I've put 10k shots through mine. Love this thing. Took the stock off, tightened up the fit with some layers of gorilla tape as needed. Changed out the trigger spring with one from a ballpoint pen. Was a 3 or 4 lb pull, it's a hair trigger now. Have fun!
Good review. I have had one for about a year now. found it in a pawn shop for fifty dollars, and after deep cleaning, adding an inexpensive rimfire scopes and dialing in, is remarkable accurate. Where I live, cannot shoot firearms within city limits but I can shoot this air rifle in my yard, and so plinking at squirrels and crows is hella fun!
Late to the party here, but so glad that I found this video! While it’s true that quite a few budget break-barrels these days are pretty sub-par, the Ruger performs very well- but ONLY if you mount it with a good scope. In my case, a buddy of mine brought his MTC Copperhead over one day and we dialed it in on my Max Elite. After 40+ rounds, we determined that the groupings could consistently bag squirrel or rabbit at 30 yards (that was our testing distance from blind to feeder). Decent little gun for the price!
Mine is extremely precise and accurate. I have collected wild game and target at competition utilizing this air riffle. No doubt umarex and rugger in conjunction created this Riffle. Excellent 👌🏼
Bought the same air rifle but with the scope package a few years ago and it works well for my uses. I can get about a sub 2 inch group at 35 yards with the right ammo, and that's good enough to get rid of the starlings at my feeders. silhouette target with 7/10 shots. The only issue I've had is the lug forearm becomes loose and the barrel/action moves back and forth about 1/8 inch after about 100 shots, so I'm having to retighten the lug every 100 shots or so and recheck zero. Overall, I'm happy I bought it and it's served me well.
Great looking stock! Like you, I'd be worried about the plastic rail. There have been lots of issues on the Ruger Blackhawk Elite II of that rail breaking etc.
I have a challenge for you with the Ruger max elite 22. See if you can hit a pellet CAN at 70 yards with a Wally World cheap 3x9 scope for 39 bucks. 😅.more than once.. When you know you hit it, it makes a loud popping sound. Or use the Ruger airhawk elite 2, 177 cal. I have them both.
A lot of people down play this rifle. You're right though. It is a good hunting gun or for pest control. At least for me. I use Blue lock tight on my scope and the two screws in front, and it seems to hold up pretty good 👍 for a Wally World rifle.
I have hit soda cans with both at 80 yards and the 22 still has enough energy to pass through the 177 does too but not as powerful at that point. I can do it over and over with the impact max though with a few types of pellets. I would not try to hunt with it past like 40 yards but fortunately I have never had any problems with it and I’ve had mine for years and put thousands of pellets through it. Just cleaned the barrel for the first time today 😂
I am really not a fan of the plastic rail either but I kinda do like the fact that it looks like a Ruger if the sun is going down and you squint a bit! Hha
Where can I get those pellets. I plan on getting one. I am doing research on ut before I get it seems like it's a really good pellet gun. Probably gonna get one
In case the catch slips from the trigger to piston inside the gun. It will cause the rifle to slam shut. Most new rifles have mechanism called an anti bear trap that prevents it. But it’s still a good habit.
Is the comb low enough to get your eye down to the sights easily? I tried a Benjamin Durango 22 and returned it because the comb was too high, making the sights completely unusable for me.
I got one I put a scope on it 4 1/2 x 27 x 50 I can’t set the scope. I talked to a gunsmith in my hometown. He told me that the plastic railing you will never get it sided in I wasted my money
I've been seeing it at the local Wallyworld. Shy'd away from it after getting the Crossman Shockwave, plus it's a few $$$ more! That one seems way more accurate though!
It took a while to get this one to shoot and it's not quite there either. I wish Crosman would go back to more traditional rifles. It's hard for me to get into anything their making right now.
Got a little bit older air hawk.177 shoots spot on for first 3 shots after that it starts going all over the place target ends up looking like it was hit with a shotgun, very big disappointment
@@ohshoot444 it’s a mystery, the seal looks perfect but still could be the problem, sounds like a good excuse to get me wchronograph to measure and see if it’s losing fps
What about the crown? I had another older Ruger that was like that. Ended up cutting like 4" off the barrel before it'd group. I just put it in the trash lol.
@@ohshoot444 first 3 or shots shoots really good groups then it’s straight down hill if you keep shooting, kinda thinking it’s due to the barrel heating up it does it every time it’s got little over a tin run through it it should be broken in , cleaned barrel doesn’t help anything it’s a very strong shooter just a almost lemon 😂 anyways I got a b3 coming in a couple days interested in how a fixed barrel will perform
I bought one of those at Wal-mart above five years ago and it's very similar to the one you have but without the plastic rail on top. It's called Impact Max, that's it, not elite or whatever. Anyway, it's a pretty decent rifle, very accurate for sure, but the barrel does need to be cleaned, and mount a good air rifle scope on it, then it's quite good and plenty of power. The only thing I don't like is the very small stock, you can't get a good cheek rest on it when a scope is mounted, stock is just too small/short in height. I kind of quit using that rifle since I got the Daisy 822 and installed the hop up parts from the 1977XS (brings it up to 700fps).
My two cents??? I was impressed. Of course I have no experience with break barrel pellet guns. And havent gone out with it yet, but that first cock was damn!,…….. then that first trigger pull, was dayummmm !!!
I just got a Gamo uh, Hunter Extreme Pro I think? About $250 on sale and DEFINITELY worth it. Nice, big beechwood stock, metal rail that's made for high powered gas pistons (I think it slides or something, I don't know, don't have a scope), nice adjustable open sights... It's also kind of heavy, and add to that it popping 14-15 grain pellets at a solid 1100 fps. It honestly feels like shooting a proper rifle. In fact, I've shot some .22s that felt more like a bb gun than this thing. All that to say, if I was going to spend any more, I'd definitely just buy a .22 or something. Getting up into that $500 pcp range is ridiculous unless you live somewhere that doesn't allow proper firearms.
There should be no plastic on any gun. I have a couple with the same sights and they wouldn’t hold up to the abuse we used to put on them back in the day. Still have a Benjamin and a Sheridan
One of the worst triggers I have ever pulled. It runs all over the map with several different pellet brands. So far it's horrible. Not what I would expect from Umarex or Ruger.
I just bought one and it not worth what you have to pay for it I can't hit anything with it I will never buy anything else but a gamo 100 times better .
oh shoot whats your email the umerax emerge is shooting really bad groups at only 20 yards and i want to send you a picture of the groups and do you know why it could be doing that?
@@eddiecahall3824 yea i stay away from the break barrel i love pcps alot more but i wanted to give it to my brother and i just could not get it to preform well at all
Great job Travis! Always good to see you out shooting and thanks for taking us along!
i really love the wood stocks on air rifles gives them some nice character

