You should definitely show someone Chains of Mephistopheles with the original text (not the Oracle text) in the "is it real" section. And share the flowchart for their reaction once they've made their guesses.

The ability is not every time your creatures get targeted - it's every time this creature get targeted - Nadu just gives that ability to all creatures you control.. Which - does not make it any less absurd.. Perhaps works bit less well with Roaming Throne - might work bit better with Delney.. But it makes the limitation this ability triggers only twice a turn be twice a turn per creature (or per ability) .. which pushes it to absolute sillyness - you need to keep track of how many times it has triggered for each creature separately... Nice...

It's per copy of the effect, per creature. It's even stronger than that. If you can make a nonlegendary copy of Nadu (Spark Double or similar) you can get 8 cards per turn (just from the two Nadu's). If that lets you play another creature or flicker one that's another 4 cards, and so on. It's in the not technically infinite, but good enough, pile.

One important point for Pact of Negation for a Yugioh player to understand as well is I would say is like Red Reboot that is kinda like an omni negate instead of just trap cards. Sure you can play it "fairly" by just using it as a counter when you don't have mana up and then next turn playing the 5 mana for it. But usually Pact of Negation is a free protection to counter your opponent trying to stop you making your game winning play or combo - because if they are dead the turn you play it you never need to pay for the 3UU mana next upkeep.

Reach isn't an intrinsic part of the flying mechanic but a seperate mechanic that functions as a partial exception. Teaching flying first as a core mechanic and leaving reach for when it comes up isn't just a simplification for a new player but actually represents how they function.

Platinum Angel saved me once when I was 100% guaranteed to lose. I was borrowing a friend's deck to play before others arrived to our DnD session to pass the time. I was/am a new player and was told this is a rainbow deck, while my opponent played a mill deck.
As you can imagine, I was mana screwed, until he played a card that made me draw half of my deck. That move put me at 7 assorted mana, just enough to play PA. His next turn, he took me to negative life, and milled the rest of my deck, but I couldn't lose and he didnt have a card to remove a creature from play.
He ended up losing because he drew his entire deck one card at a time until he had no more. So I milled the mill deck lol

Those 3 in tandem create an infinite loop where it dies and is reborn immediately every time it dies. Also, the combo with cards like Stifle or Torpor Orb to stop it being sacrificed, in which case you've gained a 6/6 for 2 that can start triggering when it swings even if the initial discard trigger is countered.

Wanna know the worst part about Nadu? The ability that Nadu grants to each creature you control functions independently for each creature. Specifically, the ability can trigger twice each turn for each creature you control, not just twice total. Which means, if you have 2 creatures, you can trigger this 4 times, if you have 4 creatures, that's 8. And with all the ramping and cards you will draw, those numbers will quickly go beyond just 4 creatures on board.

Haven't played Yugioh in forever but in regards to the singleton format one important thing when building a commander deck is there are so many cards with similar effects in MTG.
So you end up with a lot of different cards but they all mainly accomplish the same goal. In a standard deck you would just find the best for whatever reason and put 4 copies and lose the rest.

Body of Research is pretty bad in commander, but in modern domain decks it's not hard to give it hexproof and trample with scion of draco and haste through various means or just fling it for one more mana.

Angel seems like it is an enchantment that allows you disregard your player health and use a bunch lifelink cards. So just get them down in health and then even when you run out of life you can heal and kill your Angel...If the opponent is also at or near zero they might not want to kill angel to have a chance for a comeback.

Pact of Negation could easily be replaced by Fierce Guardianship for no downsides besides its higher cost as a single, unless you're playing a commander everyone will target. Blue could also plot or foretell a counter spell. I feel like Pact of Negation would be too risky for me.

3:30 i'm new to this channel, and VantaJay as well, but I would have provided more information: 6/6 for 20 life is like 3500/3500 for 8000 LifePoints, similarly a 4-mana card is like a "6-level monster that also require either a discard, or removing a card from the top deck or graveyard, or like 500 life points", which is a bunch but not so much.

Well the thing with Platinum Angel is cause of the tons of crit removals and sweapers in Magic that this card stays around one or two seconds before it is removed. Some opponents don't even care if you play it out on your turn, cause they know they can remove it easily in later turns. Pact of Negation on the other hand I only encounter it in the goblin charbelcher deck build nowadays, or most of the time.

As someone heavily against crossover cards, I feel the need to explain why. I had no issue with them doing joke or crossover cards while they were silver bordered and separate. It was cool to see. But I did have an issue when they brought them in to normal play. MTG isn't just a random card game where the cards just exist. MTG is a 30 year old running story. It has had lore and plotlines and characters built up over longer than many of its players have been alive.
Now you suddenly have characters from fallout or my little pony appearing in a universe that they just don't fit with. It completely devalues the setting and is a clear window into the fact Hasbro is just milking all the money it can out of another franchise before it shrivels up and dies. Imagine if pokemon suddenly had cards with characters from skyrim on them. Or if doctor who was suddenly having canon crossovers with Warhammer 40k. Crossovers are a neat idea... as long as they remain separate from main canon and play.

good video! I would explain why things are good or bad way simplier. Like a huge 60/60 token, you can just block it with a 0/1; pact of negation you can use all the mana in your turn and negate anything that is a meanance. you lose mana in upkeep, but the board was setup last turn.
counters are not about using your mana efficiently/ negate a thing that costs more than your counter card. they just allow you to do your stuff, or make your opponents not do their stuff.

Extremely entertaining video, but a few points that came up while I was watching.
To evaluate the strength of a card in commander can often times be extremely nebulous or unproductive, I think. It’s a casual format where a lot of players will value fun or social interaction over trying to win by any means and there are so many miserably bad cards in magic and most of them have some deck that they become broken in, or at least they get to do something cool. Unless it’s about something like cEDH of course.
And to add on, the *real* crime of Nadu is not ramping and drawing two every turn, which on an already over-rate flying creature is still crazy, but the fact that it triggers off *all* your creatures elevates it to being completely unreasonable. Sticking a good landfall trigger or two on the field can very well go infinite with this and basically makes the “twice per turn” rule at the bottom meaningless. Not to mention it’s a non-deterministic infinite, it’s possible to whiff, making it so that a lot of players just won’t concede in the off chance the chain ends lmao. Either way, an incredibly stupid card.

I find it really hard to give a just ranking to older cards like Percy that was a very good card in one particular archetype back in Extended and standard, but has been completely unplayable for the last 15 years.
Also I really don't like basing ranks on commander, where stats don't matter, everything is about value and abilities, and every card can be playable in the right deck.
