This isn't even the first time they tried a reimagining of the park's front area that got radically scaled back.
I’ve been seeing a lot of complaints specifically how Indiana jones and encanto play into the idea of animals. And it’s so easy, Antonio’s gift is literally talking to animals. The storyline could be something like the animals have taken over the house and the family needs your help to get them in order. Additionally, Indiana jones is all about searching for something, why can’t it be an endangered species? I think that could work perfectly with the animal kingdom idea.
For Encanto, it could even just be a tour of Antonio's room. The ride queue takes us through the house, which would be cool to see, but then the ride could start by going through Antonio's door and having some adventure there
I thought Indiana Jones was about going to temples to find ancient religious/magical/alien-like inanimate objects? I don't see how they can work an endangered species angle into that, but I guess they can give it a shot.

Also, do you think any EPCOT projects that got budget cut due to COVID might resurface anytime soon? I'm talking the Mary Poppins ride and the Spaceship Earth refurbishment mainly. But everyone has seem to have forgotten that a new China film was also announced lol. Not to mention rumors way back in 2018/2019 that a new country was set to be built at the World Showcase.
I’m super excited about the possibility of an Avatar expansion. If I were to design it, I’d probably make the ride vehicle the cockpit of one of those crab robots. That way, they could move it through a real set, such as the wreckage of the Matador boat from the 2nd movie, and also move it into smaller projection rooms to do open water sequences. It’d go something like this: you’re tasked with retrieving something valuable from the wreckage, and along the way, you see how the corals and plants have taken over the manmade architecture and made it beautiful.
This is like an artist wanting to make a new painting, already having access to a bunch of blank canvases & painting materials but instead, the artist decides to paint over an already existing painting. If Disney wants a "Tropical Americas" section in Animal Kingdom, then they should use the free area(s) of land (like the one they're using for this construction project) they already have access to. Destroying Dinoland is not the answer & I REALLY hope something happens to prevent it from happening. If they want to improve Dinoland, then they should consider -Updating Dinosaur with a new pre-show & new animatronics -Give Restaurant-osaurus a new Menu -Construct more Animal Enclosures with creatures that are considered "Living Fossils" (Horse Crabs, Nautilus, Giant Salamanders, Crocodilians, Seriemas, Magpie Geese, etc.) -Have Interactive Dinosaur Encounters (Baby Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, Lucky, Aladar, etc.) -Have a Good Dinosaur Musical in the Theater in the Wild -Construct a Excavator Roller Coaster in or near The Boneyard area -Construct A Water/Log Flume Attraction based on the Ice Age franchise in place of Dino-Rama.
I'm calling it now...they are giving AK a new Nightime Spetacular along with the other stuff. I would even guess that it will appear in 2025 because the ampetheater and controll room is already built and ready for a new show. Edit,...as I played your video, I see that YOU called it too! Haha.
Yep… and I would put money on drones being used to give the show a unique selling point. EPCOT’s show is good, HEA and Fantasmic are always drawing guests, so DAK needs the drones.
@@DSNYNewscast - If they find a way to bring Joe Rhode back. Oh my God....THAT would be the very BEST thing that Disney has been able to accomplish in 2 years! Jack!,...woah!...wait! Joe Rhode demands "no animals with pants" in his park. Will Joe Rhode say: "No Zootopia in MY Tree of Life!"???
I know nothing about drones but I read others' speculations on its whining noise possibly disturbing animals. If that's a no -go then at least bring back Rivers of Light. Not enough people stay til closing because of underwhelming nighttime draws!
If Disney is going to build a Encanto ride please make a quality attraction similar to what we have seen in the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast ride in Tokyo Disneyland and the Mystic Manor ride in Hong Kong Disneyland. We all have seen what Disney Imagineering can come up with dark rides when given a sizeable budget like Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle For the Sunken Treasure ride in Shanghai Disneyland. I would love to see Disney investing in doing decent trackless that would become "timeless" and not "dated" within 5 years; a dark ride with amazing animatronic characters and screens like Hong Kong Disneyland's Mystic Manor, Symbolica which is another excellent trackless non - Disney dark ride at Efteling theme park in the Netherlands and Tokyo Disneyland's Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. How about for the Encanto ride you go through Casa Madrigal and explore the rooms of each family members, and you choose a button on one of the different magic doors and explore the worlds of Antonio, Isabela and Luisa.
