These mountains weren't always my home but after more than 30 years here they have become home. It's like having nature's arms wrapped around you all the time.

If you ever get a chance to go to Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, it’s amazing!! There is a part of it called Cades Cove that you drive thru. It’s so beautiful!! Love the Smokey Mountains in the Fall.

Kim, you guys need to do the Biltmore. Your Mom can do it, you can take your time doing the tour. There are seats in the Biltmore. My mother did it and she has problems walking.
Agreed. My mom’s great grandpa was a stable hand for the Vanderbilts, and lived in the barn loft. The house is amazing and the grounds are breathtaking.
My parents saw the Biltmore house back in 2005 and enjoyed it on there trip thru Louisiana Mississippi Alabama Georgia the Carolinas and Florida the space place and up into Tennessee saw the mill where Jack Daniel’s was made and of All Thangs it Rained the whole time they were gone in nine days. 😮😊

I went through the GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS, every year, going from Indiana to Morristown, TN, for family reunions. I miss those times. We saw black bears, deer and squirrels! Lots and lots of squirrels! The mountains are beautiful, any time of year. We usually went in high summer. It was always cooler down there. The train ride is almost as good as looking from the road, 55 years ago! Prayers and Blessings always ♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️ Oh, my! Gigi found BETTY BOOP! ♥️♥️
Kim, I’ve been watching your videos since you started doing them. I admire you and all the work you do. I also admire Gigi. She is so active after having her hip surgery. I am 73 years old and I had two hip replacements Last year. After the first surgery, my right foot was paralyzed, and I’m unable to do a lot. I live in Western Tennessee, In between Memphis and Nashville. We love going to the mountains, and I love your videos of the trip. Thank you So much for sharing. It really means a lot. Just finding the train station was an adventure ! Very interesting. My relatives in Pennsylvania live on the side of a really steep hill like those houses you filmed. They had their lawn mower on a rope and would lower it down and pull it back up that way. Just a suggestion. Right now is the best time to take a ride down the blue ridge parkway if you have the time while they are in NC! Its so breathtakingly beautiful and something you will never forget! Plus its right above "Mayberry" the real Place Andy Griffith is from and the Andy Griffith show was filmed...the barbershop etc If you wanna check that out We'd love to have ya!

Asheville is the ancestral birth place of my paternal grandparents. The road you drove thru Asheville and Morgantown is how I learned to drive at 16! Continue having a great trip. 🥰🥰

Norma here. Really enjoying taking this trip with you. The Biltmore is beautiful, but there really is a lot of walking. I just got back from a weekend in Savannah where all we did was walk. We even took a 3 hour walking ghost tour one night. I was exhausted and my feet hurt for a week afterwards. The Biltmore would have been too much for Gigi. However, the train ride looked like so much fun. You picked a great time of year because the scenery was gorgeous. I love mountains. Reminded me of upstate NY in autumn. Can’t wait to see the next video. I love how Levi always puts his arm around Gigi’s shoulder. They are so cute.
It's a beautiful time of the year for your train ride with all the colors changing on the trees! I just love the scenery with the water and the trees, when you first started out with the train ride I love the quaint little town with the buildings with all the paintings on them! That man had a great beard and I love that walking stick. The train station is so adorable. I would have opened the window and waved at everyone as we passed. Love the smokies an yes the roads are narrow ! Just be safe! They should offer to shuttle if is a long walk! My late husband would of love that he loved trains! One of my best friends lived in Asheville when she passed away sure miss her!

Kim!kim!Kim! You are in one of my family towns I want to cry. That’s were my Mammaw was a waitress at the fish camp till she was 75. She has passed. She passed 14 years to the day u were there. U came through old fort after that very Windie road where I Got married. U pasted Marion and Nebo all my family lives there and I was there till I meet my husband. If I had known u were going through my places I could have drove u and let u site see. But I am wanting to cry so bad. I have been sick for 6 months now and haven’t got to go home. I live in Va because my husband’s job in DC. But I am about as country as u can get. My parents was visiting my aunts in Nebo yesterday I bet u passed them. Wow small world. U are my family now guys. Have fun and I am praying for your safe travels.

Sounds like you are going to be traveling through my neck of the woods today. What an awesome trip that you are making with your Mom and Levi. With all the walking you had to do, I think your Mom could have done Biltmore. I've been there a few times and it isn't so bad.
We rode the train 3 summers ago before C 19. I think we were in #4 so not as long a walk. Plus it was summertime and we dropped a bunch of people off at some point and they had rented rafts and rode back down the river. Everything was so green when we were there. We spent the night in a hotel in Cherokee. I've been on those roads in the day time but no way I'd go in the dark! If Ed had it his way, we'd sell the house and move there. But I don't think I could handle how cold it gets so I'm not sure I could live there. But it sure is beautiful country, and your right... pictures and videos don't come close to how beautiful it is. What's funny is I was watching this and Ed is wearing the shirt he bought there from the gift shop.

