    From the drone vid at Texas there was definitely two foundations been laid down for 9000T Giga Presses. Which is quite understandable. These huge machines need substantial foundations. More importantly to make the quantity of CT there is going to be need a lot of castings. With the cycle time quite slow there is the need for two presses.

  • @AllCarbone
    @AllCarbone ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The second 9000 t Gigapress should be for front part.
    It takes too much time to change tooling to produce front and rear part in one machine only.
    If you want to produce front and rear casting, you should have 2 machines, to make it more efficient and to get higher quantities.

    Thank you for the very informative video. For your information, the Rio Grande River at the point where it enters the Gulf of Mexico is almost dry about 3 months a year. This is a desert area and the Rio Grande should be called the Rio Poquito. Also, the sub surface water availability is very low. Therefore, the only logical water source is through a Desalinization of the water from the Gulf of Mexico, which is a viable solution. In fact, a DeSal plant financed by Tesla, in conjunction with the local authorities, would be a great water solution and a political coup.

    That's the way to make consistent parts with the least amount of manufacturing steps, if the dies are designed well to meet the requirements you get the same part over and over again. Initial machine cost is high but I guess over time and parts produced it pays to go this manufacturing route.

  • @madyak222

    Munro said that the cycle time in Tesla is 43 seconds, not the 90 seconds quoted here, meaning far higher production rates, coupled with new models made much faster again and vertical integration paying huge dividends, I think Tesla could actually dominate the entire automotive industry within ten years, several legacy and new to market manufacturers will likely go bankrupt in that same ten years.

    Just a note about the vast barren parking lots at Tesla... perhaps they could have used stacked/underground parking garages to reduce the excessive amount of land paved over previous forests or add at least add trees throughout the parking spaces to improve the appeal of the sterile parking lot.

    I think the $25,000 car is more advanced. I am guessing that Tesla is going to cast the whole frame for this car. That’s a big casting and it could need the 9000T press, which could be why one has gone to Shanghai. The $25,000 car is going to need huge volume when it is launched. It would make sense to be produced in several factories especially factories with lower cost

    Planting lots of trees and installing lots of solar panels on the factory roof and covering parking areas can actually help increase rainfall and reduce drying out the ground slightly in the immediate area. This is because a portion of energy from the sun that would have just ended up baking the ground will now be used in photosynthesis and in generating electricity. The area will then cool down slowly, aiding precipitation. The end result could be the reverse of desertification if the process is managed properly.
    Water usage can be reduced by using dry cooling towers (using heat exchangers) rather than evaporative cooling towers as much as possible. Usable water can also be generated from sea water through reverse osmosis powered by solar electricity.
    Covering as much of the factory building with solar panels will also help reduce power required for air conditioning as less heat would enter the building.

    How in the world is Giga-Berlin turning out 5000 vehicles per week? A factory running 24 hrs a day for 7 days straight has 168 hours in it. That comes out to 29.8 vehicles per hour? One side of the building parts of cars go in and an hour later 29.8 cars come out the other end?? That doesn't sound possible? Not even with 90% of the labour being done by robots and with a majority of the components being modular and just need to be snapped together. 29 vehicles per hour without any breakdowns or problems with the supply chain or Earl getting his arm ripped off in a confabulator or Delores soiling herself because of a bad burrito last night? 5000 vehicles sounds physically impossible?
