he was so extra for 15:35 - 22:17 😭😭😭 really flexing his math skills. loved the explanation. really appreciate the fact that he figured that the students were lost and spent next 7 minutes explaining it all via an alt method instead of just saying "it is what it is"
Engineering student here- I think another way to interpret setting the lambda equal to a positive in the beginning is that you want to create a solution to the Y(y) equation that that has linear independence. The only way to go from u=0 to u=0 on the y interval is with linear independence, thus sines and cosines. Hyperbolic sine and cosine doesn’t work. This was still an excellent example, and very helpful before my PDE exam today. Thank you!