Love the drone idea; caught glimpse of a drone show in Harleysville during a carnival. Few drones made 2D zoom-up images. Now that more have been created, they form 3D full-view images! Some already took the form of the cute star character from Wish. What if they grew more enjoyable than parade floats and fireworks? They are nowhere near as fantastic as the animated scene projections on the building material frames like the castle mostly.
@@ethanshackleton the movie is about prey and prejudice and our daily struggles rather than man’s relationship with animals. As a matter of a fact, Joe Rhode doesn’t want Zootopia in the park either
Also, I sort of want Animal Kingdom to remain a park that showcases the beauty of nature. If they built a city like they did in Shanghai, It might clash with the rest of the land.
Zootopia fits within the theme of animals past present and fantasy. Anthropomorphic animals are fantasy. They could easily retheme the Dinosaur ride with the current Shanghai ride. MGM/DHS on the other hand, would be a perfect place for an Indiana Jones themed land, as they could build beyond the current Stunt Show, utilizing the current parking lot, and even the Jedi Academy space. They could build either the Tokyo or Anaheim version of the track ride, and clone Temple of Peril in Paris. Or something completely unique entirely.
@@timothybernardi68I'm sure they can find some way to circumvent that and keep it from aggravating guests or animals, maybe make it far away and modify them to be quieter?
@@cadendicky1855 If so, they'd be the first. That's always been a complaint by producers about drone shows. You have so many props in the air the sound becomes distracting.
One thing i find fascinating about the possibility of recreating the encanto house is the possibility of using projection mapping to being the house alive at night. If done correctly every night when the sun goes down without much announcement they can do a show that makes the house come to life. Using projection mapping to make it look like the tiles are moving, windows rattling and other cool effects that would entertain and delight guests
Lions are mighty carnivorous felines and the symbol of classic royalty. All three Lion King films have become a complete collection bundle and the first one is bonded with its photorealistic computer-animated adaptation.
I would LOVE to see a Lion King ride! My husband was watching this with me, and he thinks a set up similar to Flight of Passage would be cool! You’d follow Zazu around as he gives you a tour of the Pridelands, and you’d run into hyenas, a stampede, bugs being chased by Timon and Pumbaa, and so on! I love this idea so much that I had to share it!
Hey Jack, great video! I actually was walking right behind you at the Connections Eatery back in January. I started to say hi but you were with someone and I didn’t want to disturb you. I would recognize that voice anywhere! 😂 love what you do!
All I want is for Hollywood studios to build an avengers campus. Hopefully they can resolve the contract they have with Universal by letting them keep the Simpsons ride.
Instead of mythical Creatures (as both Everest and Avatar cover that) I wonder if Indy will continue to involve Dinosaurs in some way? Having Dinosaurs in ancient temples is a relatively common trope (see Tomb Raider). The park needs something based on extinct animals to cover the "real, extinct and imaginary" cores.
I'd love for Disney to focus on NON IP attractions. If they were to come up with some original stories and/or characters that would be incredible. When was the last time Imagineering actually came up with something themselves instead of using an IP to build upon? Not a dig at them, I'd just love to see something original🙂
I've seen Coco floated as another idea for this area, but that movie doesn't take place in a tropical part of Mexico so I'd rather they keep it for beyond BTMRR.
If an attraction themed like The Lion King is coming to the Disney Parks; it's the 30th anniversary of the Disney Renaissance film released in 1994; my birthyear, it ought to have everything from the film along with everything from its sequel and side-story prequel.
