HOW TO BUILD A DUTCH DOOR: with a beginner! What could go wrong?!

  • My goal is to build this Dutch door 100% by myself. This door will be for our treehouse and I know my girls will love having this unique Dutch door. I thought the herringbone pattern would add a unique feature to the door. I have put together a drawing with dimensions and have done quite a bit of research. I am a beginner at using tools, but have a strong vision for what I like and how to build it. I hope this is just the start of what I will be building in the future. I hope you enjoy my 'How to' video with a beginner!
Keep an eye out for our next video of building our treehouse!
    Materials Needed:
    4 x 8 x 1/4" Birch Board (Qty. 1)
    4 x 6 x 1 Pine Boards (Qty. 5)
    1/4 x 1 x 6 Pine Trim (Qty. 3)
Exterior Wood Glue (Qty. 2 - Large Bottles)
    2" Dowel Rods (Qty. 16)
    GOAL:
OK, I am new to TH-cam. I would love to get to 1000 subscribers by June 2022. It would mean the world to me if you subscribed and liked my videos to help me meet my goal. Thanks for watching!

You make it work with a smile always make sure you seal your doors all four sides top and bottom to keep from warping I worked in a lumber yard for 40 years always mentioned to customers.

Yes!! This door is outside on the girls' treehouse, so I put several coats on it. I plan to make a decorative rock guard for our camper soon, so I'll be sure to put several layers of sealant on it. It'll look great, but hope it stays that way!

Dutch! I will be doing this for the first time in the next couple of days, also by myself. I will be using an existing door and transforming it! 🤞🏼

Dutch! I just found this video. Excited to watch. Just a suggestion that I love to do when cutting material, and you may already use this, use a circular saw with your material atop a ridged foam with a guide for straight cuts. Way easier and safer for me.

Nice work. ONLY RAISE YOUR TBLE SAW BLADE TO BE ABOUT 1/4 INCH OVER YOUR CUT!!!!

I think you should loose the gloves when running the table saw , also recommend a push stick

As a woodworker, that scared the crap out of me seeing you free cut on the table saw and wearing gloves.

Be careful with using the table saw. Blade was way to high and you removed the guards. Blade should be barely higher than what you are cutting.

Be careful blade was up to high it could kick backwards

Good advice! I haven't used the saw much since that project, but I do have several projects I'd like to do here soon. I'll keep that in mind for next time😊
