My father died of cancer in 2005. For some reason I have a vivid memory as a child of one night finding him sitting on the couch. I sat down to join and he told me he had found this band named Radiohead and was in awe of them. At one point I remember him telling me to look up because if you watched closely you could see a tear slowly rolling down one of the band members faces, that's how moving the song was. I've been looking for the video for years and just now finally found it. Thank you. 3:15
Thom and Ed's melodies and harmonies, Ed's guitar, Johnny's bells part, and Phil and Colin subtly but oh so perfectly bringing the rhythm section out, all just lovely in this song. What a helluva band.
Absolutely fantastic performance. I cried a river understanding it, yet not understanding it, too. Ohhhhh Im too dazed and amazed. I love you, Radiohead. Thank you for making me feel so real.
This was the first Radiohead song I ever heard, and I had to come back for more. Now that I've listened to all of OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows, I'm as in love as I ever was. They make me feel less alone.
Mille grazie, fabiocchi - your "high audio quality" Radiohead rules the Tube. Many absolutely brilliant performances by Britain's greatest live band... No Surprises in concert is always a beauteous wonder...
Wow, it actually really looks like a tear. It would be no surprise to me if he'd cry. It's hard not to cry listening to this song when you feel like it...
I'll be honest, I'm a Muse fan at heart who never really got into Radiohead in the same way... but this Live is perfect... keeps the feel of the original but you can feel the raw power coming through in a way that just doesn't in the music video. Another Radiohead fan in the making? Possibly.
He said the whole album is composed with "different voices". Of this song, I believe he said that it was written in the voice of someone who was "trying to keep it together, but can't". You can tell by the way he sings it. Either way, Thom Yorke is a genius.
"such a pretty house and such a pretty garden" is a satirical comment about suburban life. someone mentioned ed sings "get me outta here!" simultaneously, and i think that pretty much speaks for itself. a very, very, sad, beautiful, but ultimately uplifting song. just like in subterranean homesick alien, one realizes they are not alone in their distant, quiet passion to be somewhere else...Radiohead and all their fans feel that way too, even if unspoken. listen to the music -- you'll get it
its not about suicide. its about living a content life, much like many other people do. but deep inside him, he wants to be free and able to do what he wants.
about escapism, about an escape of a hopelessness and stressful life. about living in a calm world with no stress, no alarms or surprises of modern life.
yeah I just listened to the album version now and it's definitely "let me outta here".. thanks.. its just Thom in the background on the studio version right? I always thought Ed did the backing vocals in that but he just does it live because obviously Thom cant sing both at once
"A lot of people just seem to think we're this serious, humorless band, but a lot of things we do are really funny," adds Yorke. "On "Airbag" we had a great time. There was a party going on for like three days in a row.
I know for a fact that they don't mime their shows... you can just tell by Thoms voice... it has a roughness to it that you don't get on the studio recordings.. Also his phrasing is not the same either... live he tends to hold words a little longer and the use of vibrato is different. You can also tell when he backs away from the mic while he's singing and the loudness of the voice changes depending on that... aaaannnd... on several of their studio recordings Thom does ALL the vocal tracks while live Ed ends up singing many of the back up vocals. This song is an example. Ed does not sing in the studio version. The "let me out of here" part is sang by Thom and if you pay close attention you'll notice that it's layered too. Same goes with Let Down and Paranoid Android. All the back up vocals in those songs are performed by Thom. Idk if Ed sings at all in the album. He's credited with back up vocals but most of the ones I can pick out are Thom for sure. I think Ed sings in the chorus of Karma Police but it's waayyy in the background and loaded up with reverb. It's during the "meeesss with uuuusss" part.. If you listen closely you can hear an "oooooh" in the background. That has to be Ed.
un corazon que esta lleno como una colina... monoxido de carbono... este es mi último dolor de estomago... sin alarmas, sin sorpresas... silencioso... que tristeza esta canción
A heart’s that full up like a landfill A job that slowly kills you Bruises that won’t heal You look so tired and happy Bring down the government They don’t they don’t speak for us I’ll take a quiet life A handshake with carbon monoxide No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises Silence Silence This is my final fit My final bellyache No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises please Such a pretty house And such pretty garden No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises No alarms and no surprises please
I have heard this explanation before and I feel it is an oversimplification. My interpretation is that the song perfectly encapsulates the core theme of OK Computer--that we live in a modernizing world that, while technically impressive, is making it difficult to find happiness and satisfaction. The lyrics talk about "a job that slowly kills you" yet also say "bring down the government, they don't speak for us", which is hardly a statement that would be made by someone completely giving up.

