If there was a class on history of gangs for African American studies in public and private universities, this channel would be a gold mine, great content.
That ending was priceless. Most would have pride discussing their opposition, but instead Jimmy points out how similar crips and bishop really were. I just wanna thank Kev Mac and Jimmy Lavender for lacing us with a wealth of what really happened back then. Salute family
Jimmy Lavender seems to be a real solid dude. I'm a damu, but I got love for some rips as well. At the end of the day...we're all black people, and we need to learn how to disagree without disrespecting one another. Peace.
"We need to learn how to disagree without disrespecting each other." Real talk! It's better when people are willing to tell their story when they disagree and keep it pushin'.
Kev Mac much respect for you,Kev. You seem to be determined to hear the real history of the bloods and crips, and not just the white washed stories of us seeming like barbaric monsters. Keep doing your thing, bro. Most of us watching and listening respect it. ✌🏾✊🏾
@@KevMacVideos .. You and Mel are My official street historian record keepers, i love the crip, blood, and migo files... I want blackpanther, gd, bd, vicelords, el rukins/p-stones, latin kings, trinidarios, jamaican shower posse, and florida zoes 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
this is like pure gold.. It's extremely important that you're making these vids.. As these dudes get older these stories will eventually fade away. There's no historical archive for this specific culture. I'm telling you as an outsider looking in it's fascinating.. It all comes down to videos like this.. It's like the interviews you see with World War 2 veterans.. Those dudes from that generation are dying off by the hundreds every day. Thank God they have been on tape telling the tales.. I'm from the East Coast like 2000 miles away in Boston and I'm learning from these videos man. It's a culture that has to be documented just like there's one in my city.. Great job.. This guy is the type of dude I'd kill to sit down and have a few drinks with at some dive bar somewhere..
MiZzO_978 _ .. I'm just north of the City.. about 10min outside downtown.. My family is originally from Somerville and Charlestown though.. I've lived all over the Boston area though.. from Salem to Lowell..
this is one of the best interviews I've seen in a long time .. somebody with real knowledge and names ..facts backed up with dates and first and last name km u the official G.o.a. t. greatest of all time
Thank you Kev Mac for these interviews. There's no other history more interesting to me than the early formation of modern LA gangs. Keep up the good work.
Mr. Lavender is a great interviewee. A man with his knowledge and charisma makes the entire interview worthwhile and watchable, & easy work for you. Would've liked to know what career he ventured into post street life. The man is articulate and I hope he was able to leverage that ability positively. Also, what became of the Bishop that shot Duck? Did they handle it in-house? I also would've liked to know of his opinion and/or relationship with T-Rodgers. Hopefully, you can interview him next.
The ending was powerful how he came to the funeral & said that no retaliation occurred because he came to the funeral & shaked their hands & said WE AINT CELEBRATING DUCKS DEATH THAT WAS MY FRIEND
kev mac u deserve universal recognition 4 your award worthy documentaries. u & og jimmy lavender took me to university with this one. brilliant work. 🥇🎥
this is my big homie/big brother/& mentor every thing he has said in these videos is true history and facts...i talk to him on a daily basis so any questions the world have on the Bishop family...please feel free to ask..
Chewy 261 most of the bloods vs crips wars are either on the decline,or either they just stay out of each other's way. I think in about ten years...blacks will be even more consolidated. Only we can stop us!
Profound and Honorable! remember going to Roosevelt Park, as a kid when we lived on the Eastside Hooper, and Nadeau. We lived over there from 73 to 81 Then we moved to the Westside 67th and Brynhurst Ave
This interview was nothing short of a blessing. Not one time did this an every sit back and glorify violence and killing. He told the fun times. Sure he explained the riff raff stuff that most teens get into, but he told the stories with tact and class. The young bangers need to be sitting at the feet of men like this. What I love is that he explained that friendships meant more than gang sets and colors. Kev you da man!!!!
Man it's crazy hearing stories that involved my uncle from someone other than him. Everything he described was spot on to who he was even in his old age lmao RIP uncle AL
Damn this interview was solid. Its crazy because i grew up in this hood and in 78 and 79 im like 9 ,10 years old and i would see them in the summer bellin to Roosevelt park deep. Between 1982-88 The Bishops would be at war with the ECC, Grape st, Beach Town mafia. Rough back then.
Another great job Kev .......I know that three part Godfather type movie is coming one day. With all the shit going on out here today , your giving what true respect was back in the 60's and 70's. Dudes take Fades and for the most part it was over after the fight with exception of some pulling guns out but A lot live to fight another day . You hear the mutual respect they had. Keep it up homie GREAT JOB!!!
I think all the young shooters and so called gangsters under the age of 25 should watch part 4. I know family members who shoot at each other due to where they grew up and hang out with. This Brother went to a funeral to pay respects to his friend. He didn't care if he died or not. His actions probably saved a lot of lives at the time. That's a man right there !!! It takes a man to do that ! Salute to him. I wish their was a part 5. I could listen to him all day. Powerful interview !!!
good work kev mac I subscribed to your channel, im watching you from sydney australia this OG seems like a cool cat givin people the knowledge yu should have asked him where he was during the beef between the eight treys and the rollin' 60's in the late 70's
I hope you get a opportunity to interview some of the early gangs like the AVENUES, GLADTORS, REBEL ROUSSERS, SLAUSON TO GET there perspective thoughts.

Wow very powerful interview. It's a trip to hear about when gang banging actually meant something and just wasnt about getting bitches and getting fresh, or going out killing senselessly. The root of it all is respect and friendship but now it's so watered down it's a shame.
Ken Ha I seen this documentary on TH-cam that looked as if it was filmed in tbe 90's or so and this one brotha has pictures and telling stories about Raymond and tbe eatside... Tbe brotha was around when Raymond was assassinated... He had this dope drawing of a Nigga with tbe NHC and ECC... I believe he's from what we would call tbe cix pacc these days
I could talk to this OG all day! He a real one! Glad he realised and stopped bangin' early. Probably why he still alive. Shame he didn't know anything about the Bloods tho, guess they came a lot later
Osman Khan he knew bout them tho bounty humans denver lanez and da prius he said and I think they were on the verge of converting to blood any way so basically they were already blood it just wasn't official yet
Dude who shot and killed Duck was a coward...if Duck was getting the best of his homie he should've just caught a back fade in support of his homie; so many guys have lost their lives like Duck did because some dude was a coward when it really came down to it and escalated a situation to gunplay...a fade regardless of outcome should never result in gunfire
Love these videos!!! I wish we would soldier up against these white boys the way we go after one another!!! Can you imagine what would have happened to that white boy who killed that innocent black man in N.Y. if we still had brothers like this patrolling our hoods???
I can't but love listening to this man because he emphasizes family and friends and I tell most Brothers whenever I get a chance I would say most of the people you beefing were your family friends and or relatives but they don't want to hear it because there's money in war plus they need to fight to impress the girls.
