Heavy became Addicted to the Powertrip that the Beam gives, to the point of intentionally hurting himself to feel invicinble.
Convicing the doctor to expermiment more on him if he helps him with do that.
Herbert Medic Agrees, inspite of a small bit of his humanity having enough compassion to care for his giant experiment's health.
Espically since he doesn't seem to care about what counts as an enemy.
