very common among conscientious people and high achievers.
    Ask yourself:
Have you taken time off before? Was it the same amount of time as now? What happened last time? Last time, if it all worked out fine, and you found the break gave you an emotional break as well, which helped your resilience when you returned to work, then you can choose to trust yourself again this time.
If, last time, you had a problem after taking a break, maybe try to analyze what the problem was, and how it was the result of taking a break. Maybe ask your mother and the nice people you're with for advice to avoid having that problem again.
There is something I hear in artistic gymnastics a lot but I don't know if they say it in rhythmic, but the phrase is "Trust your training." The commentators say this, and the coaches say they tell their gymnasts this when they're being interviewed by the commentators. They seem to be referring to competition, and that all the many, many hours of practice, which builds muscle memory is what the gymnast can rely on when needing to perform under the highest pressure situations.
In your case, it's not exactly a competition, but it is your career and professional work environment, which is kind of like a constant, never ending test. All careers/adulthood in general are like that, but yours requires a lot more dedication given how carefully dancers have to take care of their body, sleep, nutrition, etc.
If you continually remind yourself that you can trust your training, hopefully you can shove the recurring unhelpful thoughts out of your head when they arrive. As soon as they arrive!
Hopefully this is helpful! Thank you again for showing us your holiday, and this beautiful part of Italy! Best wishes!! 🙏💐😎

It’s so true! What you said about relating back to a time when you’ve taken time off and been okay is a really good experience to have! Having had my surgery it’s taught me that you can take months off and still regain your level. I think having the injury truly gave me experiences that are going to help me throughout the rest of my career 🙌🏻

@@HannahMartinRG Yes!! Testing experiences are often unpleasant to get through, but, as cliché as this sounds, they build character and life experience, and often empathy for others when they go through something similar.
When you learn to compartmentalize more easily, so that you can almost automatically redirect thoughts or worries about work/training/body away from your conscious mind when you’re on holiday or with your family or friends, you’ll find that to be very beneficial when you are back at work.
I found it difficult to believe that turning off thoughts about work would help me, but I kept trying.
Now that I’m analyzing it looking back over 2 decades, I had feelings of guilt that if I wasn’t thinking or worrying about work in my off-time, that must mean I’m not as dedicated to my career as I could be, or should be.
After several years, I was compartmentalizing more easily, and I found I was much more refreshed at the start of the work week, and more mentally alert and even more physically energetic at work as a consequence.
Thank you so much for getting me to think through what it felt like at the start of my career! I had not consciously realized the feelings of guilt before.
Get rid of guilt as much as possible, because my psychiatrist said that guilt plays in major factor in depression. So I figure that getting rid of unnecessary guilt makes it easier to avoid depression or anything near it.
I’m so glad you’re doing so well! 😍🙌💐
