- Installing android radio in 2015 Kia Optima LX. Just simple installation. No factory amp, backup camera, etc. it’s a base model optima. This radio was originally for a 2014 Kia Forte Koup and I guess optima has same wiring and it works perfect.

@@ricardowalkes6955 glad it helped. The car already had a rear view mirror backup camera so didn’t have to install it. But I might install it because rather have the camera on big screen instead of little mirror.

@@ricardowalkes6955 if you want a simple install I would recommend getting a rear view mirror dashcam which is very easy to install. Checkout my video of this dashcam I got.

Has anyone tried to add the backup camera? I have somewhat figured out whats going on with the harness I hope, but I am not sure what I wire the camera into. No instructions with the unit

Thank you for this. My radio system deff needs an upgrade, and this was detailed enough for me to do it myself. Question, what is the USB cable needed for? The one that you ran thru the glovebox
So the usb cable is for charging your phone or if you’re having bad experience with wireless CarPlay, you can plug in your phone and use wired CarPlay. Sometime wireless CarPlay can be very glitchy.
Also if your passenger needs to charge their phone they can use that as well or if you don’t want your passengers to connect to your radio via Bluetooth you can just let them use the usb to stream their music through.

To the point video ! One question though, what if I want to retain my SiriusXM satellite radio ? Secondly does FM work without the antenna cable connected?
There’s an harness you can get to make Sirius xm work! And my FM on one of my cars was working without antenna but it wasn’t too clear at certain zones especially when parked under a place like parking garage.
Did you also have to order a dash kit or just the radio because I have a 2015 Kia optima name want to upgrade the radio as well

- How long it took you to do all of this?
- After you finished everything while driving you here squeky noises from the dashboard and from stuff you took off?
- I am having the Gen 1 Navi, is it worth to upgrade to this android navi, you feel like it is cheap navi or it suits better for 2023 standards?
- If I have backup camera would it work for this android navi?
1. Didn’t take too long as I install radios all the time. It was pretty much plug and play.
2. No squeaky noises
3. It’s definitely worth upgrading. I love the android radios as you can literally do anything. It’s basically a tablet so you can download Netflix and watch movie as long as you have internet connection.
4. Yes you can retain backup cameras but you have to get a 12v to 6v step down in order to make it work. Search “retain factory backup camera” on TH-cam and you’ll see tons of videos on it.
@@Djrulez203 Also wanted to know, I have the climate info on my Navi (I dont have any other lcd beside the navigation unit)
How would I be able handle this situation, how would I get the climate info on the Android tablet?
@@picutzpicutz7141 I’m not sure exactly sure on android unit but if you look at my other videos installing radio on a 2013 Kia optima you will see what I did to display the climate controls.

ordered and installed the same unit, but am now having issues with a parasitic draw. Disabled the ACC sleep option, but no difference. Any experience with this?
If you just got it then I would return it and get another one. You must’ve got a defective piece. I haven’t had any issues with this one.

Radio seemed to be good when I messed with it during the installation. But I’m not sure as it’s a friends car so I haven’t been using it after the installation.

The car already had backup camera on the mirror so didn’t need to install a 2nd camera.

It all depends on if your car has factory amp, backup camera, etc. this one was base model so just basic wire harness.

Hey I got mine installed same year and model and radio car play and everything works . But I have no sound !? Did you have this issue because you didn’t play any music or anything to verify . And if you did get sound how did you do it
Sound worked great no issue at all. I didn’t play any sound on the video due to copyright purposes because TH-cam would block my video if I played and music sadly. And mine worked without doing anything. Basically was plug and play.
Were you able to figure this out? Just installed a new head unit and have no sound.
Checking the seller website reviews some pictures show this unit not being flush with the dash trim but sticking out over and inch. Why is there this difference??
Maybe some people got luckily like myself lol. When buying stuff over seas you can’t guarantee fitment.
I took my Kia to upgrade to this radio model and the steering wheel function stops working after a minute or so do you have any idea why?
It could be many reasons.
1. Probably hasn’t been setup yet through the settings.
2. The radio doesn’t support to retain steering wheel functions and would need additional harness to retain it.

It actually improved big time! I also messed with the sound settings and it definitely sounds lot better than stock radio.

No you have to get special harness to retain backup camera

Hey, I’m trying to buy just the dash kit. Already have the stereo but it doesn’t give me that option.
Only AliExpress sells the dashkit so look on there and see which one is for your optima. Some optima requires different dashkit so just confirm which one fits yours.

A bro quick question I just got that dash kit with a 9 inch stereo but the thing is how did you mount the stereo to the frame? Did you use screws or what lol

@@Djrulez203 yeah my setup is exactly like that. OK do you see the five holes in the frame? Did you notice screws in those or how was the radio mounted to the frame because I don’t see threads in those holes that was throwing me off
@@Tattedrob91 the radio came with screws and used that to mount it to the frame. The screws went on both sides of the radio
How did you get the antenna to the windshield? Did you remove more trim pieces to get it there?
Nope I ran the wire behind the dash and out from the glovebox and through the side door seals to the dash.

@@chaneln9698 yes it does! Just my regular climate control knob as it doesn’t have any fancy climate control screen.

You can add backup camera to it if you want. This optima didn’t have backup camera from factory

Yes most of them do and a harness too.

It was basically plug and play. Didn’t need to cut any wires.

Yes still worked fine. And you can change setting on each buttons if you wanted to.
also is their options on the screen for me to use the climate control ?
Not too sure. This was a base model optima so didn’t really have to worry about it. What year optima you got?

It was bought from eBay for different car. But I can’t find the link for it anymore. But just look up “Kia optima android radio” and you should be able to find it

No it won’t. You need to get some harness to retain factory usb port.
got this radio, installed it has no car play ...i mean its better than the stock radio but for the life of me cant figure out car play
Did you get the right radio? Some are just basic touchscreen.
@@Djrulez203 I ordered the one from your link then the seller contacted me asked me to show him the radio I currently have said I ordered the wrong one so charged me a few dollars more for the “right one” and even though it’s an android tablet and looks like yours I have either no idea how to get into car play or it just dosnt have it contacted seller to see what happens
@@DanniAlv I believe you got the basic one without CarPlay. They have multiple options and if you select few and look at the pic, it shows all the features it has. Some don’t have CarPlay as an option if you look at the pictures.

There was another harness that came with the radio that you plug into back of the radio and then you can plug your cables to the harness.
How much would this cost in total??
