  • Today folks, we are targeting salmon, but the water is super murky where we are fishing. We are flat-lining the American Smelt which has rattles in it, and that will help the salmon find our lure, in this dirty water that we are dealing with. today. We are targeting water from 20 - 40 feet deep and the water temp is 47 - 48 degrees F...here we go

NY is in the process of stocking about 700k salmon this year along different locations on Lake Ontario. The salmon fishing was already pretty good but the next few year are gonna be even better with the added fish.

@@mikkivinen4869 same with every single Chinook, coho, brown and rainbow in the lake lil bro.
Do you think any of those are naturally occuring? Likely only a small amount of wild Atlantic blood in the Atlantic salmon we catch now. The fish that aren't stocked are descendents of stocked fish

I caught a king the other day in 14 fow trolling for browns on the NY side. Great fight...never got one that shallow before.

Kings and coho are naturalized in the Great Lakes, and stocking programs are ongoing. Atlantic salmon are also resident.

Will the lures depth change with speed. And what is the max depth the American smelt will go too.

It can dive up to 25 ft with thinner line👍👍 Generally though, it will dive 20 feet🎣

Speed is not necessary a factor

Do you have resident salmon in the lake? Besides kokanee lol

I don't believe there's any kokanee in Lake Ontario. There are Chinook, Atlantic, coho salmon as well as big brown trout and steelhead. Only natives are lake trout and brook trout. Although I only know of small brookies far up certain tributaries, don't think any are able to survive the competition in the lake
