I have one of these - built by N0SA, before cwmorse got involved. It did not come with a base of any sort. I hold it in one hand while using it - I’ve done hundreds of Qs with it that way. Mine has performed without any issues. I’ve beat it up quite a bit - it gets tossed in with my gear, without a lot of protection, and it has survived. Actually, the only portable paddle I’ve had problems with is cwmorse’s “Outdoor Pocket Double Paddle”, their cheap unit.
I heard N0SA quit making it and has allowed CW Morse to make them but I have heard the same thing from many TH-camrs, N0SA's work great and CW Morse don't. I know it's double the price, but I have heard nothing but good things about BaMaTech paddles. Might go that direction for a POTA Key.
@@jimbragg8909 Yeah the original N0SA paddles were fine from what I've heard. I really want to try a BaMaTech paddle as soon as they come back in stock. Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve been playing with various different paddles and the only one I’ve found that seems to work for me was the bamakey tp-iii. The magnets lock it down to anything metallic and it has very clean movement. I ended up getting that instead of the n0sa paddle because some folks warned me about this issue.
Yeah, I see more and more complaints about this key every day. I'll be looking at the bamakey when it's back in stock. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! 73
I have all kinds of problems with this key, which sucks because I love the size. It really messed up in my latest video I put out activating a park for POTA. I had to swap keys because it was so bad.
I'm currently learning CW with a Bamakey TP-III and the leg strap thing. The magnets are VERY strong, I've got big hands and it doesn't budge! 😂 So far no mishaps or extra dits-dahs... 73 de 2E0HJN
It’s not just you. There is an issue with either manufacturing and assembly or material selection. I have had two of these from CW Morse and both had the same issue. I also have one of the same design but all metal made by N0SA himself and it has none of the issues I experienced with the CW Morse manufactured version, so that tells me the design is sound and it must be some problem with assembly method or material selection.
I've tried everything I can to get this little key to be consistent and it just refuses to cooperate. It's really a shame CW Morse keeps selling a defective product and taking peoples hard earned money! With all the complaints I've seen online, they have to know there's a problem.
@@Matt61702 Thanks for the heads up! They appear to be sold out right now, but I'll keep this one on my want list. I've got a Begali Expedition, but it's so nice I hate to take it out of the shack!

Well, CW Morse won't get any more of my money for sure!

The best field key I have used so far is the BamaTech TP-III. It’s a very high quality product made with great precision and consistency.

That's the one I plan to go with....thanks for commenting.@@Matt61702
pas géniale : instable et cw peu fiable d' après ce que je vois. Begali aventure est nettement meilleure et fonctionne très bien à la main
