To keep the case back undamaged, it has to be open by taking off bezel and front plexiglass. Then remove hands and dial to get access to the keyless work, partly disassemble it in order to remove the stem. I am not a watchmaker, but did it for my 3 or 4 similar automatic swatch.
Thanks for this advice! I have had this same problem. I was looking for a solution to this problem when I clicked on this video and was very pleased to find your comment here! Thanks also to VWT!
this seems perfectly serviceable unlike the newer Sistem51 Swatches that have plastic escapement and unremovable stem. surprisingly classy too for a swatch.
I was shocked when I heard about the "Throw-Away" movements they're making, when You have something like THIS that runs for 25yrs straight without service?.. it must just be to make more money, can't service it?.. throw in the bin eventually.. I couldn't buy one tbh.
@@outwoodyapecker thank you for your answer, I don’t know if this is something that anyone can do, so I think I will try to go for the service, although I tried it once but could not find a swatch authorized shop in Caracas. Excellent channel, you never get bored! Thanks
The Back of this Watch is Fantastic, a actual FULL view, just the Plastic You mentioned in the other comment puts me off, real shame that, obviously couldn't make the same part in Crystal/Glass, but if it had a 'non-plastic' back I'd love it!.. I just have terrible luck when it comes to plastic on Watches! is the 'Crystal' on the front Sapphire or something else?.. now I think I could probably live with the 'Plastic' on the Back of the Watch rather than the front.....hmmmmmmm
My swatch irony movement is 28「42」.😉 I don`t understand the difference. I don`t know, maybe someone will say that, if 2824, service it. if 2842, throw it, and get a new one 2824 please. 😅 😉 ps: does it worth to buy a 2824 case set , put 2842 in ? I don`t know. 我舊的 2842,我不太知道該不該 ... 找師傅把機芯拿出來, 買一套 2824 錶殼套件,請師傅裝進去 @@
They are almost identical but internal parts are different. 2824 is 28800 bph but 2842 is 21600 bph. In my opinion, both are nice movements. Recasing sounds a fun project! As far as I know, 2842 doesn't have holes for the dial feet. If you want to use a dial and case for 2824, you will need to cut the dial feet and glue it on the movement.

Definitely. The ETA 2824 movement is an authentic Swiss-made mechanical movement and serviceable. Opening the plastic case back is a challenge though.

I own a 1998 Poisson Rouge that lags behind close to 30 min every 24 hours, do you think it’s possible to fix it?
@@marokeano you could try demagnetizing it, if that doesn't fix it then it probably needs a service.

The front glass is also plastic...
It is a ETA 2842 not ETA 2824. 2842 is based on the 2824 but is a lower quality movement. You can see the ETA 2842 stamp near the Balance at 16:39
I think the 'quality' is similar to the basic grade 2824-2. The difference is that a 2842 doesn't have hack and 21.8 instead of 28.0.
Thank you for good catch. I fixed the title and thumbnail. It was just my typo. I'm sorry.
Some one can tell me where i find a glass replacement ?
