This era of the early 2000's I was discovering so many new and amazing bands and I only recently remembered how important Wolf Parade was in that lineup. I am revisiting this album after almost a decade and am in absolute tears over how perfect this album is.

'I'll Believe In Anything' is the best song on the entire album. That song made me stop what I was doing and find out what the name of the song was. Such a powerful and exciting song.
heard it for the first time when i visited france when i was 18. the whole trip was incredible, but this song and the other music i discovered during those two weeks have sat with me for so long. i still consider this song the best song ive ever heard
I read this comment with tears in my eyes (no joke) hearing "watching you run farther than guns will go" for the first time in a good while... I pre-ordered a CD of their new album today, looking forward to that. Their lyrics are abstract a lot of the time, but for some reason the lyrics and the music produces pretty strong emotional-type reactions for me personally... might actually have to find something else to work to, ha ha.
Took me a while to get into this album when it first came out. Then maybe a year later something clicked and it was one of my favorite albums of all time. Saw them last October in DC. Still sound amazing. Glad they got back together.
First song I heard by these guys was "Modern World" and I just loved it. Led me to one of my two favourite bands in high school. Love these guys so much.
This album sounds like the TTC in my late 20s. Like specifically the 504 at Lansdowne when you had to transfer to a bus for streetcar track maintenance. Thats the amount of time it would take me from putting on the album until "I'll believe" hit. YMMV
"Okay. Me vs. All college grads, university worldwide and I get Mitch Hedberg, Ryan Reynolds, and Spencer Krug." ,dan' (i bet we can beat you enough to create a game you could cheat at to win and still feel whole as any good fraction is)
"Knock knock knocking on Hades door. Hell's just doesn't sound as smart or pretty or sharp. My tongue is a cleaver that gave up on the steak knife once he felt that it was pearing. My voice is a ghost. My feet don't need to walk when they run just to obsolete you." ,dan' (i will be tired when I'm dead)
"I'm not the Devil. I'm Satan's alter ego Mephistopheles. The one that plays guitar pretty good and has a way with words so much that they can pick him up or leave him be. From ignornce and confusion laid a shellshocked warrior in Valhalla to let all the other soldiers know that their tasks were to lay a warrior.l to slain. Man teams up to kill off Greek Gods. I killed Zeus with the help of Mother Teresa for instance." ,dan'
Discovered by Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse, who signed them to Sub Pop Records. Apparently, he also knew one of the guys in the band well from way back, according to wikipedia. Anyway, Modest Mouse's influence is heard, but I hear many other influences. To me, it's kind of similar to many other Montreal prog rock bands, big healthy scene there, but I think these guys are worth putting on my living room/bedroom stereo and in my car stereo. Very good album.
I don't normally hit the dislike button, but this had to be done. My friend referred me to this band and I am extremely disappointed. It seems that everywhere I turn people are listening to bands that haven't the slightest sense of musicianship. This music isn't pleasant at all. This generation of music listeners is brainwashed by poppy garbage catchy hooks, and if they're not then they turn the hipster scene: "Who cares how it sounds, it's different". I can guarantee that these bands will sound like scraping metal at a junkyard live. Raise your standards people. GO on... let's hear it
+Adam Felicia If you think the guys in Wolf Parade lack musicianship then you're just showing how little sense of it YOU have. Maybe this music isn't for you, which is fine, but you sound incredibly close-minded by writing off this and other bands as "hipster" and not recognizing their musical merit. But go on, enlighten us, tell "this generation" what they should really be listening to.
The transition from Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts and I’ll Believe in Anything is so crisp. Love it!
2022 still here. If all goes well I’ll be seeing Wolf Parade live this year.
2024 :) Have you listened to the new Dan Boeckner album??

Thank you for mentioning the time online discographies are at times extremely inaccurate.
One of the most underrated bands in existence. It's like the Bible; every time you hear it, you get a new revelation ✊
Best indie album of the 00s.
still prefer the moon and antarctica, but this one comes pretty close
and the 201x what amazing unheard songs they planted in the past..now sounding like fresh and vital unlike another certain canadian band cough
Moon and Antarctica and The Meadowlands might be better, you're right.
This is a great album but I prefer Yellow House and Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear, although they're more indie Folk/psychedelic Folk

Bringin' me back to the good ol' 00's
nothing better to chill and simultaneously deal and not deal with emotions to than Wolf Parade.

ill believe in anything saved my soul . i love that song so much
One of my favourite albums of all time.
I remember stumbling upon to this album randomly in 2006 iirc and god I loved it so much. This entire album is a gem imo.
Songwriting genius. Album of the decade. Starts off slow, really takes off a few songs in...
The intro reminds me of the intro from Coldwar Kids we used to vacation
they sound absolutely perfect live
Excellent album with some cool groves, unique arrangements, and great style! Well done Wolf Parade!
This album is amazing.

Still my favorite album of theirs, played this one all the way through at work yesterday morning. c: Totes underrated
so good. I'm going back to the 2000's stuff I used to listen to
Dinner Bells may be the best song of the decade!
I was just thinking that as I re-listened to this for the first time in years. Time to put this album back in rotation!
Spencer Krug!! Great vocals/lyrics
Oh, Inverted World my sincerest Apologies To The Queen Mary for Everything All The Time
I see what you did there.
one of my top ten albums of all time
I swear I'll be listening to Dinner Bells on my deathbed. Such a somber tone.
I went to a Wolf Parade show at Sugar Nightclub in Victoria once. Must have been 2008?
Damn, Capitol Ballroom now. Missed what would have been my first show there because of covid. Mouse on the Keys will be heard live eventually.
Sub Pop, stop making me tell you just how much I love you......
para mi...unos de los mejores temas de mi vida
This album sounds like the TTC in my late 20s.

Memories of Bawls soda, BF2142, and this album on repeat
Turn to x2 speed and Fancy Claps will be a power metal song and You Are a Runner and I Am My Father's Son will be a dance-punk song
Silent Alarm, Antics, Alligator and this.

+Harte Craft You can feel Isaac's production all over
This is the first time I've heard them and that's what I thought immediately.

+Adam Felicia Wow very brave of you to dislike a ten year old album

Music is subjective, pal.
