Yeah, they're actually in eachother's videos, and that's the whole point. Everyone thought In Flames and Soilwork had this big feud going on because they were both from Sweden and making similar music, but they put the rumours to rest when they made music videos together.
A sellout band calling another sellout band sellouts! Quite ironic when you look at it... luckily Soilwork has recently improved a great deal from this radio-friendly stuff they played on this album and the following two.
SaturnineXTS No need to be a big shot elitist buddy. Trust me, I listen to the heaviest of the heavy, and that doesn't mean I don't like a bit of melodic. Like it? Cool. Don't? Just like you said, they'll apparently accept you on that other video, doesn't mean you should come to this one just for the sake of arguing.
Over 20 years ago now. I got that sampler CD from Ozzfest. This track was on it, these guys. It's been kind of an anthem through my adult life from early adulthood to now. Thie highs and lows. Day or night. Time keeps passing, life keeps going. I miss those times, cruising northern central CA, going to Fry's Electronics. I didn't understand anything. Things have changed, and yet in some ways they haven't. All the good things. All the haters. All the heartbreak. All the enlightenment. The newness. The old stomping grounds. This was a track I'd just listen to. Because it's in its own league. A gem, like how I listen to certain Ozzy tracks on the road, different ones in the forest, etc. I don't know what I am trying to say. It's just, the sound of this song has always resonated with me. Variety of situations. In a way it kind of brings me back from whatever I have been facing. The good with the bad. Or gets me through tough times. Or something I can enjoy when it's good. I don't know if anyone else understands all that. This track kick ass and that's it.
I remember this video when it came out, along side with the In Flames-Trigger video. I was about 18 back then. This is one of the coolest videos ever made!
+vicpic666 i found fun that they call soilwork "sellout" at the beginning of the video when they have released reroute to remain at the same time (i know the video was a joke, but still)
@@stephenm8725 Great lineup on that tour; Soilwork, In Flames, Mastodon, Arch Enemy, The Haunted, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, not to mention Maiden, Sabbath, Black Label Society, etc.
uh yeah I'm stuck too I watch this then trigger then repeat over and over again! I LOVE SOILWORK & IN FLAMES! They need to tour the U.S. TOGETHER soon! \m/
I told my Swedish friend about these videos, about how both bands were in each other's videos and how in the videos they are at each other's shows. He said that was no joke back them, that was the entire audience was other bands lol. I'm pretty jealous, I'm still not sure he understands how special that time was to everyone..maybe he does, but as an American young adult at the time, we could feel the energy all the way across the Atlantic
Funny how in 2003 when both this and Trigger were made, Soilwork and In Flames were pretty much in the same spot as far as their music was concerned - indeed a bit sellout. And now, 13 years later look what happened to In Flames and look how amazing Soilwork has gotten. They've diverged as far as the earth and sky.
lyle gentleman Of course they are comfortable with writing simple songs. Good songwriting isn't supposed to be comfortable. It's supposed to be challenging and in the end, produces an amazing result.

I'm surprised there wasn't more collaboration between In Flames and Soilwork based on both videos for this and Trigger. Imagine if they would have had ore collaboration tracks...

Same feeling man, especially when you look this video in tandem with Trigger from In Flames. Just epic and catchy.

Loved this song when I was in elementary school. Means a lot to me now at 43.
Sometimes a band finds that perfect sound that resonates with you... and speaks through you. I owe soilwork my life. I owe them everything

Exactly my thoughts
The pre chorus
It feels so good to listen to this song after so many years
I'm the result of an ageless redemption
A body with a heartless convention
A face with a smile that's been shut down for years
Facing the facts of my generation, 'cause
I'm a sinner, a winner, my blood is getting thinner
I might as well get another life cause I've been there
I know what's been said and I know what's been done
Don't you tell me I'm the only one, cause I
I will be there looking for something
Coming straight out of nothing, just killing time
Facing those walls so black, so vile
I really am waiting for nothing
Coming straight out of something, just killing time
Facing those walls so black, so vile
Now put your trust in a solid machine
Filled with words that have never been seen
A plague to insatiable souls left to die
Charged with mankind's raw energy
I rumble, I stumble
My memory starts to crumble
I can't refuse what's haunting my dreams
Have I stumbled?
On my way to a created perfection
I penetrate the gates of rejection
There's no determination, echoes of a failed gallery
There's yet extermination, inside us all screaming
havent been able to get this song out of my head since I first heard it years ago
