I'm new to the show, and from what I've seen, the Damon haters have no idea how these characters are actually written. The Salvatore brothers are equals, having their own personal issue with their vampirism. One with bloodlust, the other with magnified emotions. Neither one has complete control because of those issues, which they show in every arc. They'd look exactly the same if they were written to have the same issue, but they weren't. Stefan has more control over his emotions, Damon has more control over his bloodlust. Damon’s emotional spirals have to be compared to Stefan’s bloodlust spirals. Fans find it easier to excuse Stefan's actions because he has control over his emotions, while they simultaneously blame his ripper actions on other characters when they’re just as much his. To excuse Stefan because his humanity was off is like blaming Damon because his humanity was on. It’d be like excusing Damon’s behaviors by blaming the characters that hurt his feelings, as if they essentially compelled him to kill because his emotions are magnified. He's impulsive because he's emotional. He does without thinking because he's all-feeling. As I often tell fans, Damon would probably kill less if he flipped his switch, which is what he admitted to Jeremy in 1x22 before snapping his neck in 2x1. But yeah... when fans hate Damon for killing with his humanity on, they’re essentially hating Stefan for killing with his humanity off. That's how they're written. It's possible for Stefan to learn moderation, but there's no "moderation" with Damon's emotions, so he has to learn how to better express those emotions. That's why he's such a heavy drinker.

When he's with Bonnie ohhh he's so calm and caring,and loving towards her. What excuse me so when he's with Elena he's toxic,but Bonnie makes him a better person what hypocrites these haters are. @@BiBoFan Stefan told Elena vampires are a toxic species because the writers wanted to make sure that's how all their vampires are viewed. If Damon is an abuser and a rapist, they all are. Other fans hate it when I point out how Caroline nearly killed Matt, compelled him, then tried to continue a relationship with him. Or point out how she compelled Jesse, then tried to continue a relationship with him. She also assaulted Liam. Damon didn't rape Elena, I don't know where they get that from. If it weren't for her, he wouldn't have such a close relationship with Bonnie.... or anyone else for that matter. He and Elena have equal control over each other because they fell in love with each other. She changes Damon more than the rest of them because she saw him from the very beginning. Alaric did too, but he was blinded by his anger over Isobel, so it took him longer

Damon fed on her it's a big difference from rape. In S4 when Delena finally made love they claimed he raped her because of the sire bond. Even Tyler said the sire bond had nothing to do with the way you feel,but If a person tells you to do something you have to do it. Klaus told Tyler to bite Caroline he refused but they were kissing he bit her. Damon never told Elena anything they were dancing then it happened they both wanted it. Very true because of Elena,Damon formed a close bond with Stefan and Bonnie. Bonnie didn't change him Elena did. Bamon fans are so delusional they see what they want to see. He never told her to love him, never told her to sleep with him. Even when he told her to feed on humans, she refused... to the point she nearly starved to death. If she didn't wanna be with Damon, she would've refused all the same. The sire bond has great advantages for Delena that many choose to ignore, but it's canonically written for one reason... she keeps denying her feelings for Damon, so the sire bond forces her to wear those feelings on her sleeve where everyone can see them. Everything she does for Damon while sired to him, she does because she's in love with him. No different than Damon gifting her the necklace on her birthday to make her happy, only she's forced to do things. Doesn't change her feelings. Caroline is a train wreck. I don't start liking her or Stefan until S5. I don't like Stefan until S5 because when he's with Elena, she actually brings out the worst in him.