I love the idea of a drone show in Animal Kingdom; especially since they are limited to what they can do in nighttime entertainment. Also, with test track, I was thinking that too with the track area being enclosed.
I’m hoping to hear a lot of big news from D23 in August as the last couple of years have been nothing but blue sky ideas. I would love an official announcement of a nighttime parade coming back to Magic Kingdom and I would also love to hear about the expansion on Animal Kingdom specifically official announcements on E ticket rides in addition to a drone or nighttime show coming back. We need to make this an all day park again. I’m also looking forward to hearing about lightning lane and Genie changes. Those of us that have grown up with Disney parks really miss all of the old offerings and the Disney Magic that we had prior to Covid. I would love to see some of that come back with, eliminating Park reservations and opening up both water park simultaneously and having the parks stay open late like it did before.
You were being quite generous with the 30 - 45 min average wait time for Dinosaur. That ride is a averaging mid/lower mid 20s for the last 4 years. I've personally never seen it over 30 min, but I never go on holidays. Indy will be a massive capacity boost for that ride. And yeah, Encanto would probably double to triple the demand vs a glorified county fair coaster and flat spinner.
Indy fits because the park is shifting from “animals” to “adventure.” Wouldn’t surprise me if the name is eventually changed to “Disney’s Adventure Kingdom.”
If the drones continue upgrading show fame and performances, the people dressed as the characters can be swapped with artificial intelligent animatronics; WALL-E, R2-D2, BB-8, Groot and Kevin already beat them there.
I miss the Rivers of Light since the live action movie of The Jungle Book themed, before the regular Rivers of Light and before the pandemic. So, I vote for the drones for the legacy of the Rivers of Light.
I'm excited to the D23 in Brazil, in november. I'm a huge Disney fan and I hope they bring one of the ships of their Cruise Line... this is my dream!!! Have you heard anything about this version of D23 here?
Maybe, Jack, you could dress as Mickey for the Expo and Halloween. I won't be any Disney character when I work in the parks. I'll be U.D.E., the Ultimate Disney Entertainer. I will make comedic acts, give facts, stage quizzes and offer a historical tour.
A few things: 1) Galaxy's Edge really landlocked DHS. The expansion section you showed is tiny for a park that only has 10 rides. Their only other possibility is demolishing the Indy show and the Backlot Café for more land but they desperately need stuff to do in that park. Toy Story land style rides with some indoor and outdoor stuff; maybe a Toontown but a very large one. And add the 3rd ride to Galaxy's Edge. 2) I think rounding out World Showcase by adding a ride to every pavilion makes a lot of sense. They don't have to be huge rides like they just added to France but, again, more stuff to do around the world while waiting for the night time spectacular. Also, please fix Journey Into Imagination. Disney continues to push Figment as the main character of Epcot yet his ride is crap. 3) PLEASE let the Main Street Electrical Parade rest in peace. It has nostalgia but, when viewed, really shows its age. Spectromagic was far superior. Design a brand new parade for MK.
Animal kingdom already had a water show and they have the infrastructure for it. The waterway near the nemo show even has seating built into the edges of the lagoon.
With Indiana Jones going to Animal Kingdom the Indy corner of the Studios could change substantially. My guess, look for Zootopia going into the Studios.
@@UmmYeahOk that’s dead. Indy is going to Animal Kingdom 100%. Zootopia is going into the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom so if they want to build out a full Zootopia land like in Shanghai it will need to be in one of the other parks. The only one that makes sense is Hollywood Studios.
I feel like Zootopia definitely fits better in Studios purely for it's main setting being a city. Studios is more of a city/built up feel with more buildings and a city skyline wouldn't look out of place there. Definitely feel like Indy works better in Animal Kingdom with a lot of it set in temples in the middle of dense jungle which fits better with the greenery and nature in Animal Kingdom.
There was no mention of needing the Imagineering/construction trailers at Animal Kingdom for the conversion of It's Tough to be a Bug to Zootopia in the Tree of Life.