I enjoyed this travel day.🚞🚞 Used to travel a lot through europe and africa and miss it immensely. These days I don't get much further than my small garden. My family and I loved our ride on The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad last December. But you do have a better view with the trees still in foilage. I Love the Smokey Mountain!
The Smoky Mountains are my favorite place on earth!.. The Biltmore is AWESOME and really a must see... My husband was born and raised in NC .. Also Cherokee NC is awesome to visit too...
Bless you- this is coal country. The companies built employee housing densely and often squished into hollars, and they were usually stacked up like that. That way everyone could walk to the company store, and spend their scrip. Executives had fancier homes, on the opposite side of running water, train tracks and the main road through town from the miners. Happy trails, lots of love! And Biltmore is mind boggling- please go through Pisgah Ntnl Forest! Brevard was my summer music camp, and there's no more beautiful place to me.

Just finding the train station was an adventure ! Very interesting. My relatives in Pennsylvania live on the side of a really steep hill like those houses you filmed. They had their lawn mower on a rope and would lower it down and pull it back up that way. Kim, Levi, and Gigi! It is so cool to see y'all in my home state of North Carolina!! Hope y'all are enjoying every minute! The lake was Fontana lake that was created when Fontana dam was built. As you can see we are having a drought here like y'all are having in Plum Grove. We are also having a cold snap. Temperatures are cooler than normal for this time of year. Norma here. Really enjoying taking this trip with you. The Biltmore is beautiful, but there really is a lot of walking. I just got back from a weekend in Savannah where all we did was walk. We even took a 3 hour walking ghost tour one night. I was exhausted and my feet hurt for a week afterwards. The Biltmore would have been too much for Gigi. However, the train ride looked like so much fun. You picked a great time of year because the scenery was gorgeous. I love mountains. Reminded me of upstate NY in autumn.
Can’t wait to see the next video. I love how Levi always puts his arm around Gigi’s shoulder. They are so cute.
It's a beautiful time of the year for your train ride with all the colors changing on the trees! I just love the scenery with the water and the trees, when you first started out with the train ride I love the quaint little town with the buildings with all the paintings on them! Love the smokies an yes the roads are narrow ! Just be safe! They should offer to shuttle if is a long walk! My late husband would of love that he loved trains! One of my best friends lived in Asheville when she passed away sure miss her!
That's good ole Kentucky. Mountains, many curved roads. That was a strange place to gather to board the train and the old guy sure sounded pleasant 😆.

Kim!kim!Kim! You are in one of my family towns I want to cry. That’s were my Mammaw was a waitress at the fish camp till she was 75. She has passed. She passed 14 years to the day u were there. U came through old fort after that very Windie road where I Got married. U pasted Marion and Nebo all my family lives there and I was there till I meet my husband. If I had known u were going through my places I could have drove u and let u site see. But I am wanting to cry so bad. I have been sick for 6 months now and haven’t got to go home. I live in Va because my husband’s job in DC. But I am about as country as u can get. My parents was visiting my aunts in Nebo yesterday I bet u passed them. Wow small world. U are my family now guys. Have fun and I am praying for your safe travels.

Sounds like you are going to be traveling through my neck of the woods today. What an awesome trip that you are making with your Mom and Levi. With all the walking you had to do, I think your Mom could have done Biltmore. I've been there a few times and it isn't so bad.

We rode the train 3 summers ago before C 19. I think we were in #4 so not as long a walk. Plus it was summertime and we dropped a bunch of people off at some point and they had rented rafts and rode back down the river. Everything was so green when we were there. We spent the night in a hotel in Cherokee. I've been on those roads in the day time but no way I'd go in the dark! If Ed had it his way, we'd sell the house and move there. But I don't think I could handle how cold it gets so I'm not sure I could live there. But it sure is beautiful country, and your right... pictures and videos don't come close to how beautiful it is. What's funny is I was watching this and Ed is wearing the shirt he bought there from the gift shop.

Chew gum to pop your ears going up into the mountains. It's gradual but at some point when you aren't used to the elevation your ears will plug up.

what an awesome trip! i heard your comment " about the banks being baron needing hydro seeding". here in the North Georgia area the lakes are drained 6 to 7 feet for the rains that usually come through out the fall/ winter seasons. My family and I loved our ride on The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad last December. But you do have a better view with the trees still in foilage. I Love the Smokey Mountain!
The Smoky Mountains are my favorite place on earth!.. The Biltmore is AWESOME and really a must see... My husband was born and raised in NC .. Also Cherokee NC is awesome to visit too...
Bless you- this is coal country. The companies built employee housing densely and often squished into hollars, and they were usually stacked up like that. That way everyone could walk to the company store, and spend their scrip.
Executives had fancier homes, on the opposite side of running water, train tracks and the main road through town from the miners.
