- Governor RN Ravi in his Independence Day speech said that a network of vested interests is behind Nagaland's poor performance on development indicators. His remarks come after the largest rebel group, the NSCN(I-M) demanded his removal from the position of an interlocutor. ThePrint's Angana Chakrabarti and Yimkumla Longkumer report.

Im from Nagaland and i totally agree with Nagaland the worst performing state in the country.
ur seriously ignored by all in country,it has many reasons but has resolve dragging things long doesn't fits good,INDIA is working only on the Hindi main land .I belong to south we seem to be ignored but okay to the rest of the parts.

@@vikhyath2037 the reason for the underdevelopment of the north east region is the unrest created by the militants and corrupt state govt. Dozens of militant groups are operating in the region demanding a separate country or state by killing Civilians and Security personals and spreading violence. They don't even allow Basic construction activities in the region especially in manipur and Nagaland. They also collect separate tax from the Civilians. The State govt fill their own pockets with govt sanctioned funds. Drug trafficking is at its heights in this region and are also supported by the local govt and militants...
brother but I agree the people of North East India has the right to rebel against Delhi coz politicians sitting in Delhi are sleeping and only wakes up from the sound of guns! I am from Rajasthan and nearby Chambal region is full of late Paan Singh Tomar led rebels whom foolish elite intellectuals call them "gundas" coz they fight against netas and babus.

They are killing both Civilians and Security Personnels. They are doing extortions, kidnapping, threaten and scare people who don't pay taxes, don't even spare tourists. Recently 3 AR soldiers will killed in a bomb blast in Manipur just for patrolling. Man are you crazy or what??? They are killing our own men!!!! The rebel groups do extort money from their citizens. It is very true and to know the real reality of these rebel groups , you should question the business people. The dark secrets are known to them.
In addition, they even make phone calls to extort money. The typical extortion business which you see in Bollywood movies is partially a right image to describe their Extortion business.
Apparently, because of the pandemic and the ongoing peace talks, the Extortion has limited. You need to study Nagaland's political turmoil to realize the rationality behind the governor's statement.
The government is the biggest mafia who extorts money in the names "taxes", but a legalised mafia!

When you are involved in extortions and send out untrained illiterate "soldiers" with a gun to collect illegal tax not only Ravi but everyone will call you a gangster, he's just stating facts. It's a shame how the fighters have lost public support because of their leaders mismanagement and love for money. Started struggle with a good cause, fought hard and endured just to fall for money.

Nagaland has received 1632.05 cr as post devolution deficit grant for this year. They also released about 32 crores on june. Now its upto your state govt that how they utilize it. Tons of medical equipments were supplied to your state in this pandemic. Recently they have sanctioned many highway projects for the state. Your horn bill festival is funded by Them to show your culture to the world. Even many artists from your state are sent to abroad to spread there rich naga cultural music and dance. But what can I expect more from an illiterate brainwashed IM supporter who only knows how to blame the govt by putting completely false claims. What your organization has done for the state? Torture civilians for paying tax, extortion, theft, drug trafficking and many more good things according to you🤔🤔
Since time immemorial, we the Nagas were never part of India. We gained Independence way before India got Independence. Our culture, history, language , skin colour, cuisine are totally different from the rest of India.
I am paying tax to NSCN IM and other Naga national group and i will continue to do so.

What Gov has mentioned is purely right however it shouldn't be blend with the vexed Naga political talks. All concerned groups,CSOs,NGOs,state government under auspice of Modi government has to generate a consensus to resolve the issue in the interest of Naga people & the nation 🇮🇳 .

You're all asking the wrong question. It aint about "why do the people support these rebel factions despite the unrest they caused? or why would they want their own flag and constitution?", the real question is "What moved them even after more than half a century of law and peace to still want to break off with a stern support from the people?" I have very good mainland friends, I do, but you know it and I know it, that mainlanders have always been making distinctions with bigotry and inequity towards their yellow skin-tiny eyed fellow Indians.
Solution is to be inclusive not to be exclusive

Boros woke up like a Johnny-never-late in the 90s and all they get is a district, the Manipuris didnt wanted to be tribals, and now they're shouting on their rooftops after they've been overrun by the mainlanders, going underground, fortunately they're were granted the ILP on the passing of the CAA, good for them.

Kashmir and Nagaland are totally different. Yes, more than half of the Kashmiri population wants independence but this is not the case in Nagaland. Even this group NSCN IM is not demanding a separate country but a separate flag and constitution. They also don't have major public support since they loot and extort there own people in the name of tax. I have many Naga friends and they have told me everything about their state. Nagaland is not Kashmir. Get your facts check and than comment. Don't be a dumb bigot...
