Totally, but it's so small, you'd expect one of them to go around and bite it's neck to kill it so they don't have to fight for it :/ but cats are especially cruel in general when it comes to dealing with their prey. (Small cats that is :)

Imagine your front limbs out in front, locked stiff, driven into the dirt of the hole, as your muscles and bone structure defy physics by holding fast against 1000lbs of hungry lion. You're holding, you're holding, your hoofs are dug in, your elbows locked, you think you can hold out and maybe even get a little deeper into your hole. Suddenly, your bone structure yields and your front elbows break, the pain is unbearable and the whole situation doesnt even feel real. Absolutely terrifying.

The boar was caught with half his body in his burrow. He resisted for at least one long minute to big lions pulling his body with all their strength. He is a good example of how to resist and fight in life.

They are juveniles as they didn't hold the throat to kill it first, until at the end the one did. They are still learning but did a good job digging that warthog out.
Looked to me like they were young males, possibly just kicked out of their mother's pride and learning to survive on their own.

I never knew until these videos that warthogs would actually dig holes underground and live in them. Or that lions would be good at digging them out.
I just assumed lions chased their food or pounced on them.
Also, how deep are these holes? I just learned they could be several meters deep and have multiple exits and yet these lions never have to go all the way in to get a warthog out.
Edit: I just found out that warthogs don’t actually dig these holes. These are holes made by aardvarks that the hogs take over.

Lions like these are just as bad. And I'd argue painted dogs are _less_ bad; they'll shred the hog faster so it dies faster.
How did they not deliver the killing blow? Am I watching a different video? They successfully removed it from its hiding place, then turned it over; 2 lions held it down while the 3rd one chomped down on its neck. Perfectly executed.

The thing I like about lions is that they give off that feel that they just need to eat, at the end of the video you see one of them going for the throat to make the kill. It's like they don't want their prey to suffer unlike wild dogs and hyenas. Or to be fair, those smaller predators are just incapable of delivering a faster kill unlike lions.
Lions eat their prey while it's still alive too. All the time, judging on the amount of videos there are, where we can see it actually happening.
I disagree. Most of the time I see them struggle with killing quickly. With their typical prey, that is larger ungulates, they hold them down but it takes a lot of time to kill them. They just suffer to death, often being eaten when they're still alive.
I don't know if that's benevolence, or just practicality. One of the males originally had a choke hold, but then shifted to the belly (probably to start eating). The female then went to finish the job. Good on her.

@@mikejones9961 Lions are not designed for stamina. They don't chase their prey for long distances like wolves, wild dogs and hyenas. Their modus operandi is a stalk followed by a short rush. Digging out a warthog is exhausting work for a lion. I've seen a single lioness do it. She had two little cubs to feed so was pretty desperate. She dug a hole as deep as she stood tall, which took a long time (over an hour as far as I can remember), and had to pause frequently to rest. When she finally had dug deep enough, she pulled out a male warthog by his head. On the first attempt she only ripped an ear off, but the next time she got a good grip. This warthog was as large as they come, and fought hard all the way. The lioness not only had to pull him out of the burrow, but then also back out of the hole she had dug. That was easily the greatest feat of strength I've ever seen a lion perform. Once she had the warthog out, she rolled him over and got a good suffocating grip on his throat. Nevertheless, this warthog managed to get on his feet again five times. Each time she swept his feet from under him with a front paw. He then finally kicked the bucket. When mom first got hold of the warthog it of course started screaming. The cubs got an enormous fright and ran like bats out of hell. I believe they are still running.
