    ❓FAQ ABOUT ME:
    » Where are you from?
I’m from Yorkshire, in the North of England. I went to University in Canterbury (in the south of England), and have since lived in France, Spain and the USA.
» Do you teach English via Skype?
Yes, see the top of the description for links to book classes with me. I also own Online Language Academy, an online English school with native English teachers, that teaches English conversation to students from all around the world. Book a trial class here: goo.gl/NnPkCP
» How many languages do you speak?
My mother tongue is English. I have a Batchelor’s degree in French and lived for 1 year in France, so I speak fluent French. I have lived in Spain for over 8 years and speak fluent Spanish, and I also learnt Italian to intermediate level while at university (but have forgotten most of it). I also tried learning Portuguese, Greek and Swahili very briefly.
» Can you recommend a TV series to help me improve my English?
My recommendation is to find something you love watching in your native language, and then watch it in English. This way, you already know the characters, you know the story, and can focus on the language. My personal favourite American TV programmes are FRIENDS (goo.gl/G7s1yP) and The Office (US) (goo.gl/znsJsZ). My favourite British TV series is Gavin and Stacy (goo.gl/5QcFCJ).

I've seen ALOT of good videos on this topic. They all advanced my knowledge about connected speech, but this one, by far, is the best one I've seen!!!!
Next video will be "Linking R + Intrusive R".
I think that the 'ye' sound becomes a 'j'. Am I right?
I have taken some notes that might help you out - out there:
Intrusion: Put in an extra sound between two vowels to make it easier to pronounce.
Put a /j/ = [ye(t)/j] sound in between these syllables, if the next word starts with a vowel.
    A: /ai/ Buy
    B: /i:/ Tea
    C: /ei/ Today
    D: /oi/ Boy
    A: /ai/
    I [ye/j]always
    I [ye/j]ate pizza
    I [ye/j]own a camera
    B: /i:/
    He [ye/j]always says that
    He [ye/j]always has his classes…
The [ye/j]animal (The + next word vowel -> The changes the sound to [“Thii” animal] and has the /i:/)
    The [ye/j]elephant
    The [ye/j]igloo
    The [ye/j]owl
    The [ye/j]umbrella
    C: /ei/
    Day [ye/j]after day
    Monday [ye]and Thursday
    D: /oi/
    Boy [ye/j]and girl

Thanks .. What does it mean the weak forms

    • @EnglishWithGreg
      @EnglishWithGreg  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Weak forms are words that take the schwa sound in spoken English.
Look at the sentence: _What do you want to do this evening?_
The first _do_ is a weak form, and uses the schwa sound. The second _do_ is stressed.
      I hope that helps! 😀

It appears in SOME American accents (New York, New Jersey...) but doesn’t exist in most of them. It always appears in British English (though in one British accent they use an intrusive L instead 🤦🏻‍♂️)

Mate, it's not any "imaginary" j sound you add between I always. I is the dyphhtong, "J" sound is there already, so you don't need to imagine anything. What you do, it's actually you put two words together . It's just a bad example. The animal, the elephant, those are alright.