I'd love to see the reptile exhibit over by Indiana Jones too, I think it is a great fit. I would like to see a Mary Poppins ride get done in EPCOT UK's Pavilion but not tea cups. She flies so something more related to that. If they want it for kids then something similar to Peter Pan with umbrellas instead of ships, would be great.
The drones forming shapes to put on a show so magical and colorful for every fanatic could even work for the government, the press, the conventions and the holidays. Different than the drones which formed the allusions of the elemental titans in Spider-Man: Far From Home when Peter Parker/Spider-Man brought them down, let them murder Quentin Beck/Mysterio and saved Michelle Jones.
I also would not be surprised if we hear Bob Iger repeat these same exact words for Lion King, "We building two, One Disneyland Paris in Paris, France, and the other at Animal Kingdom".
What great insightful thoughts, yet again, Jack! My dream for Animal Kingdom is to represent all continents appropriately where possible. I'm more on board with something South American (linking in Indy Jones) for the Dinoland overhaul, but I really am sad to see Dinosaurs go extinct.... again.... A Lion King attraction just feels uncanny and needed, too. I would love to see Animal Kingdom revamp over the next 15 years so that Australia gets represented (could work as an Oceania section, with Moana as well), and revamping the train to take you through a North American & European rail into the arctic (giant indoor structure).... but I would not bring Polar bears since they don't really work well in habitats, especially in Florida, I'd focus on critters and stories from mythology and inuit cultures as well as other animals around the arctic. I've unfortunately given up on EPCOT being EPCOT and resolved to it just being some hodgepodge IPcot area of working projects and fillers. But an indoor section also allows for Disney to add space behind Test Track for infrastructure or other "ugly" looking things in that turnaround area that isn't really pretty anyways. West Coast Cruiseline.... I actually really like this idea for expansion. There's beautiful options from the Canada-Alaska options, Hawaii, and down along Baja Mexico to Chile and South America! However, I think the better option for Disney as they've always had their eyes on it, is Long Beach and not San Diego (though San Diego would be a good extra point of interest). Long Beach is very close to Disneyland, and it was once sought as the Westcot option for a Disney expansion. That area is already a tourist trap with the Queen Mary, Aquarium, and awesome shopping and racing things. So I could see Disney expanding a port in the vicinity very easy, with a shuttle to the Disneyland resort!
My characters, Andrew, Joshua, Quarto and Toshiba; all African, were created from royal lion DNA and another of my characters is a descendant of Black Panther. Also if a Lion King world attraction is coming to the Disney Parks, the worlds of Tarzan and The Jungle Book can be next, and so can Wakanda from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It would be cool if test track had both indoor and outdoor sections so it could run during the rain but also still let you go outside when the weather is nice. I think that would be cool assuming it wouldn’t take forever to switch tracks
From what I understand, the layout for Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom and the layout for Indiana Jones at Disneyland are identical. The only thing that is different is the theming around it.
The location and size of the Imagineering satellite office is interesting because a logical place for a fifth gate is across Western Way north of Animal Kingdom.
Both the first two Avatar films will be bundled together soon, even though Avatar: The Seed Bearer is in the works and about to be released; James Cameron who directed the Avatar series is also gonna be knighted a Disney Legend! The product I thought up, Land Paste, it can make the Earth-like moon, Pandora, where the Avatar films take place a reality! It will even cameo in Time Shift. The language of the Na'vi from the films is very mythical like Elvish, Orcic, Parseltongue and Minionese.
I'd love to have DCL ships dedicated to Hawaii/California, not just one way. It'd be perfect to team up with the Aulani resort. If they did that, I think the name of the ship should be The Ohana.
I'll definitely miss Dinoland, but honestly, it kinda became outdated over the years, except maybe for the Dinosaur ride. I'll definitely be looking foward to a Encanto and Indiana Jones ride though! Along with that, we'll also probably have plenty of South American animals to see.
