Drive at reasonable speed for conditions, if you slide lightly turn the opposite way you're sliding to correct and don't break too hard lightly use breaks, it's not too hard, most wrecks are people just going way too fast....
Do yourself a favor and download the UDOT app. You can see all the plows on there (whether you want to avoid them in your Subaru or follow them in your Focus 😉)
Thanks for the video. Great you showed several situations like freeways, main roads, and side streets. Great job! I am seriously thinking of moving to Sandy and this helped a lot.
Thank you for this video, Cody! In summary, it reminds me of life in Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Colorado, in my childhood. Not too bad, eh? I'm heading out to Salt Lake this next week, looking forward to contacting you! My Saint Bernard will love the climate. Bob
Thank you for the video! We are moving to Utah the first week of January and don't have much experience driving in the snow. We're hoping it's not too bad!
It’s bad. It’s definitely bad. The part of the valley matters tho. Out where I live on the far western part of West Jordan, we get the double whammy of higher elevation (5,000 feet) and lake effect snow. We average 70+” of snow per year when down town SLC averages only 50-55”.
I’m really excited to move to Salt Lake City now. I’m looking at herriman. I’m wondering if I should get a turbocharged engine like the Jeep Cherokee trail hawk.
Moving to Ogden in 2 weeks. My Prius has done OK in some major snow in the past but I plan to upgrade to a RAV4 in a year or two. I have some chains of it gets really bad.
Nice man, not sure if you mentioned but is it required to have snow chains on the tires? I don't have winter tires but I want to visit maybe next week!!
Visit in the summer/ spring lol, otherwise just check road conditions, usually all weather tires are able to get you from point a to b after the streets have been shoveled ,
Are you a real estate agent? Housing is the thing that's not so easy about this city and most other major metros for costs are high and it's a not quick and easy straightforward thing to get keys to an apartment or home. Snow days are ones with lots of accidents for people really drive fast here and many disregard rules of the road and common things like running lights, failing to yield to pedestrians, and just going too fast. Not all are terrible at driving, but it just never ceases to surprise you what some people will do out there on the roads. Being alert, defensive, and allowing yourself leeway time is always a smart approach.
Looks like a beautiful place to live. I live in Ohio and have never traveled West. I have gone North, East and South but never West. I would love to have mountains, valleys, forests, deserts, and variety around the region. That is the cool thing about the Western USA. Here in Ohio, if you arent in Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati or along Lake Erie then you are surrounded by cornfields and farmland. Blah. I am sure you get some amazing and beautiful views throughout the SLC area. I hear the snow is nicer out there in Utah? The Greatest Snow on Earth, in fact. haha Why is this? How did this nickname come about and what makes the snow nicer there?
It’s a year later but we’re coming up on winter so here you go. The salt from the Great Salt Lake makes the snow denser and therefore makes it more soft, light and fluffy. Which is what they say is the best snow to ski in.
We'll be in SLC the 1st of Dec/2020 and ready to sign a contract in buying a house in (Daybreak) South Jordan. We are leaving Micky Mouse town(Orlando, FL) and I want to thank you for the video..
I have a friend who goes there frequently and the stories I hear are so dramtic . 😂😂 She'll be like "Oh my God there was like 8 or 9 crashes on the freeway between AZ and Salt Lake , there was someone who spinned out of control because of the snow , there's semis these people are crazy driving like 70 mph in a snow storm . " Everytime she goes this is what's happening according to her . Is she over reacting ?
Sounds more like Ohio in the winter! lol We get some serious snowstorms in the Northeast part of the state (primary snow belt/lake effect snow) and of course that's going to cause a lot of accidents. I wouldn't be surprised if tons of accidents happen around the Utah/AZ area in the snow areas just because you've got so many people living in that region of the country who have never even seen snow, let alone driven in it. There is a lot of desert areas that do not see snow. People driving on interstate freeways around there come from all over the place so.. its very plausible. Semis driving 70 mph during snow tho?? hmm, I don't know about that one although semi accidents during the winter time in Ohio is a regular occurrence. Sometimes multi-semi accidents.
My goodness, it looks like a miserable place. Freezing cold, no warmth, snow, 'Hell to the, no to the' (Moesha theme song). Thank heavens I live in central Florida (though South Florida is more ideal but no thanks to Miami and any place close to it). ICEtah seems more miserable than COLDorado.
I rather snow during the winter time then Sun/Heat/Humidity ALL YEAR long tho! I lived in Palm Beach, FL in 2014 for 6 months. I loved it while I was there but it is not something I could put up with all year, year after year. I like the change in seasons and shake ups. Come winter time, i am ready for snow. Come spring, I am ready for warm and flowers. Come Summer, i am ready for heat and swimming. Come Fall time, i am ready for nature and hiking and a cool down. It is nice to have variety. However, living by the ocean and having access to the beach makes FL a great place to live.
Yeah it looks beautiful. But not sure why it seems lonely and depressing. I would just live there half year and move or at least travel outside frequently if live there long term.
There's this bull shit. Utah has the "Greatest Snow on Earth". I can't remember voting on this. Utah gets dry snow. Here in the Sierra every time you go out the snow is different, you ski on power one day and on ice the next. So, these demanding changing conditions for you to become a better skier. The same is true driving. Drive over the Sierra Nevada and the road conditions are ever changing.
Thinking about Winter in Utah? Check out my latest video on 6 tips to survive Winter in Utah. th-cam.com/video/ssiS5J9WEF4/w-d-xo.html
Im moving there next week. I have driven 550k miles and about 6 driving in snow. Coming from Vegas.
Nice!

I'm glad it helped Oscar! I live in Sandy myself, so let me know what other questions you happen to have.
I agree - several useful situations, that was so helpful to see all of that.

It will take some getting used to, but after you do it a few times it's not too bad.

Thanks for this! Possibly moving there from Georgia. The snow is so pretty!
I agree!

You should be fine with a car, but an SUV never hurts!

Not necessarily. Winter tires or all wheel drive is highly recommended. You will need both, or chains, to go up the canyons though.
Visit in the summer/ spring lol, otherwise just check road conditions, usually all weather tires are able to get you from point a to b after the streets have been shoveled ,
Thanks a lot dude ¡!
Thank you Sir. ❤
Thanks for watching!!

Nice! Congratulations on the upcoming move! Don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything I can do to help with the move!
They still use Salt on the roads, your vehicle will rust out if you don't take care of it.
Yes, you definitely want to keep your car clean
I really want to feel stay in snowy country, because our country have 2 season only. Most tropical ...
Beautiful place?
Yes it is!
