I have been looking for an outstanding video on the subject and found it today with this video! I have a love of collecting shellfish for fun and to eat. I have never gone after Paua. Bu hope to change that soon! I have subscribed and look forward to more adventures on your channel! :)
Out here in California, the fishing season for abs has been closed for years. In the past, I have cleaned them, sliced them thinly, a light pounding with a beer bottle or mallet, dip in egg and bread crumbs, a quick light fry and done! They almost don't need to be tenderized if you slice them thin enough.
You would like as many people as possible to watch your channel Yes.?? Putting in the amount ( daily or seasonal quota ) that your allowed to take in New Zealand might be a good thing for your overseas Subscribers, or setting out the link to Fish & Game N.Z. will help..
our secret spot! Nah you can find Paua pretty much anywhere along Kaikoura's coastline, but sadly you can't legally take Paua anymore because they closed the Paua fishery again. Hopefully, they will open it back up in the future!
My old home town for many years, great to see views of Kaikoura and it's coastline, and where I've foraged for Paua too, loved the video man
Great work - fantastic to see your respect for nature and the fishery

The marine reserve is the east side of the peninsular, just past the pier hotel and bar. Then the rest is filmed down south of Kaikoura.