I feel like Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are the two theme parks that need these expansions the most. I was just at both parks a few days ago, did not get in the park right at the opening, and finished every single ride at around 6:00 pm with about 3 hours to spare. I would hope that at least both theme parks get two more E-Ticket Attractions before the end of the decade.
Agreed, and that would mean a nighttime show/spectacular for Animal Kingdom would make sense too if people are staying in the park for longer. I really loved Animal Kingdom at night when they had Rivers of Light on. The ambience of the whole park changes and is so magical at night.
Kind if makes more sense that they woudl build a port in Long Beach or San Pedro where there are already cruise ship ports. It would allow them to do packages with cruise and theme park combos. Anaheim is not that far from San Diego and shuttles could easily be used to take cruise guests to the Disneyland Resort
Ok so my problem with the new pandora expansion with the shanghai pirates vehicles is that navi river journey is right next door. This would mean that there would be two water rides right next to each other.
True, but Navi River Journey is basically a fancy It's a Small World, and the Shanghai ride has a little more action. I believe the Shanghai pirates has scenes that make you believe you're underwater. If they do more Avatar 2 theming and focus on the ocean, I could see it being different enough from River Journey to both still work in the same space, like how Pirates and Splash Mountain are next to each other but very different water rides.
They should spend all the money on a lion, King premium experience in Animal Kingdom… It will surely keep the numbers up at Animal Kingdom especially if there’s a space for guests to really sit and spend time in the newly formed land.
Also on Disney Cruise Line - cruise ships are built to last 20-30 and the Magic and Wonder are currently at 25 years. DCL will need to replace them as they are phased out.
Thanks for the DCL insight, Jack. I was wondering when they were announcing the Destiny as I expected that announcement at D23. D23 this year will certainly be interesting.
I’m sorry. But if they’re doing a Central America South America theme for animal kingdom the dinosaur should be themed to Emperors New Groove. It actually has animals. It can be a race through the mountains and then into yzmas lab. And then you save kuzco and maybe turn into an animal yourself. It’s gold.
The problem I have with the AK expansion is that the park is not about “animals” like Zootopia, but about “conservation.” This is why Pandora works, while Indiana Jones and Encanto most likely will not.
Hahaha - Today, playing the part of Lucy Van Pelt will be the DIsney Corporation and kicking the football that Lucy will inevitably pull away prior to impact will be Jack from DSNY Newscast....

Indy has been done in a South America version style for a long time in Tokyo DisneySea.
If they want to improve Dinoland, then they should consider
-Updating Dinosaur with a new pre-show & new animatronics
-Give Restaurant-osaurus a new Menu
-Construct more Animal Enclosures with creatures that are considered "Living Fossils" (Horse Crabs, Nautilus, Giant Salamanders, Crocodilians, Seriemas, Magpie Geese, etc.)
-Have Interactive Dinosaur Encounters (Baby Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, Lucky, Aladar, etc.)
-Have a Good Dinosaur Musical in the Theater in the Wild
-Construct a Excavator Roller Coaster in or near The Boneyard area
-Construct A Water/Log Flume Attraction based on the Ice Age franchise in place of Dino-Rama.
Awesome idea
Such a thorough deep dive and it's giving me so much to think about!
Also with Joe Rhode coming back in, even with a teaching position, I'm thinking that better things are on the way.
As long as we don’t have Zootopia at Animal Kingdom but at Hollywood Studios, we’re golden.
How does it make any more sense in Hollywood studios than Animal Kingdom?
@@ethanshackleton the movie is about prey and prejudice and our daily struggles rather than man’s relationship with animals. As a matter of a fact, Joe Rhode doesn’t want Zootopia in the park either
Also, I sort of want Animal Kingdom to remain a park that showcases the beauty of nature. If they built a city like they did in Shanghai, It might clash with the rest of the land.
@@hamstermoth9174 I agree.
The Indiana Jones replacement of Dinosaur, the Encanto and Coco expansion and the Villains' Kingdom are brilliant for the parks too.
These drones can be a great way to bring back rivers of light.
