UMX RADIAN GLIDER REVIEW & MODIFICATIONS THE NEXT ADVENTURE

- My last video was the final in a list of several where I dropped a glider from my Mavic 2 Zoom. It was a long tedious process of designing gliders and dropping them properly. I guess you could say, in the process of this series I have a lot of thought to "gliders." And, as I said in that last video, I needed to find something new to learn and explore. When putting those two thoughts together you can't ignore chasing an adventure with more, good gliders.
This video reviews the UMX Radian glider I purchased from Horizon Hobby and immediately fell in love with it. I'm not new to RC fixed-wing airplanes but this is the first time experiencing a totally way of flying RC. I also included a wing removal modification I made to this model.
Thanks for watching. Enjoy and God bless.

Mr. Kent....thanks for taking the time to share your mods with the rest of us. I loved the piece of cloth to hold the battery in the plane. I use a piece of painters tape to accomplish the same.
Thank you Steve for your comment. Well, - whatever works huh..? Godbless.
I’m watching this 5 years after you posted. Found it to be very beneficial and your flying was great. I enjoy seeking rising air.
Thank you for your comment. Yep that was a fun day but I wasn't sure it would turn out like it did. Thanks again and God bless.
Mr. Kent You are the Man. Awesome mod. As you were getting ready I was saying. What if Kent uses. And man you nailed it. WY much better the the magnets a household items. The Velcro wrap I am sure can be narrowed some and adds security. I am happy you pointed me here I may have watched this before and simply overlooked it. Thanks again MrKent
Well, I am very glad I could help. Keep me posted on how things go. God bless.
You are awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your experience !
Thank you for your kind words. They are appreciated. God bless.
Hi Kent! Thanks for another great video. I hadn't seen that heat-shrink kit at Harbor Freight. I like it! That's a fine piece of engineering you did on that wing-harpoon. That thing flies so nicely! God bless, my friend!
Another worthwhile successful modification Mr Kent ! And a fun flight in the park ! God bless and Happy Easter
Thank you. I went back to the park this morning with my neighbor and a friend. I think they got some good vids of my glider - we'll see. Thanks and happy Easter to you also.
Great idea ill keep than one in mind for when I finally strip the holes
Thank you for your kind words and God bless.
That was like sky dance Mr Kent. Very beautiful :)
Thank you. I'm lovin it. God bless.
I have made similar modifications to a few of my RC gliders, as I, like you, want to be able to take them apart, and don't want to be fiddling about with small screws whilst at the field. I would generally recommend a larger glider for a new/inexperienced RC pilot; something with a 1.4 m to 1.6 m wingspan; as that is still relatively small, and yet will be able to cope with a reasonable amount of wind. Anyhow, good luck, and have fun! Ian :-)
Thank you Ian. Well, I'm probably going to spend lots of time with this one. Park flyer type where I live and lack of tons of $$. I had it out again this morning in a breeze about as much as it could handle - probably 10 mph with gusts. It was fun and some friends got some arial videos so we will see how that comes out. Thanks as always for your input and happy Easter to you.
Great video
Thank you and God bless.
Awesome video and channel you have so...
Thank you for your kind words and God bless.
You lived down the street from Moses, of course you didn't grow up with RC's. LOL
Pretty smooth relaxing flyer, low stress.
Actually he lived across town (time) from me. Thanks and God bless.
Your wife’s sewing cloth mod works for the cub as well!
Thank you
How about that! Thank you for your comment and God bless.
Sir,, can you make a video on the difference in flying of aircraft of brushless and a brushed motor..?? This will help me in the understanding of efficiency of the two in practical manner..
Thank you for your question. Yes, I have a video on that already. I hope it will be helpful:

Thanks for your comment and God bless.
How long does the battery last? So when you get close to the ground you just re-engage the motor. Looks like fun! Have a great day.
Yep, like I said, I have never had so much fun flying RC and I get about ten minutes with the batteries I use. The one that comes with it is a 150 mA 25C but I easily got eight minutes out of that one. I won't be putting up many videos on it because I only have an old GoPro 4 and don't get many close-ups. Thanks for your kind words and God bless.
Nice
Thank you and God bless.
Oh mr kent Ididnt start flying RC till I was 75 , started with a beebop2 and went on from there, have a 9 Channel transmitter so I can fly anything build most of my aircraft from scratch myself .
when I crash thenm I can repair them .
Thank you for your input. You are to be congratulated. I have been trying to get good at flying RC planes for years and have not yet arrived :) You are blessed to have that transmitter too. When I first started flying control line planes when I was a kid I made all of my planes too. But anymore I'm too lazy. Thanks again for your comment and God bless.
Hi Kent, great video as usual. So, you are bored and want a " new " adventure...hehehe
Why don't you come and help me work on my wife's car (The Car From Hell). lol
Just as an update after replacing the water pump, coolant tank, serpentine belt, and harmonic balancer pulley and seal, it appears now that Christine has either a blown head gasket or timing chain cover gasket (or both) because it looks like it has coolant mixed with the oil. lol
I haven't been flying my Bebop2 because it has been to windy, most days we get 20+ mph winds here (it's spring time here in the desert).
I'd love to stay and chat but I have to go work on " Christine- The Car From Hell "... LMAO !
God Bless :o)
Bless your heart. I enjoying watching the doctor operating on someone with such a lovely name. I would love to be able to come visit and help. But $$ and sense prevent it. :) I don't mind being the "goto" guy.
In past summers here in AZ I have opted to fly the little park fliers in the morning because of the heat later on. Thanks for the comment and God bless.
I have had my UMX glider for the past 4 years. It is doing fine. Last year I noticed if I completly turn off the motor, it will not restart. I still fly it but keep the motor on just enough so it will go when I need it. I ended up ordering the full sized Night Radian. You cannot buy the regular Radian or Radian Pro any more. Horizon has a bad habit of making great planes, then discontinuing them.
Thanks for your input. Yep, I love that glider - don't know why your motor has that issue unless one of the brushes is bad. Thanks again and God bless.
I think that one of the inputs is shot. Generally, as the moror turns , current carrys the winding to the next armature which forwards it to the next and so on. As you stated, there is a good chance one of the armatures isn't sending current, so if it stops in that spot, it will not move to the next one. Only on initial start up does it carry enough power. I think I paid $89 for the UMX Radian 4 years ago, so its served me well. It was time to move on.
