      Same here,
      I’ve been playing for years but you always open a new way of approaching something .
      I agree chords are everything , I play piano to , Bill Evans really he,pd me understand upper structures,
      That’s really starting to sound like Bill, blue in green territory

    This is great Anthony! Hearing and going through these harmonies from a bassist perspective, including going slower than say, the Open Studio guys, is very helpful. I hope you continue this harmony exploration set.

    I just bought your ebook a few days ago, so I'm so glad you posted this video!
    I was beginning to feel that just learning the inversions of triads was too much, but this video showed me the effect of harmony on melody.
    This made me want to learn more. Thanks Anthony.

    fantastic clip!
    the numerous possibilities that are given with the piano, demonstrated very impressively!
    Above all, however, the opportunity to play your own chords and give your bass playing a lot more depth and harmony, as you explained, Thanks

    Hi Anthony great lessons, what are some books you will recommend for starters, there a lot of materials out there on Jazz chords and harmony and one can get confused as to where or which one to get... 🙏🏾

    Hi Anthony, great video though alot went over my head but thats fine. Im experimenting with chords on 4 string fretless and I have a digital piano too. Ive just became aware of voice leading on piano and bass about a year ago. My piano playing skills are adequate for writing simplified harmonic tunes but piano voice leading is still alien to me. Aimee Nolte has a vlog and she is a singer pianist who talks alot about this stuff too. By the way your piano skills are quite exceptional.

      Hopefully the concept comes through, regardless of how much you were able to absorb from this little video. I'll see you in the shed Vincent ;)

      @@AnthonyMuthurajah actually I do know about piano chord inversions and how to find diffrent voicings and rootless chords etc. But Ive never spent enough time at the piano with your level of concentration. I usually practice bass more as its on my bed. But I need to sit down and work harder. Im an older guy thats retired and lazy..lol

    Anthony, do you actually have perfect pitch? Or did you mean excellent relative pitch? Curious, because perfect pitch is quite rare, and can be a great advantage once some harmony is learned!

    • @AnthonyMuthurajah
      @AnthonyMuthurajah  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brian. Yes, I do have perfect pitch. However, I don't "endorse" it as an enhancement in my music. I see that happen too often and I think that's quite lame haha.

    As a bass player I find piano players very annoying. So many of them cant stop playing the bass notes and they never understand that thats the bass players job. Even very good piano players do this. its unbelievable realy
