I really enjoy the Dylan album, but some of the informations you give in this video are not correct. The masked musicians on the album cover are actors that pretend to be musicians. The ‚real‘ musicians here are not members of Bob’s touring band (which btw never had any accordeons), but they are Greg Leisz on lead guitar, T-Bone Burnett on acoustic, Don Was on bass and some others. And there are no drums… Besides that: great album selections! Marty Stuart is wonderful… Cheers from Germany

Hi Mazzy, new music day for me too, I picked up a vinyl copy of Roger Waters ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ - not a very enticing album title for 2023 but my god the music is breathtakingly beautiful! You have to hear the new version of Comfortably Numb, it almost feels as though he is realising his original vision for the song. By the way picking up on your comment about Paul Simon’s voice, Waters’ voice is in good shape too (as far as it goes!). Greetings from London.

Onya Mazzy! Thank God you are "aware" and don't spend time "spewing out shit" about which version you have that is "so much better", or which one is mastered by Kevin Gray and is AP, MFSL, Tone Poet or (gees God forbid), an original, or whatever those other VC channels' "Roundtables" seem to be focusing on...
Honestly as a collector of your vintage, as you say, it's about the music -and those guys are really losing grasp on reality and following each other like sheep. Whereas advice on quality of recordings and releases is always welcome. Love your work - Keepin' it real! Cheers from Oz.

Earl Scruggs' grandson Chris Scruggs plays bass and steel in The Fabulous Superlatives. "Cousin" Kenny Vaughan is the secret weapon in this band. The new Dylan release is fabulous. I think Bob Dylan's "Shadow Kingdom" album is wonderful. His voice is different from his earlier days, but I think Bob's voice is very good on this. I could make out just about every lyric. ha! I think it's his best studio album since 2001's "Love And Theft". I'd recommend it to Bob Dylan fans. I think it helps to know the original versions of these songs first. This may give my all time favorite re-recordings album, Taylor Swift's "Fearless (Taylor's Version)", a run for its money. I wonder if "Shadow Kingdom" will get any Grammy nods? By the way, the film is airing on many PBS stations this week.

I think the Shadow Kingdom album works so well as a record partly because you’re not distracted by the oddness of the film. Watching the ‘live’ stream, noticing that Bob and the musicians are clearly miming was too much of a distraction. Without that, you’re left to appreciate the great performances and beautiful recording of the record.
