Glulam Structure Pt.2 - Primary beam structure assembly

- A short video of what I've been doing for the last month or so.. I don't have much time for my hobby projects lately so I pieced this video together from clips I took took while working on this structure.. It's far from complete so I'l keep you updated on the progress..

@@lignumchannel Actually during the more interesting parts like preparing the pieces and assembling them the video plays too fast so you can't really see what is happening.

Those are wonderfully organic forms, and so much more pleasing executed in wood. I enjoyed the whole erection process video, but I particularly liked the high-tech pin setting process. Were those boot heels and wood scraps calibrated? :-) Clyde
Ahahaha, Yes, every single one was pressed in with exactly the same amount of force and hammered in with a special, ancient oak tool.. XD Joking aside, I was wondering about whether it's important how snug should the holes be, and how much force should you applyed to press the pins in.. I asked a university professor who made the calculations for the structure and he said that the force should be just enough that they don't fall out until they are lifted in to final horizontal positions, the hole diameter 0.1mm less then the pin diameter, creates enough friction .. Its somewhere on my channel.. :D In first part I was making some smaller glulam beams which will be assembled on the same airport after we're done with this big glulam structure..

:D not even close. Most stressful project yet.. But I'm proud now when it's complete..