This is the best band there ever was
at 51 years old and struggling...this song means more to me than ever.
Always knew this was a really emotional song not just for us but for the band as well... Ed's crying made me fully realize it. 3:19

Could be his sweat, cant really tell because of the quality

Ed's tear man... That makes this even more emotional
La perfección hecha canción , vida eterna para esta gran banda que marco mí adolescencia , gracias Radiohead por existir
I'm a Huge Radiohead Fan! Thank you very much for this !
Mille grazie, fabiocchi - your "high audio quality" Radiohead rules the Tube. Many absolutely brilliant performances by Britain's greatest live band... No Surprises in concert is always a beauteous wonder...

Radiohead is one of those bands that sound amazing live!!! Wow
Tears appears ed's cheek..
Cannot belive how this makes me feel. And how some people are capable of not loving this.
Man this has been the only thing cheering me up this week
Real gem found this in 2011, thanks for archiving this.
Beautiful song!
Wow, it actually really looks like a tear.
It would be no surprise to me if he'd cry. It's hard not to cry listening to this song when you feel like it...
Ed, you did not cry alone!

OMG, i love this song
This video is the perfection represented! What a beautiful song!!! Very OKC
Just perfect!!🖤
this goes beyond the music
this is expression,this is art
pure expression
It's just flawless.
There are certain songs, like this one, that can just put you in a really mellow, comfortable place...
It's quite ironic if you think about it
thanks man!
I love Thom's face at 3:38 it's like: We fucking nailed it.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. on of their most beautiful songs.
Beautiful!!
Radiohead so depressing yet so divine
The riff is from another universe. It says morbid, but at the same time beautiful; more a gothic painting at the end of hallway than song.
Loved this song since I was 3 years old...... ~
juste se posé
juste prendre le temps
juste se relaxé
juste aprécié
juste se dire que ça fait du bien
juste leur dire MERCI pour ça!!
I bought this album for Street Spirit , this one blew me away though, The chord changes are so beautiful n heartbreaking
Thank you for sharing
he is awkwardly charming, and his musics are so special.
Thom's acoustic sounds different in this version to all other versions I've heard
Poznań! liczymy na wspaniałą publiczność!!!
LOVE no surprises

Don't you ever wish you were born a few years earlier to see 90's alternative at it's full growth?
its not about suicide. its about living a content life, much like many other people do. but deep inside him, he wants to be free and able to do what he wants.
No surprises...that Radiohead puts on a hell of a show...damn! wish I could see them sometime... (sniff)
A beautiful song
Completamente conmovedora, perfecta.
This is the best!!!!
about escapism, about an escape of a hopelessness and stressful life. about living in a calm world with no stress, no alarms or surprises of modern life.

Earl's Court Night 2 has a particularly great version. But I'm sure they were miming there too
great.
you may be right. I've never thought about it that way before. the pyramids song is definatly about suicide.
I love Thom Yorke's personalised black Ovation guitar!!! i want 1!!!!!!! :D
congrats on the audio - how did you manage?
Idk what it is but his voice just sounds... frankly better in this performance then on the album.
Asi se siente una buena cancion 3:18
Jjajja
master of the scene
see U in Poznań :)
I wouldn't have paid attention to it without your high rated comment.
Thank you for hating.
Hi, its ' let me outta here' that what i got from the music vid. hope it helps if not....oh well.....
great
Ed rocks :)
This song is going to make me cry at Reading.
Its not necessarily a bad thing if it is about depression and suicide, as that would tie in with the whole alienation aspect, as symptoms.
wow!
its a well known fact that Radio Head mime at all their gigs. I'm a massive radiohead fan but I know that much. Look at their videos.
if I sang in perfect harmony with Thom Yorke on this song, i'd probably cry too
A heart’s that full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won’t heal
You look so tired and happy
Bring down the government
They don’t they don’t speak for us
I’ll take a quiet life
A handshake with carbon monoxide
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
Silence
Silence
This is my final fit
My final bellyache
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises please
Such a pretty house
And such pretty garden
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises please
la mejor cancion
the best song of histori
Oh my god ... Thom is a god
One of the few bands that sound better live!
No Surprises ,please....(8)
@6Lyla9 Actually, the glockenspiel, but close enough. He IS pretty awesome.

Ahh, 240p. We meet again, noble foe.
You're not the only one..
