- The Alias MX "Free"mix 125cc class is a free two-stroke class offered at all rounds of the Vurb Classic. In Georgia, at Silver Dollar MX, GEICO Honda racer RJ Hampshire brought out his 2007 CR125 to race some of the fastest talent in the south. Watch the entire first moto as RJ battles with the likes of Chase Bell, Challen Tennant, Logan Stokes, Chase Marquier, Jayce Pennington, Ramyller Alves, and many more!

I have to admit the sound of a bunch of 2 strokes racing is pretty great
2 strokes are the best
It's dam beautiful symphony to hear 20+ two strokes ripping especially compared to the modern day 4 strokes. Bring back the 2strokes. And add 20 years of r&d and new technology they will be beasts.

Cr's are slow as hell stock haha. I doubt this thing is even close to stock
they all are slow stock.. mayb bsides the ktm 125.. its most likely a built 144 on race gas with a badass fork and shock setup... not many people race a stock bike
yamaharaptor69 125's are not slow if you know how to ride them. The O'Show smoked the 500 world champ on his factory 125 at the '86 des nations- and this was on a hilly course. That is unless you think David Thorp was slow on a 500? 125's teach throttle control, how to keep the bike in the meat of the powerband and momentum conservation through corners. With a good rider aboard, and because of their light weight and flickability, they can turn laps comparable to much bigger bikes.
Jason M I wasn't downing the 125 I have owned one for many years its just bs that people think a stock cr 125 is slow I know for a fact they not i have raced many bikes to big cc quads on my 96cr.. you are totally right to be honest the 125s should always be around its a stepping stone for kids coming up in racing let alone if Yamaha would put the r&d time in 2 strokes like 4 strokes they would make a come back like no other..lol brother i have pre-mix in my blood... happy riding

Serves em' right. Always been on a honda and ride a 2000 cr250 though I bored it up to a 300 in '03. However a big part of me says fuck Honda knowing they were the cocksuckers responsible for the death of 2 strokes.

125 was my favorite class , I guess I should have been able to bore my XR-75 to 150cc. It's hard to watch some of the changes they made over the years but motocross is still the best sport.

its not sped up. 125's stay at top rpm and these guys are just that fast
guess if you were racing next to these guys Like RJ Hamp. Challen Tenn.. & Chase Bell.. etc you'd get lapped and would reconsider that whole "SPED-UP" notion. fast guys know fast when they see it. slow riders call it "SPED-UP" lol

My rate on you from 0-10 I'm putting you at 9. Your all about 100% speed but your bike control is siting around 80%. When your taking your turns on the outside you let out of the lean early sometimes. You can't do that man, just keep her pinned and low till the jump. I do it all the time it gives you a sick scrub. But hey I have no room to talk compared to you on a rate scale of 0-10 I'm a .5
Riding 125's is all about speed... no hp like a 450. Straight carry speed everywhere or bog down n lose.

Vurbmoto you need to make a video about how fast they really are because all these, well I don't mean to be too rude but, idiots they keep saying its sped up it drives me nuts
They're just slow ass riders that have never heard their clapped out 125's rev that high, let alone go that fast.
It does look sped up but there is no doubt in my mind that this footage is normal speed. I thi k its probably the frame rate that gives everyone that impression.
If you watch it without sound, it looks sped up. If you close your eyes and listen to it, you can tell it's not. It because the video is missing frames. People tend to believe their eyes over their ears.
Also, I read on another video that had this same problem that it's user error when uploading the video. Something about forcing a 30fps video up to 60fps or vice versa.
I know Rj personally n this video is not sped up by any means. This kid is really as fast as the video shows I know your saying is not sped up, but he clearly went pro for a reason. So people are just stupid n need to go see an out doors race not super cross, out doors that’s how you see what racers are really made of.

Like where I like some kids are AMA b riders so they can't bump up to a so they made a b+ class for them to race with a
125 lap times are not bad compared to 450 but they will never get a good start. I've seen a pro rider get a half lap lead on a 125 in a A grade 450 race but he would be much faster on a 450 still. Its not fastforwarded thats how they sound and look on a gopros these guys are just crazy good riders.

Can anyone explain why motocross bikes larger than 250 it seems has switched to 4 stroke engines. It seems 125 and 250 class bikes are still 2 stroke but will they be replaced by 4 strokes. Also how do each compare power and speed wise accelerating thru the gears and towards top end. I understand little or no time at top end is done. Back in my day two cycles ruled because of their quick acceleration and lighter weight.
If a CR 500 were to race comparatively against a 450 four stroke who would take the checker and how else would they compare. It's hard to get use to the sound of the four strokes after years of two stroke ruling motocross. I have ridden the Yamaha MX 500 and can only describe it as a rocket ship on wheels and a leg breaker to crank lol.