Looks like a nice handy rifle.
Thanks Gary. Hope you're doing good man!
I'm planning to get one myself.
Man that thing is a machine gun!
Almost as accurate as one in my hands
New subscriber…. Really enjoying the channel! 💯
Awesome, thank you!
Looks nice. Don't really like the scope rail but overall good and good shooting.
Thanks Chuck!
Great video. Looking for a decent budget friendly air rifle for squirrel and bird hunting with a good iron sight. Would you recommend for a beginner?
Yes. It’s about the best option unless you want to spend a few hundred.

I think you can get them from Amazon. Also the RWS domed pellets did pretty good. They’re all different though unfortunately.
Love it
Looks good Like it 👍
Why do they say to make sure to hold on to the barrel while you’re loading a pellet?

This one is pretty comfy and I’ve got a big head.
Dang good group if u ask me
Does anyone know of a video that shows how to put the trigger assembly on a 1.77 ruger Blackhawk back together in other words reassemble it
OOF that's a frustrating one. Let me know if you find one. I'll make a community post for ya.

Try a lighter fixed power scope.

@ohshoot444 I think the future is definitely going to be PCP, however I'm still having the most fun with the R1 followed by the Legacy!
@chrislang5659 I think I probably shoot my old b3 and pumpers more than anything. I definitely hunt more with pumpers.

Desieling this Gun with Vaseline turns this gun into a beast hitting well over 1,000 FPS !
Why is it advertised at 1050fps ?
They shoot really light pellets through there to claim higher power. But most manufacturers are a little full of it.
That's strange my box says it's made in the United States maybe you got a model before they changed over from China
Looks decent! 🤘🤘

Use iron sights and adjust them 40yrd easy hits
Is it CO2?
No
This is about as much as I would spend on an air rifle guys spend 500+ on some and for me at that point it’s like just buy a real gun

mine is extremly accurate I can 5 inches long can from 20 yards and a small circle target from 80 yards
So is mine! I have collected doves any type of game and target with extreme accuracy and precision using this Ruger air riffle