In a single word, the problem with drone shows: "Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"
I believe a new cruise terminal is more likely for Vancouver since Disney usually doesn’t register their ships in the US
All I want is for Hollywood studios to build an avengers campus. Hopefully they can resolve the contract they have with Universal by letting them keep the Simpsons ride.
I always thought the idea of a B&M wing in the pandora expansion plot would be awesome.
WDW also needs a nighttime parade
Yes, please! And something new, not MEP again
Fantastic show today Jack. The future is looking bright. Excellent news and insights as always. What an exciting time to be a Waltineer!
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride trackless ride is the way to go!!!🐸👍🏽
I'd love for Disney to focus on NON IP attractions. If they were to come up with some original stories and/or characters that would be incredible. When was the last time Imagineering actually came up with something themselves instead of using an IP to build upon?
Not a dig at them, I'd just love to see something original🙂
Love your content it’s very magical!!!! I plan to visit Disney World Florida 1-2 times per year
I've seen Coco floated as another idea for this area, but that movie doesn't take place in a tropical part of Mexico so I'd rather they keep it for beyond BTMRR.
It's an unusually large site for offices. A multi phase plan is very possible.
I AM LIKE SO UPSET STILL THAT THEY ARE REVAMPING MY #1 FAVORITE RIDE TEST TRACK!
Love this format Jack!
I think they desperately need another rollercoaster at Animal Kingdom.
I miss the Rivers of Light since the live action movie of The Jungle Book themed, before the regular Rivers of Light and before the pandemic. So, I vote for the drones for the legacy of the Rivers of Light.
Your video is so cool. I also went to Disney World two weeks ago and posted a video on TH-cam. I'm happy to watch the video again.😊
Wouldn’t it make more sense for Zootopia to be at Animal Kingdom, and Indiana Jones to be at MGM/DHS?
In my opinion, I would rather have Indiana Jones be in Hollywood studios, and a Zootopia world in Animal Kingdom.
The new floor system that moves you without walking could also be used for Encanto
I’m sailing on the Disney Wonder in Mexico watching this video before going to bed. Really hope you’re correct about expanding DCL on the West Coast!
I’m super excited for the future of Animal Kingdom, not even joking I would love to see KiteTails return, I thought it was such a fun wacky show.
Great video thanks jack! Like the new format too😊
I hope Disney reinstate their plans for the Mary poppins attract at Epcot
Boy, we need again King Triton's Carousel of the Sea at Disneyland's and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom's Fantasylands!!! 🎠
This is crazy. Closing an original ride like dinosaur for a copy of an attraction that exists in two parks.
For those that have never been to the other parks and/or not capable of going to the other parks then this would be new and original to them.
I’m not a Disney fanatic but I really love watching your videos they are always so fun and informative ❤️
I like the idea of a drone show at disney. That would be awesome. Also awesome to see ideas and possible expansion to Hollywood Studios.
I'm hoping there will be an announcement on a MAJOR refurbishment for Journey Into Imagination & the return of the Dreamfinder!
Great video. Thank you
I'd love to have DCL ships dedicated to Hawaii/California, not just one way.
To add to what the other commenter said, rivers also run into oceans so it would make sense in that way too.
Well, here's hoping it isn't about churros. Good video Jack
I Head to California for D23 Expo in August 2024?!
Disney Dan put this idea in my head and I want it so bad: Reskin of Rock N’ Roller Coaster to A Goofy Movie (POWERLINE concert).
I'd like to see the Encanto attraction be of the same ride system and look and feel of Mystic Manor.
Agreed
Thank God they are putting some semblance of World of Motion back.
Hahaha - Today, playing the part of Lucy Van Pelt will be the DIsney Corporation and kicking the football that Lucy will inevitably pull away prior to impact will be Jack from DSNY Newscast....
I’d like to see Disney offer deeper discounts for the rest of us. If I can afford to stay at The Grand Floridian hotel, I probably don’t need free food or bigger discounts!
