  • Sam Taylor was serving with the Royal Engineers in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, when he was shot in the neck by a sniper. The bullet fractured his spine, caused extensive nerve damage and effectively brought an end to his military career.
Lacking direction and purpose, he reached out to Wings for Warriors, a charity that provides wounded veterans with the opportunity to retrain as professional pilots.
Please take a few minutes to listen to Sam’s inspirational story.
The Veterans’ Foundation is a proud supporter of Wings for Warriors, one of 350 UK-based military charities (check) organisations to share in more than £12.7m in grants since 2016.

@@JBS2018 it is very relevant. Soldiers, especially those belonging to an invasion force, are killers. They destroy, that's what they do. This person could be an engineer, a scientist, a doctor, an artist, etc, but he consciously chose the path of killing others.
Afghanistan is the way it is because of invaders like him. People there haven't known peace for a long time because of the constant invasions.

@@JBS2018 but now you are talking a political point of view....i´m talking about the soldiers...the russian soldiers are also "serving" as you put if earlier....and yes i have seen videos of American troops under mortar fire from 1 insurgent (Taliban) from a village and the whole village was carpet bombed and several innocent children lost their lives and limbs instead of just going in to get that one Taliban that bugged out immediately anyway....5 mile snipers, cowards....collateral damage is fine as long as its American or NATO collateral damage right ?....Dolt !! you´re the dolt doughnut

Honestly Veterans should get free housing, free medical, free travel and fixed pension equal to the average wage of the country and never pay tax ever again as a bare minimum.

@@Wrathlon injured combat veterans maybe, but I dont think the taxpayers should fit the bill for all the army techns, analysists, and pencil pushers' lifetime expenses. Thats just silly.

@@fr00bersI agree, but "injured" shouldn't be a requirement.
Three dudes got killed on my deployment, four got wounded and sent home, and the rest of us spent more than year longer in the war zone than they did. We just got lucky and the bullets/bombs missed us. We technically did WAY more than the injured dudes who got sent home.
Combat vets should get compensation, regardless of whether they got injured or not.
Another way to view this, is those injured soldiers didn't have to go on 70 more combat missions. They didn't have to go out of the wire the very next day after seeing seven people get dropped.
"Injured" combat veterans are not more deserving than combat veterans who got lucky.

I feel for the people and their stories, but why should I play lottery because of that? I don‘t want to be mean, perhaps I‘m misunserstanding something. But if not: Lottery is gambling and can drive people into addiction… this is psychological manipulation with sad stories for gaining money with gambling for a good thing? Wtf!?
